  2. After a little planning I am pleased to announce that our First Postal Match will commence! Please read the Match Rules as posted below. The following is only a synopsis... This will be an email postal match, not a mail-in postal match. 4. Hey guys, if you are interested in a 100 yard shoot think about shooting as part of our postal match, check the link in my signature line for the thread with all the info and discussion.
  5. As I stated above this match is only a proposal and is subject to change. Something that I have been debating over for the last few days is something that I might think will encourage a few more people to compete. How about instead of a mail-in to me we do something like Bvamp is talking about and you score your own targets, photograph them and submit them onto a dedicated "results thread." Eliminating the mail-in will ease any privacy concerns that people may have, provide for instant gratification and facilitate a larger portion of this group to compete with relative ease. The only
  6. They posted some good replies to this same exact post on BarfDotcom today But yeah, treat her as well as you would treat any other rifle of yours and she will last forever. Swab the barrel, then after you clean out the grease from manufacturing and packing you are going to want to lube up the rails and bolt carrier, maybe a dab on the trigger parts and shoot a few rounds. Swab the barrel and shoot some more. Take her home, clean her up and put her away dry. These rifles are not finicky and will provide you with one enjoyable shooting experience after another.
  7. This issue (NY Laws) has been addressed here on the forum before and I am responding because of a confusion that I have. IndyArms posted about this before but after reading that topic I still had one question that needed clarification. "Edited to cross-link Indys Post:" http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=26422 The law states that a semi-auto shotgun is an "assault weapon" if it has at least two of the following characteristics: (i) a folding or telescoping stock; (ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (iii) a fixed magazine capacity in
  8. This is a nice job and I just have to revive this old thread. BTT
  9. You want a serious rifle, get a SAIGA!!! You have the chance to work on it, sweat on it and bleed on it in the quest of perfection to make it the rifle you want. Unlike an AR where you buy your shit, push a couple pins and yell from every stinkin internet board that you built a rifle---we build rifles.
  10. Ahhh Hah, I have looked for a long time now but I have never seen it spelled out like that. Thanks Bob.
  11. Bob, for those of us in states that don't allow flash suppressors but allow muzzle brakes...what category does this fall into? Or does some little guy on capitol hill somewhere tell us once it's too late?
  12. Dinzag's guide, being properly installed, will most likely last longer than your trigger finger Tracer rounds I cannot help you with since none of the ranges around here let us shoot them because of the fire hazard. As far as the scopes do a quick search and you will see some great discussions. A lot of guys have recommended doing business with Eastwave who gets legit russian optics in. http://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes.html As always though, check with our site sponsors first. Suarez for example has optics for sale in his gear store.
  13. Nah, it has a very positive lock open. The closed lock too. You must manipulate it in a way that seems to be very unlikely to do accidentally but very natural to do consciously.
  14. Jesus! Yeah just do yourself a favor and drill n' tap that into place.
  15. Where is our WarriorJudge at? Seriously though, that stinks.
  16. Please don't take any offense but to me it looks like you've pretty much described the AK that you don't want it to look like. Am I missing something?
  17. I like my manual one. It opens and closes like a charm once you get the hang of it. BTW, do not completely close the block if it is not mounted to the stock and the rifle...that was the only time it was hard to open
  18. I would think that the only way a bullet guide would affect accuracy would be if the bullet itself was impacting the guide at such a way that it would dent or distort the shape of the bullet which would change the flow of air over it, or the fore-aft weight balance.
  19. I thought the Tromix section covered that? Nah, I am just kidding. Sounds like a good idea.
  20. I would be thrilled! Just so long as I do not have half of the russian military sending targets to my PO box
  21. I know that I for one am always looking for military rifle events or other events that I won't be laughed out of when I show up with an AK and everyone else has ARs shooting sub-moa. Personally I prefer the AK over the AR and do not see the need to get an AR to compete when I have a competitive .22 smallbore. I am now proposing that we have a Kalashnikov postal match for the members of this forum. Unless someone has a valid concern or problem with me taking this by the reigns I would be very honored. Included in this topic is a poll. Please vote to let me know if you are interested and
  22. Gilberts has the rails in stock right now. They are just waiting on the packaging. The rifle rails will ship first and then the shotgun rails will go out. Expected delivery is about 2 weeks from today. My primary reason for getting this forearm is because it is American made. Yes, there are other American made tacticool front ends out there but they all require retainers and such while this one bolts right in. Using this would give me an American part which would let me use a foreign pistol grip. I had though about getting a universal strip to mount. 10 bucks a strip and you now have $
