  1. I use a old worn out 12ga bronze brush on the gas tube. I use military surplus CLP to C-clean L-lubricate P-preservative The easiest and least messy way I have found to clean guns is to clean with CLP and then rinse it all out with brake parts cleaner. Put 4 paper towels in the bottom of the plastic bag you brought the brake parts cleaner home from the store in. Spray the gun and parts with CLP. Scrub with bore brush and tooth brush. Then hold the parts over the plastic bag and spray with brake parts cleaner. Brake parts cleaner is clear so when the liquid coming off the part is clear sto
  2. Here is a pic of some Barnaul 00 buck I got in 2003. The 12ga has the same pic of a guy firing a Saiga 410 on the box as the Barnaul 410 ammo. Got to get one of those cool black Saiga shooting hats! Notice the 00 molded into the black plastic overshot wad. The box has a circle on one end with 00 written in it with a ink pen. Fired 20rds in my Saiga 12 and not a single case split. I have fired over 300 Barnual 410 slugs and #3 shot in my Saiga 410 without a single case spliting.
  3. EAA didn't import Saiga's till 1999 so your's marked 94 is strange. Yes the Barnaul ammo is berdan primed so this is why I made these depriming tools. #1-is a cut off case used to get measurements for the tools. #2-is a base to set the cases in with a hole in the middle so the primers have somewhere to go when knocked out. #3- is the depriming tool. #4-is for straighting the case mouths back to round.
  4. The choke with holes in it is the full choke that came with early imported Saiga 410's. The choke set I got from EAA had a No3,No1,and a thread protector. Here is a pic of the chokes. Here is the certificate that came with the choke set. So according to it the No1 is a modified choke.
  5. All AK's have a firing pin retaining pin that has to be removed before the firing pin will come out. http://www.ak-47.net/ak47/comp/bolt.html
  6. Old smokie, Who imported your 94 Saiga? My early import Saiga 410 has a fixed rear sight with a notch in it that can be drifted to adjust windage. A AK type sight will not fit on them. The best price on Barnaul slugs is by the case at http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=148203 Barnual makes all the zinc plated steel cased 12 and 410 shotgun ammo. http://barnaulammunition.com/shotgun.htm The Barnaul 410 slugs are imported under the Silver Bear brand by http://www.gzanders.com/bearammo/ Here is a pic of the Barnaul ammo. You can see the slug, two halves of the plastic sabot
  7. I have a Chinese YIMENG model YL12-1J2B which is one of the first imported Ithica M-37copies with a 18" barrel. It funnctions fine with the mini shells no matter how hard you pump it.
  8. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/assault/treasrelease.htm After April 6,1998 all semi auto rifles imported can only use a 10rd or less mag. They can't have the ability to use a hi cap mag. They are modified by the importer after being imported to use hi cap mags. US parts are added to get the number of imported parts down to 10. Then the rifle complies with 922r and is legal for the importer to sell. http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/wbardw...tf_letter32.txt Covers the stock swapping.
  9. Here is a pic of a AK gas port reamer it has splines on the pointed end to scrape off the carbon built up in the gas port. The drift is a punch that is used to remove the retaining pin of the firing pin in the bolt and to press the tit on the bottom of the floor plate to disassemble the mags.
  10. Biakal is a trademark not a firearms mfg. nor is there a Biakal factory. The Biakal trademark is owned by Izhevsky Mekhanichesky Zavod(Izhmash Machinery Factory). Firearms made by several Russian firearm mfgs. are exported under the Biakal name. http://www.baikalinc.ru/eng/baikal/ Izhmash mfgs. the Saiga rifles/shotguns and they are imported by EAA. http://www.izhmash.ru/eng/product/weapon.shtml EAA is no longer importing single shot,over/under,and side by side shotguns. Remington thru their Spartan Gunworks subsidy is importing the Izhmash made shotguns. http://www.spartangunwork
  11. Checking the Blue Book of Gun Values there were two issues of the Police Positive. The first issue(1907-1927) had a last patent date of 1905 and the second issue(1928-1947) had a last patent date of 1926. Both were chambered for two .32 caliber cartridges the .32 Colt and .32 New Police. The .32 Colt cartridge was different from any other .32 cartridge and smaller in diameter than the S&W .32 cartridges. The .32 New Police was the same cartridge as the .32 S&W Long but loaded with a flat point instead of round nose lead bullet.
  12. The Saiga is not a company but a model of semi automatic shotguns and rifles made by the company Izhevskiy Machanicheskiy Zavod(Izhmash Machine Plant). http://www.izhmash.ru/eng/product/weapon.shtml The shotguns being sold by Reminton are not made by Izhmash but are exported by them. The shotguns are made by Tulsky Oruzheiny Zavod(Tula Arms Plant) http://toz.vpk.ru/eng/products.htm Baikal is a trademark owned by Izhmash. http://www.baikalinc.ru/eng/news/news103/
  13. If you want to shoot 2" 100 yard groups instead of 4"+ groups with your Saiga then you will have to reload. I have been reloading 7.62x39mm since the late 1980's with very good results. I started out doing it because there was no soft point hunting ammo available only fmj ammo. Boxer primed cases were hard to find and I searched for a while till I finally found 200 once fired PMC cases for sale. The problem was that every time I went shooting I lost about 1/4 of the cases in the weeds and hunting every shot fired the cases were lost. Loading hunting ammo for myself and a friend with sighting
  14. There is no restriction on importing detachable shotgun magazines no matter how many rounds they hold. What the law does say is that it is not considered a assualt weapon and legal to import if it is, Title 18,Chapter 44,Section 922,paragraph (v), (D) any semiautomatic shotgun that cannot hold more than 5 rounds of ammunition in a fixed or detachable magazine. I belive that what the EAA website should have said is, The maximum capistity of the detachable magazine that is imported with each Saiga shotgun so it is legal for importation is 5 rounds.
  15. When Izhmach designed the Saiga they also designed two scope mounts for them. One for the "C" series Saiga's which have folding stocks and one for the Saiga's with fixed stocks. The reason for two mounts is the folding stock is shorter than the fixed stock so the scope needs to be positions futher back for proper eye releif. Both mounts allow the use of the iron sights with the scope mounted so would be considered high profile. EAA imports the mount for the fixed stock Saiga's and it will fit the standard rail on all AK rifles. Like all the Russian mounts it is rock solid and retains zero no
  16. The Soumi 31 is a machine gun and it is aganist federal law to make a machine gun. So the kits are useless unless you want to make a semi auto rifle. The reciever is scrap as it has been cut into pieces with a torch. So you will have to make a new receiver. It fires from a open bolt so you can't use the bolt to make a semi auto rifle. The barrel is less than 16" so you will have to make a new one. The trigger parts allow it to fire full auto so you will have to make new trigger parts that can only fire semi auto. You don't need a FFL to order a parts kit as it is not a firearm.
  17. J A

    It's a 410 !!!

I ordered a 2-1/2" magazine from EAA and it wouldn't feed worth a crap with Winchester slugs,Remington slugs,or Remington #6 shot 2-1/2" shells. The shotshells didn't have enough power to eject fully.
  18. Let me get this straight you want to take a shotgun and change the barrel out to use a one of several cartridges that have 2-4 times the chamber pressure of the cartridge it was designed for? Ok, comparing my Saiga 7.62x39mm rifle and Saiga 410 shotgun. They both have the same trunion but..... the 410 has the bottom of the trunion cut out about 1"x 3/4"wide to clear the longer 410 magazine. The barrel sits about 1" farther out from the rear of the trunion than the rifle. The bolt of the 410 has about 1" added to the front of it. The locking lugs on the bolt and trunion of both are the
  19. The correct exspression is "a hard row to hoe". It refers to the way weeds were controled by walking between the rows of plants and chopping each weed down with a hoe. This was the way it was done before the use of herbicides became wide spread in the late 1970's. The number of weeds in the row is what made it hard. As walking down a row is a lot eaiser if you don't have to stop every couple of feet to chop a weed down.
  20. So, where else are you going to get a 10rd Saiga mag delivered for less than $19.98?
  21. http://www.ammoman.com/ They have a 780rd sealed tin of Cezch surplus for $78 delivered to your door.
  22. EAA has been saying the rifles are on their way since 03/2003. Since 04/2004 they have been saying the rifles were stuck in Russian customs. Now in 11/2004 they say they are on order?
