  1. Golden Bear is uses Brass plated steel cases. Silver Bear uses Zinc plated steel cases.
  2. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Greatmoose, you're right*. But the Saiga already comes with one of those 'evil' features, a detachable magazine. A detachable magazine (of any capacity) is one of those 'evil' features. A magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds (5 for a shotgun) is another 'evil' feature. So as an example, a detachable 30 round magazine would be 2 'evil' features (and 922r would apply). Another example, a Saiga rifle with the Tapco Intrafuse would have 2 of those 'evil' features (a pistol grip + detachable magazine) with a 10 round magazine, or 3 if a 30 round magazi

  4. The part of the hammer through which the cross pin passes is too wide on the G2 for the BHO to fit. You will need to grind a bit from the side where the BHO goes. Your Saiga hammer can be used as a guide to how much material to remove. In order for your safety to work, material needs to be added (by welding and grinding) to either the FCG or the safety. If you're not comfortable doing that, a standard AK safety will work with the G2 FCG. Here's one: https://www.apexgunparts.com/product_info.p...products_id/304
  5. Is this rifle made by Arsenal, Inc. of Las Vegas, NV, or Arsenal USA of Texas?
  6. I take it you contacted Elk River Tool and Die via email and got a response from the owner of this place? That's what happened to me at least. I emailed ERT&D about cutting the flanges in my barrel and I got a response from this guy offering to do the work through his company. Wierd. 7. I'd try a bunch of different makes of AK mags first. If they all feed, I'd probably sell the bullet guide (or save it for the next conversion) .

  9. In Texas, if you have a CCW, no call is made. Just the 4473 is filled out, cash is exchanged and off you go. It used to be that way in Florida, too. But, when they changed the concealed weapons license law that changed. The downside, you now have to do the NCIS check (and pay the fee). The upside, they increased to length of time between license renewals and lowered the renewal fee. Private sales between individuals still require no check, and no paper work.
  10. Edited: Question deleted, answered in another thread.
  11. His site appears to be down this morning. Edited to add: It's back up now.
  12. The single hook requires a bit less work to install.
  13. I think going to that page is where some people are getting the idea they need to replace six parts to comply. It might be less confusing if they instead go to the Saiga specific 922r checklist on the same site: http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/BuildSaigaVerifyCompliance

  15. My mistake, Dinzag includes it with the Saiga .308 FCG. Any small washer that fits over the hammer pin should work.
  16. It not 'illegal' until you change something. Saigas are imported in 'Sporting' configuration (as determined by the BATFE). 922r does not apply to 'Sporting' rifles, so the parts list is not applied. Now (again as determined by the BATFE), adding certain features to the imported rifle renders it unimportable (so 922r now applies). For example, adding a pistol grip and/or magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds (5 for shotguns) causes 922r to apply. If you want to use a magazine that can hold more than 10 rounds or add a pistol grip, then 922r would apply, and your foreign 922r p
  17. Installing the BHO will take care of the side to side movement of the hammer. If you don't want to install the BHO, a small washer (like the one Dinzag includes with the trigger) placed on the hammer pin to the right of the hammer (the side where the BHO would go) will also work.
  18. Thanks! But I don't understand why it reads "14 illegal parts"? If there a 14 illegal parts, then how would we even be able to purchase one in the first place? Why would I check,or un-check the stock parts of the rifle? It comes stock as a "sporter rifle",so all parts are compliant... Maybe I just need a freash cup o' joe? I'm thinking that if I check the un-checked "pistol grip" or "muzzle" I will then need to begin the process of elimination? i.e...changing parts to the acceptable 10 limit? I thinking of just using a the skeletonized buttstock with a hi-cap mag... would I not be in complian
  19. The Saigas are not imported with a pistol grip, so adding a US made pistol grip does nothing to help with compliance (adding a foreign pistol grip will actually add another foreign 922r part and take you farther from compliance). Also, I don't believe any Saiga .308's are imported with threaded barrels (only some of the shotguns are).
  20. It's legal as imported, as long as you don't use magazines that can hold more than ten rounds. I can't get your links to work, but adding a scope and mount does not effect 922r compliance, nor does the skeleton stock. The rifle is imported with 14 922r parts, so replacing 4 would allow the use of magazines that can hold more than ten rounds. If you stick with Surefires, that would take care of 3 of the parts. Change the gas piston and no more would be required for 922r. No, as long as you use the gun as imported (and stick to magazines that can hold ten rounds or l
