  1. What breaks? Springs? Castings? FCG? Extractors? Firing Pins? ....? They're not quite as simple as an AK, but not bad. Like all Rugers, they seem robust. Thought they were based on a proven design....or did Ruger mess it up somewhere along the way. Bob Extractors and firing pins seem to be the weak points, especially (mostly) with steel cased ammo. The bad part was (until recently) Ruger would not sell replacement firing pins even to gunsmiths (you had to send in your Mini for repair), and the aftermarket firing pins sucked.
  2. It seems to do it whenever I click on a google search link to a thread here.
  3. +1 The pictures do not do these justice. I've only had the chance to run twenty rounds through each (at the range), but I've run hundreds of dummy rounds through manually. Function is 100%! Thanks!!!
  4. If you order from MRE Depot, you might want to order small quantities, and check them thoroughly. There've been a lot of people getting dented/damaged cans in pristine boxes (indicating the cans were placed in the boxes already dented). Also reports of cans near the expiration date, and canned beef containing beef by-products. People using discount codes/group buys seem to be the hardest hit. Not everyone (or even the majority) but enough to cause concern. So far, Steve at MRE Depot has not made good on the bad cans or products. Here's a thread about it with pictures (requires regi
  5. Yes, the ones I got only the follower was russian. So two 922 parts. The new ones were supposed to be all US made. The last ones they sold had only one 922r part (the body), they used Russian followers and floor plates.
  6. I am using Tromix set and there most def is a left to right play. Where do I find a spring that would fit over the trigger axis pin? Also, I will be using a retaining plate, so the spring would be pushing on the plate, not the receiver, right? A small washer will work better (IMHO) than a spring.
  7. At the very least, you'd have to drill the receiver for another cross pin. If you're going to do that, you'd be better off just doing the PG conversion, IMHO.
  8. With the way the Siaga 308 factory trigger works, you're pretty much limited to the factory stock, if you don't want to do the PG conversion. As you've discovered, the Siaga 308 factory trigger and the Tapco T6 do not go well together.
  9. AFIK, 'Castle Doctrine' generally refers to defending your home, and the 'Stand Your Ground' laws apply when you are not at home (but are somewhere you are legally allowed to be).
  10. Handguard (depending on which one) would be easiest. A gas piston would be much cheaper (and only a bit more difficult).
  11. Because it fits over the barrel and FSB, the required internal diameter of the threaded portion is quite a bit larger than that on an AK-74 brake.
  12. Well Florida does have much better gun laws, but he may be a bit disappointed in the weather. The temperatures may be similar, but execpt in Winter, the humidity is much higher in Florida. Plus, no cool nights in the Summer*. *- In Florida, we have three of four months of 'Winter' (weather similar to what Fall is like for most of the country), with the rest of the year pretty much all 'Summer' (hot and muggy). Note: North Florida Winters do tend to run cooler than in South Florida. On the other hand, no state income tax (yet). I say yet, because with so many refugees from the socialist
  13. Another vote for the Choate. I had an ATI and sold it. I have Choates on two .308's and one .223.

  15. Since you already have the stock and pistol grip, a FCG, pistol grip nut (and screw*), and screw(s) and nut(s) to reattach the trigger guard should be all the parts you should need. *The SAW grip you have takes a shorter screw than a standard grip (you should be able to find one at a hardware store if you take the pistol grip nut in to check fit). Dinzag sells both the FCG and nut. If you intend to retain the BHO, Dinzag's Saiga FCG's have been altered to work with the BHO and are polished (or you can do this yourself to standard AK FCG's). He also carries screws & nuts to reattach th
  16. You can continue using the 6 position stock after a conversion. I've not seen one of the "Tapco all-in-one stocks", so can't tell you if the pistol grip can be reused after the conversion. The stock will work, it's just a few inches longer than the standard T6 stock. The pistol grip can also be removed, and used in the standard position (with the proper pg nut and screw).
  17. Yeah, I just bought some Uncle Mike's studs from Brownells and replaced the Saiga swivels with QD swivels.
  18. Do you have one of these (or something similar)? If not, it would proably help protect your shoulder from recoil. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/...leitemid=284105
  19. Any plans to make one to fit the Saiga .308?
  20. You didn't say whether the barrel is threaded Saiga shotguns with threaded barrels are imported with 14 922r parts. Tapco FCG -3...............14-3=11 DPH Tri rail -1..............11-1=10 (save receipt) CAA stock - 0...............10-0=10 CAA pistol grip +1........10=1=11 US made mag -3...........11-3=8 So, you're compliant as long as you use US made magazines. If you want to be able to use foreign mags swap out one more part, i.e. a gas piston or US made muzzle brake. If it's a shotgun with unthreaded barrel you're already set (since they start with 13 922r parts).
