  1. Saying that a firearm is "for killing" is the most simplistic of views and confuses its action with its purpose. It is akin to saying that the purpose of a surgeon's scalpel is for "cutting people" when in reality it is usually used to to cure illness.

  3. I tried to put together a gathering some time back and had 7 people show up. We even had some offers of sponsorship for something bigger. It is do-able, but would require more promotion.

  6. Yep, that is a nice rifle, but not really "stock..."

  9. Interesting mod, but I have to ask the obvious question, what is the point? The only reason to have the rifle on Safe is because there is a round in the chamber. Withdrawing the bolt will extract that round, and with your mod will not put a now unloaded rifle on safe, or require you to expel a good loaded round to the ground to chamber a second one, ready to fire.
  10. I have a Lone Wolf 40 S&W Conversion Barrel for my Glock 20 10mm. It make sense to shoot the cheaper ammo for practice and save most of my full power ammo for serious business. I had a custom dual Glock 20 Cross-draw shoulder rig that I sometimes wear and usually feel fairly well armed... I am a big 10mm fan, I have carried them on duty and they did not let me down when they were needed.
  11. Thanks Yakdung, good post and a great testament to a real American Hero and his equally heroic canine. We should all aspire to me the men that are dogs believe we are!
  12. The reason this could be done is because that it is sometimes necessary to shoot someone with a shotgun, but to give them lead poisoning is just inhumane... OK, not really, the real reason is to reduce pellet deformation while the load is traveling down the barrel. The flat spots that occur when soft shot is fired gives different aerodynamic surfaces then just plain spherical pellets and this results in the pattern opening up. It has nothing to do with terminal effect of the load.
  13. LoL! I am away for months and one of the 1st threads I read is yet another 922R scheme that attempts to dismiss popular convention. My advise is to test your own theory! Simpley go to a large Gun Show with your rifle non-compliant, but with the bolt out, show it to one of the every handy BATF Agents and then opt him your legal theory. All good theories must be tested in real world applications to have any meaning and since you seem to be the only one that sees the logic of this one, that makes you the prime person to conduct this test! Let us all know how it goes...
  14. And you will never see it in the real world. The only place this seems to happen, is on the Internet. Please don't offer any "Me and Joe were shooting down by the creek and...." stores as support by this statement. You NEVER see these types of rifles being shot to that effect in High Powered Competition and you never will. The only reason I am stating this is for the benefit of the truly uninformed who on reading these type of statements will buy these rifles and then post here in fruitless threads wondering endlessly why their S308 will not shoot "1-2 MOA." The S308 is a very good ri
  15. I don't have to imagine, I have a bullpup AK rifle (K-Var) and use a Chinese drum mag on it quite a bit. I have no problems with it at all. It makes a great car gun! I have also used a BetaMag with my previous Bushmaster M17S. I can not see most folks having a problem with it, unless of course they are afflicted with the dreaded "T-Rex Arms" syndrome... The trigger linkage will be different, but it is easily possible in most applications to get a better trigger then the military standard with a little adjustment. I know that all of my bullpup triggers are quite acceptable. Most of the

    Hair Triggers

When you say "installing" a "hair" trigger I would assume that in fact you mean to have a trigger job that would create a trigger so light that it would discharge with only the slightest of pressure. This is of course never desirable in a semi-automatic, medium to heavy recoiling firearm like a center fire rifle, and is completely ridiculous in a 12 gauge shotgun. What you wind up with is an unsafe firearm, that unintentionally discharges when your finger bounces on the trigger from the last recoil pulse. While such a thing is very possible, only an idiot would deliberately build something s
  17. I guess that I should mention that after sending in my email, Safariland has never even bothered to respond. This company is clearly not the company that it once was. Buyer Beware!
  18. What do mean "You All"? Except for the OP there was no hint in any post here that anyone is scared away from nature by anything. In fact there's quite a bit to indicate "we all" spend a lot of time outdoors despite any dangers. Are you just making this up as you go along? Posted by Az. Does that clear it up? . Well, you have cleared up one thing. You can't understand a simple question. There really is no question. Unless you cant understand a statement. By you all I mean anyone who is scared to go out and adventure the world bro. You asked what I mean by yo
  19. Like I said, the eMail was sent to me. If you read the more info link at the bottom they talk about the snake being 6"06" I think. I am not scared of snakes or the wild, I just respect both. The day you quit is the day you wind up like Steve Erving...
  20. This is why I stay out of the woods and away from the tall grass.... An important message for the outdoorsman!!! Please read! Ya'll need to forget about those itty, bitty snake-proof boots and find yourself a full snake-proof SUIT.., AND HAT!!! The Ohoopee River where this big rattler was killed is outside the city of Vidalia Georgia which is located in ( South Georgia) near Lyons Georgia . Oh, for reference, the guy stands 6'-2". Seems there's been a boom in the snake population there. My fellow friends and family, We have

  22. No, but perhaps that would help! The truth is this holster is either on my belt or in my home. I do not leave it anywhere. It is the only way I have to carry this large package of a pistol/laser/light, short of a sling. So it is hard for me to believe that if it was not too hot for me, that it would be too hot for the holster! But that said, if this is a known problem with their holsters, that she framed it in the form of a question, intend of making it an unsupported statement. 20-Mags, you are correct, if the holster is that wimpy, they should have made it from a different plastic. I do
  23. I just sent this eMail to Safariland! I have used their products for many years but after a very disappointing call with their customer service, not any longer. This is what I said: Hello, I am a retired CLEO for a State Agency here in Georgia. At Christmas of last year I ordered a 5187-38321 Holster to fit my Glock 20 with TLR2 Laser Light. After waiting several weeks on its arrival I was pretty disappointed when this thing was so loose that the pistol would not stay in when inverted. But after it wore in a bit at 6 months it was so loose that it would rock around and was in danger
  24. Springs do not wear out from being compressed normally, that is within the design parameters of the magazine. They wear out from over compression and from flexing. If you do not believe this allow me to use an example that all can understand. Have you ever bent a nail back and forth till it broke off from metal fatigue? Well that is what happens to a spring that flexes, over time. No have you ever seen a bent nail just fail, because it has been bent "too long?" I did not think so...
