  1. I just recently mounted a Barska 4x21 AO scope with the SKS reticle on my .308. I've put about 200 rounds through it after zero and seems to have held up. Currently going for about $75 at Amazon but it only has a single star rating. I'm holding off on an opinion on this thing until after I put about 500 more rounds through it. 4x was the most magnification I wanted for my 16" saiga .308 though.
  2. Al, A sling might help tighten up those groups too. Keep us posted!
  3. My two cents: The only way to know how someone will hold up in combat is to watch him (or her) in combat. As far as the mandatory fun is concerned...oh well. There isn't a damn thing they can do about it. The best option would be to shut up, suck it up, and charge on. If you're going to clash with the brass, do it for something worth your stripes.
  4. If used as directed, linux is 99.999% impervious. There is no accounting for the user's discretion, though (this is how they've been infecting OS X machines - getting the user to install the crap themselves). -Shooter- if you need any further help, you can email me from here. Hmmm, I didn't realize there was a specific way to run Linux. I'll have to check it out. I haven't downloaded any thing on Linux though. The most basic way is to create a user profile that doesn't have root access and do most of your stuff on that account.
  5. I really hope this one goes through also. It would be interesting to see how NJ would react. I'd camp out overnight just to be first to fill out a CCW permit application in my county.
  6. You know, I haven't got a dog in this hunt but MAA makes a good point from a marketing perspective. The profit margin on accessories is going to be higher than on the rifles. If their stock of rifles is low but their stock of accessories is high, it would be smarter to get them out there to the public knowing that some portion is going to come back. And it also bolsters their reputation as a stand up company for trying to give a heads up to customers on their email list. But if they'd held on to the rifles in anticipation of higher market prices, they'd be blasted for gouging. Tough cr
  7. Glockfan, Sorry for the delay, did not read this post until now. I have the TAPCO g2 trigger installed on my .308. I bought it from Carolina Shooters Supply and the trigger set was modded to fit in the .308 Saiga. Apparently there is a hump that must be ground down. So it's a TAPCO G2 but it's been modded for the S308. Hope that helps.
  8. Not arguing at all, just seeking to dispel ignorance as I run into it. Kind of like your belief that Saiga .308's were banned from import. I know of the contemporary usage of the term "regulate". You fail to note that I distinguished there was a different usage of the term at the time the amendment was written. As found in this article (emphasis mine): "From my reading of material from the colonial era, I have come to understand that "well regulated militia" had a meaning at that time (ca. 1789) in the nature of "a properly functioning militia" - which would mean something along
  9. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Nothing in the exact syntax mentions an organized militia. The term regulated did not mean directed from above but rather self-organized, capable, and self sufficient (term usage at the time). Finally, every swinging dick was by default a member of the state militia...and that is still the case today whether people realize it or not. You are right in that the gov does have tanks, choppers, jets, ships, etc. But someone needs to operate thos
  10. NJ Rocks!!! (What I mean is, that's all we're allowed to use...rocks.)
  11. Neat. But I have a couple of observations. 1. You can't simulate or replicate the smell of blood. It's not just blood either. Sometimes it's blood, shit, vomit and burnt meat all rolled into one hot sticky mess. 2. What a fucking waste of money. If you survive the first few seconds of an ambush or ied attack, chances are good you'll figure out real quick what you need to do next. (Hint: seek cover) I can only imagine what the hollywood company is charging the military or the government (which eventually means us). That money would have been better off spent hiring a bunch of German hooke
  12. +1 on the S308. But I can't afford to get a Valmet.
  13. Congrats you guys. I'm a Flyers fan and to be honest, I'm just happy they got that far. But if that shot on Niemi's head had been an inch or two higher...
  14. If it were me, I'd hang on to the sks while in CA and get a saiga in 7.62x39 when I moved out. Front heavy is good in that it helps manage recoil. Switching to .223 is a downgrade in effectiveness of the round in my opinion.
  15. Sorry to hear that bohound. Best of luck to you and your family.
  16. Arik, I do know that one of the vendors at the KOP show is a classic firearms specialist. He's actually in south Jersey somewhere and I had snatched a card from him. If I can dig up the info perhaps your friend can give him a call and see if he has one and then check it out at the show.
  17. Kevin, I would start here and it talks about making sure the cutout on the 92 mag is on the same spot as your stock mag. There seems to be more info on the cz99.org board but you have to be registered to look at it. Now I'm not sure if the follower would still engage your slide lock when empty though. I modified a Beretta 92 mag to fit in my Arcus 98DA by dremmeling a cutout on the 92 mag exactly where it was on my Arcus mag. Feeds rounds flawlessly but doesn't engage the slide lock. To give you some background on why I had to do this: The Arcus is a Browning HiPower clone. The standa
  18. Not at all. But you sure do suck at telling jokes. I didn't tell a joke, I was joking around, there is a difference. Oh wait, I'm explaining something to a Marine, does anyone have any crayons? I know your security detail job at a major retail installation is a lot more demanding (mentally). I could only hope to reach that level of situational awareness some day.... I'm an electrician in West Texas... Good call on the Mall Cop thing though, actually I can't remember the last time I was in a mall... You know what? You ARE special, now wipe the drool from your l
