  1. Maybe it's one of the early ones from the early '90s? I bought one of those used for $300. Jammomatic. Hardly ever got more than a round or two out of it in semi. Lots of fixes here on the forum for that problem. Best fix is getting some parts out of a newer one . Yeah right! BUT! I actually found a 410 parts kit on GunBroker for $150(Buy Now). I didn't mess around and jumped on the Buy Now. Saiga parts are like gold. And that was before the Ban. Now it's running like a clock! With a K-Pup stock it's my go to "bump in the night" gun. Has two ten rounders taped together with another in the rob
  2. Looks like a twenty incher. Did your stock come with yours or did you pick it up later? Because if you picked it up later, you can attest to what I said about the difference between the factory synthetic and the wood sporter stocks. Another nice touch is a Mojo sight. With that barrel it'll probably help accuracy even more than it did with mine. I forget who made it but I also have the cross-hair front site. Just line up the two circles. Naturally that steps the price up over the original $370 for the gun and (later) factory wood stock, but it's still less than many plain-jane factory guns out
  3. Because accuracy and reliability don't cost as much. Considering I purchased mine in 2007 and the stock a year later with everything totaling about $370 all told, life is good. And it's as accurate at 100 yards as my buddy's Mini 14. I don't know when he bought his, but he said he had it a long time. Assuming it's one of the older ones. Those things look like a bitch to clean! I'm always done a long time before him. A lot to tear down with those. And with all the stories I heard about the Mini 30s with steel ammo.........well, I think I'm better off. From what I'm reading these days the

  5. Mine had the synthetic sporter stock at first. Then I found a factory wood sporter set that I like a lot. The pistol grip area has more curve to it where the synthetic one almost felt like an English stock. I still consider it my "poor mans" Mini 30.
  6. Ouch! $250!? I guess I got lucky, found one on GunBroker For $115 about two years ago. Handles better than the plastic" almost English " stock and dresses it up some. They can be found. But one needs to be vigilant in their search.
  7. Hi All and Happy New Year! Bought a saiga 410 years ago, it's a first generation. Quickly purchased a first generation ten rounder for it. Needless to say, had all the problems that went with the first generation saigas. Didn't work well with the factory fours let alone the ten. Finally spotted a parts kit from a second generation 410 on gunbroker with the shutter and all the rest of the internals. Got everything changed around and now it works great! Factory fours are great as well as a couple of second generation ten rounders. Anyway, still had that problematic first generation ten rounder.
  8. Due to current events, decided to keep mine. 410 ammo is around. I'll shoot that instead of dipping into the 7.62 stash. Recently cut the receiver cover and Kushnapupped it. Turned it into my "mall ninja" toy with a laser, red dot and flashlight. Maybe I'll get some pics up after wringing it out. Been too cold to get my wussy ass out to shoot!
  9. Just finished a Gen1 Kushnapup conversion myself. Was going to sell it but .410 ammo might be the only ammo to be found for awhile. I cut the old stock to extend mine instead of the tang. Still have another old buttstock laying around if I want to go back. Had to cut the receiver cover some for extraction purposes. Hopefully I cut it enough, weather's been too crappy to go out and try it. When the weathers nice I'm busy. Used a CSS rail for a cheap red dot. So I still have to sight it in. Love the way it shortens it up. Don't feel the need to cut the barrel anymore. My barrel is of the 20 + va
  10. Strap in and get ready for a rough ride people. I feel for the families. Give them all your prayers. This is so wrong. BTW, I didn't read any of the posts, but be gentle and keep in mind we might have a member who is related to a victim. God Bless.
  11. Hey All! I have a 410 that I'm planning on selling. Went to Gunbroker and Gunsamerica for an idea of price ranges. Holy Crap! Did they jump that high due to election? Last I looked at them, they were in the $375 range. Even the used aren't cheap. Mine won't go high since it's one of the older pre-ban ones. 3 inch only. Never did get around to taking care of the FTE prob that I posted about awhile ago. I know what to do as per way earlier posts. Keeps getting put back in the locker with the hope that Saiga parts will become available........yea, right. I don't think that those shutters and a
  12. "30 rounders look cool, but if you are stuck with 10 rounders, get an SKS chest pouch and a stack of Saiga factory 10 rounders. They are really much handier" Agreed. I have the wood sporter stock and I'm happy with it. Why add the bulk without the benefit of the additional ammo? Eventually I'll change out my FCG and then I can run some American thirty rounders, but it's not a priority right now. Got other Saiga issues at the moment.
  13. I probably shouldn't be one to add anything since I haven't converted yet, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express......... Ok, jokes aside, I really haven't converted anything yet but I've been doing a lot of reading here lately. My interests have been kindled due to owning a 7.62X39 and a .410. Most of my reading is about fixing the .410, but I've been checking a lot of other things as well. It seems to me that if you're going to jump in with both feet and go for your ultimate build in one big swoop, then yes you are going to pay the big dollar. If you're willing to go a little at a
  14. The weather was nice this weekend so I went out and tried again. Same problems. Did try shooting it without the cover and found it works great with no cover. So last night I started reading all the threads from the beginning and worked my way back to page 15. It seemed that almost all of the posts by that point were about those new-fangled .410s with the fancy dial- a -gas setting stuff. Turns out that the cover was a big problem back in the days of yore. I also sent PMs to a few members who have the same old fashioned style of .410 as myself. Found out from one respected member that the older
