  1. http://www.gzanders.com/bearammo/ Check the link Silver Bear and Brown Bear ammo are made by 4 different Russian companies. So saying one of them is better would depend on who the ammo you have was made by?
  2. It is part of the design. The different pressure curve, volume of gas, and the slower moving projectile than a rifle is why it is there. If you want better sights that is why there is a scope rail on the side of the receiver.
  3. Email EAA and ask them. The last time I did was several months ago and they said July. Off course they ran the first ad for the those rifles in January 2003. I have emailed or called them every 3 months since then and always get the same reply. "They will be here in ________(insert month here),Held up in Russian customs, blah, blah, blah" THe month inserted into the blank was always 3 months later from the month I emailed or called them.
  4. Every where I have hunted (TN,AR,MS) has no legal hunting limit on the number of shells a shotgun can hold. Except for migratory birds(ducks, doves, geese) which are governed by federal law. Federal law states that a shotgun is limited to 3 rds when hunting migratory birds. The first Saiga 410's imported came with a 2rd and 4rd magazine. The 2rd mag was to comply with federal law for hunting migratory birds. The 2rd mag had a spring guide that was molded with a part that stuck up and contacted the follower limiting it going down far enough to hold more than 2rds. I really didn't have any use
  5. http://www.eaacorp.com/firearms/saiga/shot...iga410gat.shtml They list 19" and 21" barrels. The 21" is the standard length as that was all that was imported till a couple of years ago when they started importing the 19" barrel model. You have a full choke and a thread protector not a cylinder choke. When the thread protector is screwed on the shot doesn't touch it on it's way out of the barrel. Notice the Saiga choke set. http://www.eaacorp.com/parts/saigaaccessories/choke2.shtml
  6. The wholesale for a Saiga 410 is $159 + $17.99 for a extra mag + shipping + FFL fee = So $220 sounds about right. Just remeber that it won't function with 2-1/2" shotshells or US mfg. slugs as they are 2-1/2" shells. Mine works great with any brand 3" shotshells and Barnual slugs. The Barnual slugs group into 6" at 50 yards with the screw on full choke that came on my Saiga.
  7. "3 bills" for a MAK-90 sounds like the way to go as it is a much better made rifle than the WASR-10. The WASR-10 is a Romanian rifle that when imported could only use 10rd mags made only for it. Hense the -10 in the model name. They were modified to use regular AK mags by grinding the mag well opening out bigger. Doing this violated this ruling so US mfg. parts were added so it would be classiflied as a domestic mfg. rifle. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/assault/treasrelease.htm After this ruling the quality control on the Romanian rifles has really gone down hill.
  8. The correct mount for all Saiga models imported to the USA is the mount model COK-AK.C6.17-01. Which is the EAA one CDNN has with the built in rings. But the others they have will work just fine and are more versital as you can mount anything on the weaver rail instead of just a 1" scope like the EAA mount.
  9. MAK-90 barrel-heavy barrel finish-blued trigger-best trigger pull of any AK rifle every imported SA-93 barrel-skinny barrel finish-black paint trigger-fair My vote is for the MAK-90.
  10. Any pistol shooting I do past 25 yards is done resting aganist something(tree, fence post,etc..) or sitting at a bench resting my elbows on it because I want to hit what I am shooting at. I have gotten pretty shakey in my old age(46).
  11. Only Chinese SKS rifles that use AK mags were imported. There were 3 models with 2 of the models having 20" or 16" barrels and one being imported with 16" barrels only. There was one pre ban model and 2 post ban models. The pre ban model was the SKS Sporter and it can be found with 16" or 20" barrels. These had a standard SKS type folding bayonet and the same type stock as a standard SKS. There was no model name stamped on the reciever. The post ban model SKS-D came with 16" or 20" barrels with no bayonet or bayonet lug just a block of metal where the bayonet lug should be. The ones first o
  12. The adjustment block is pressed into the front sight block so it is a tight fit. Then the post is screwed in the adjustment block. The sights are set at the factory and a tool is used to put a witness mark on the front of the front sight block and adjustment block. It is a modified chisel that is struck with a hammer. This is why the front sight windage is so hard to adjust the first time and a lot of people break their front sight tools . Before using a front sight tool a brass punch and hammer should be used to whop the hell out of the front sight adjustment block till it moves then the
  13. I bought a MAX-1 L/F when they first came out in 1995. It has been 100% reliable out of the box with all fmj ammo reguardless of brand or if it was military surplus or reloads. It won't feed jhp ammo that has exsposed lead on the tip of the bullet. For the $238 out the door price it is a very good value. It has around 1500 rds through it now and never had a single problem with the gun itself. The only failures to feed have been with 2 of 7 unmarked mags I got at a gun show real cheap that had bent feed lips and some types of jhp ammo. Winchester Silver Tips and Remington jhp feed fine. A
  14. What you bought was Yugoslavian M67 ammo that was imported a couple of years ago. The M67 has a 124 grain flat base copper jacketed lead core bullet loaded in a brass berdan primed case with corrosive primers. Some people seem to think that it having a case made from brass and the bullet jacket made from copper is something special compared to other imported 7.62x39mm ammo that has cases/bullet jackets made of steel. It is good ammo, But..... it is corrosive so clean you gun accordingly.

I emailed them several times and got no reply. I have emailed twice in the last 2 months once about reloading tools and once about the clamp on front sights. Both times the reply was and I quote, "WE can't send items in USA!"

    Ammo storage

This is from the horse's mouth, the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturs Institute . http://www.saami.org/ One important product of the SLARAC Committee is a video, Sporting Ammunition and the Firefighter, which was produced by the Committee many years ago. The video analyzes the characteristics associated with the small arms ammunition when it is subjected to severe impact and fire. When a primer ignites, it causes the propellant to burn which creates gases which, when under pressure in a firearm, send the bullet down the barrel. Pressure created by the propellant being burned is w

http://www.prodiz.ru/katalog/katalog_prod.html They have all the good stuff but won't sell to anyone in the USA.
  18. Ditto what Bvamp said. Lighten up man, straighten your tin foil hat and put the f*cking crack pipe down! Who cares what a 16 year old kid posts? FA990 is just part of a plot by the govt. and the anti gun groups to discredit.......... sorry my tin foil hat slipped off a little, but I straightened it out now so..... If his posts upset you just ignore them and don't read them. I fail to see what a "16 year old punk" could post that would cause the fall of western civilation as we know it. That is unless you are using the dollar store brand tin foil and not the Renolds bran

  21. No the AWB expires Sept 13 of this year and has no effect on Tigr rifles. Check 47.52 (b,) (1) as it is a list of firearms approved to be imported from Russia. http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx...27cfr47_02.html The Tigr rifle was on the list but was removed from it. The "sporting perposes" clause of the Gun Control Act of 1968 was used by the BATF to remove it from the approved list.
  22. Russian scopes have almost twice the amount of elevation/windage adjustment as scopes made for the American market. So the rail being mounted off some doesn't have as much effect as it does with non Russian scopes. I have read on the AK-47.net about several members that had the problem of the rail not being mounted straight. They shimmed the mount. Here is a pic by one of the members. The 3/8" shim was added to get more height for the large objective bell of the scope to clear the rear sight. Adding the 3/8" shim required that longer bolts be used instead of the screws. A washer was added to

    SCOPE MOUNT

AK108, The mount you have is not a Saiga mount. Check out the clamp for the SAR/VEPR/Saiga. If the clamp on your mount has the same bolt pattern it would fix your mount for use on a Saiga. http://www.nightvisionweb.com/side_adapters.htm Or get you another mount. The one with the rings is the real Saiga mount and is imported by EAA. The other two work fine also. http://www.cdnninvestments.com/ak.html

    SCOPE MOUNT

The front of the mount should be open and the rear closed. The mount should slide onto the rail from the rear and the back of the mount should act as a stop when sliding the mount forward on the rail. It should butt up againist the rear of the rail and be rock solid so there should be no movement forward during recoil.
  25. Ditto what G3 said. The 7.62x39mm Russian hp is not going to act like any American made hp ammo. The Russian uses a steel jacket that is copper plated on all bullets. The only difference between the fmj and hp bullet is the tip is cut off the hp ammo to make the hollow point. The hp doesn't open up but allow the lead core to flow and the bullet bends into a U shape when it hits a soft target. As you can see from the pic of a brochure of Golden Tiger ammo made by the Vympel factory in Russia.
