  1. I bought mine out of the blue about 8 months ago. I was actually there trying to order another gun, and ran across the Saiga. All I knew was that it was some sort of AK variant, and it appeared to be a good, clean, solid gun. It's fairly accurate for what it is, I can get shots out to 100 yds with iron sights, sometimes more (I know, I'm no marksman), and as far as loose, not that I notice, I like it. It shoots harder than a .223, but it's supposed to, I like it at least as well as my buddies Armalite AR-15, more because of the power of the 7.62. His AR is a bit more accurate, but it's
  2. Good lookin' gun badman, and congrats Max, sounds like a good time. I just scored a CZ52 over the weekend at the local gunshow. I've been looking for a while, but couldn't find any locally, but I knew there'd be a few at the show. Check out Makarov.com for grips and all kinds of other goodies. I'm already looking at an upgraded firing pin and rollers, as well as some grips, but we;ll see what the future brings. And also, thanks for the help with the markings, now I know what I have.
  3. I'm saying thumb, mostly from trial an error. It seems to be a more natural pressure for the pad on my gun, personally. I tried it on both sides and found that using it with your fingers caused a less natural pressure and it reflected in my shots. I would also suggest velcro though, that way if you don't liek it one way, you can swap it around.
  4. Being a member of a number of forums like that, I can almost assure you that it's from losing some folks along the way. Banned members, people who have left, etc... When someon leaves, at least on most forums, their number position doesn't leave, but since they are no longer members they don't reflect total member numbers.
  5. Good post BVamp, an often overlooked part of net surfing and basic computer maintanence. I use AdAware by Lavasoft, but also run Spybot Search and Destroy for spyware. I run both because they will both catch somethings that the other won't. Spybot Search and Destroy As for antivirus I use Norton, but it isn't free, but $60 a year is fine for piece of mind. I also run Panda ActiveScan, it's a free online service you can get through their website here. http://www.pandasoftware.com/ Just look for a scan your PC now link, or the activeScan link.
  6. Great links, some good stuff out there. For cheap targets, we use cheap soda, in both 2 litre and in cans. If you have a dollar store or a Wally World close by, you can buy the 2 litres as cheap as 50 cents a piece, and a 12 pack for around $2. For $10 - $20 dollars you get a good afternoon of blowing up stuff. Make sure you shake them up well before placing them, but be carefull, the cheap cans are prone to pop on their own if you toss them around. We generally take a garbage bag along to clean up the remains. Stay away from the Mountain Dew knock offs, they don't fizz as well, but t
  7. Here's a couple. The first one is Magic Mountain, last July, with my son. The other is at Zuma Beach Christmas of '05.
  8. Good thread, got to reply here. I got mine form an old girfreind, she called me the........ Ultimate Ruler Of The Universe That was about 10 yeasr ago, and it stuck, as you can see. On a side note, The otehr day as I surfed the web, I found that it was also a word in some slavic kind of langauge. I couldn't figure out what it was, but my brother said he found it was a Croatian word, and meant "conspiracy", or "frame-up". I was just glad it didn't mean pig butt or something equally as bad.
  9. I have searched all over for RIA guns locally, is there a website that sells them that I can't find? How inexpensive is inexpensive? Just curious, I'm a Hi-Point man myself, hard to beat.
  10. I loved my 91' GL, wish it would of been a stick but alas twas not to be, at the ripe old age of 27,000 miles I found the back end of my friends 4-wheel drive ranger at about 40 mph, i moved the bumper on the ranger, lost the golf Yup, I dig mine too, it's fun to drive, plenty peppy, handles nice, amnd get's damn near 40 mpg. What's not to love, now if I could get my Blazer to get that kind of milage I might drive it more.
  11. Alright, I new I liked you guys for a reason. A thread like this I can't stay out of. These are my daily's.......... '87 Golf My old Ford work truck during the largest single snowstorm in New Mexico history (I think we got 15 inches in one sitting). My old daily, my Blazer, runs real good, much better than she looks..... And here are a few future projects, the A is a '29, the Buick is a '65, and the bike is one of about a half a dozen sitting around. I also have two more Rabbits, an '81 and an '84, as well as an '83 Yamaha, SECA 750,
  12. OKay, that's good to know, I knew someone would know.
  13. I don't know about this choke inparticular, but it's my understanding with a shotguns in general that you shouldn't shoot slugs through any choked barrel. You shouldn't have issues with the buck through a choke though. I could be wrong, but that's how I've come to understand choked barrels for the most part. I'm sure someone else will come through and correct me if'n I'm wrong though.
  14. I just sat through the whole thing, that was great, thanks. I missed the earlier thread also, so I'm glad it was here, I dig Penn & Teller.
  15. Hey ScoutJoe, thanks for the dimpled answer on the other thread, didn't want to hi-jack there, but I do apperciate it. Dog, no I bought the gun used, but have been looking it over and don't see any of the mods that have been mentioned here in a conversion. I bought it from my local gun dealer who bought it from the original owner. He's the one that said it would need modified to accept AK mags as that's what the guy who sold it too him said. So, I guess I don't really know, it's all just hearsay (and inadmissable in court, hehe). I can tell you there is no bullet guide in it, and the S
