  1. Thanks KM - Yes, I do realize that its no good as a substitute for live firing and would never count on anything that had not been very sufficiently tested at live fire. I just didn't know if the same very specific problems that some people seem to have with the AGP mags shows up in hand cycling or only in live fire? -Scott
  2. Given the ups and downs I have seen on the AGP mags, can I assume that because mine hand cycle several different brands just fine that they will feed just as well during live fire? -Scott
  3. THANKS INDY! That is a really nice write up and helpful. I got my .308 apart last night but wasn't sure how to clean. I did have a HECK of a time getting the firing pin assembly back into the carrier and then into the receiver - it just didn't want to fit back in the receiver unless I held my tounge just right. Now I am afraid to take it apart again - sort of. -Scott
  4. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showto...field+stripping Found this one - any more? -Scott
  5. Ok, I'll admit I am breaking rule #1 and not researching to find the answer before I ask, but that doesn't seem to stop a lot of other posters so.... This is my first AK style anything - in fact its my first rifle. Is there a thread or link that gives a good step by step (with pictures even?) for us neophytes on how to break down and clean. Obviously the factory manual (which I have read by the way but don't even understand all the terms even if they were properly translated) is not great. -Scott
  6. BTTT! Been There Tried That. Every time wifey says "will you ever sell it?" Recently I have been responding with "if I have two of them..." -Scott
  7. +1 Quality scopes can cost as much as the weapon itself (I am finding out). Putting on and taking off could screw up the scope. As inexpensive as the .308 is, it is a wise investment in protecting your scope to have its own .308. Note that this argument works very well in a circle. The above is good to get you the .308 even if you don't have the scope already. THEN, well, you have the weapon that is supposed to be dedicated to the scope so you now need the scope... P U S H ! -Scott
  8. Thanks to all for the advice so far - give me more!!!! I am not too worried about it being a Chinese copy as it will be coming directly from Leupold's corporate offices where both wifey and I used to work (many many moons ago). -Scott
  9. I have a rare opportunity to purchase any one Leupold Scope at well below cost. I don't have anything except my .308 that could realistically benefit from a scope but am not sure what size/model would be the best. I was looking at some of the POSPs because they seemed like the right thing to do, but with this deal available I don't know now. Can you all help with some experience and advice. Is anything more than a 3-9x40 really going to be helpful on my 16" .308? If so, how big would really be beneficial? Any models of Leupold stuff you like or hate? I honestly don't know whether I care
  10. I can vouch for the fact that the website is really clear that they will not be available until June. My surprise was that knowing I would be waiting until June I ordered last week and low and behold three of them came Monday!!! THANK YOU! These things are awesome guys - now I have to go find the best deal on a .308 to go with them. I did send an email off your site with a couple of questions. -Scott
  11. Wifey (my wife) looking over my shoulder commented: "She doesn't look exhausted, she looks ticked off that you spent your money on that shotgun and not on a ring for her..." Funny, all I noticed was the beautiful lady and the weapon. Guess women have a slightly different perspective! -Scott
  12. My experience on other boards is that this is not as much of a problem if you think about this as a community of friends looking to share with each other. If all you want to do is unload stuff and you don't care who to, #4 could be a problem. If someone says PM sent and has some questions, I think they should have a reasonable chance to have their questions answered before taking it. "Is this a 109?" is a reasonable question to ask before making a decsision. You can always tell the second "PM SENT I'LL TAKE IT..." that "another member has shown interest first and if they don't take it,

No one except those that want to comply with the law. Do some searching here for "922*" in the search field and spend some time reading the HUGE number of posts that you will find that deal with this issue and you will get lots of answers, and maybe even a few more questions. I know I have gotten more questions! -Scott
  14. Wouldn't let me edit my response. Pronunciation thread here my response was based off what I read over in the other thread; giving the most credibility to the Russian native (whose name I don't recall - sorry). -Scott
