  1. Would the person with the initials M. S. please claim their grip? I received a USPS money order with the memo "wood AK grip" but nothing else. Happens often, and usually I can figure it out, but this one I'm still stumped on. Please PM me with the rest of your name and address so I can connect the money with the order and take care of my end. Thanks!
  2. Please check this thread for latest updates: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=11156
  3. Thank you for serving, and I greatly look forward to your return. Your special US Mil heritage style stock will be waiting for you.
  4. I'm not a betting man, but I'm slightly inclined to make some light hearted low stakes bet that you'll be asking your father for your S-12 back in the near future. How does a handguard sound, to match that factory beech buttstock?
  5. Checking the first couple pages of a forum for threads on the same subject is appreciated, encouraged, and in fact expected.
  6. That article is hilarious. No, it's not real. I don't think any cartridges developed to date are designed to run 82,500 psi.
  7. The sites are attached to main components of the shotgun, so I would guess that they're attached in-house and not sold separately. Something to remember with the 6" barrel - half of that is the shell. So effectively it's like a 3.25" or 3" barrel. If I ever got an SBS, it would probably be a 10" minimum.
  8. I understand that Tromix is stacked very high with orders and isn't taking new ones until September. Congratulations on being the most popular Saiga conversion smith around! What I'm most interested in is the anticipated offering of a Saiga-410 conversion to 444 Marlin. I know that the opportunity was offered for a guinea pig to do it at material cost only, and I wasn't in a position to consider it. But when/if the conversion is developed and proven by Tony's initiative when it fits his schedule, I'm interested. Three questions: 1.) When would Tony begin doing these conversions? I
  9. And I'm game pending pricing, schedule, and such. Actually, on that subject, I might suggest/request that even if the schedule to do other conversions won't be open for a while, if the basic price and specs could be offered people could more firmly express their interest.
  10. If you're going to do a caliber conversion, it's more practical to build it fresh on a kit, particularly a current barrel-less kit. There has been at least one 50 AE conversion done by a fellow by the screenname "Meeper" known on the FAlFiles and Gunboards. SKSs are not cost effective to build anymore. The machining would cost more like $800. But they would be nice for a barrel conversion on existing ones. One company used to do them but I think they stopped. As a donor gun they would be pretty dang cheap if all you were converting was the cartridge. I would love an SKS scout s
  11. ETA on incoming orders is September, when I'll be completing the next batch.
  12. These sets are for the PSL only. I can custom make stocks for converted and converted Saigas independently of this group buy. E-mail or PM me and/or check up on other threads for my portfolio of Saiga furniture.
  13. I'm on the same page as Mike and Bvamp. The hammer should be cocked back before the bolt is far enough back to catch the next round. I would look into replacing the FCG. There should be plenty of FCGs out there from all the conversions. The trigger and linkage wouldn't be the problem, just the sear (formerly trigger), disconnector and hammer. SOMETIMES mismatched parts can malfunction, so make sure you use a matching FCG.
  14. Here's the scoupe for this thread: Many people have been interested in Romak III / PSL sets for quite some time, and I have been limited by the fact that I don't have a PSL on hand. In this time, PSL prices have gone through the roof as availability has dried up and as much as I'd like to get one I haven't been able to at a reasonable price. Romakdaddy's set a.) didn't have 100% standard PSL parts and b.) was done with a level of constant cooperation including a bit of final fitting by him. Some have been interested in something similar but none of those orders have taken off, and I think com
  15. If Saigas go DD, a few members of this site whose states don't allow DDs will mutate into zombies and eat all other Saigas and their owners. And there's a big difference between a couple people working on drums and us being able to buy them. Not trying to join the unobtainium accusation crowd, but there seems to be a lot that needs to be done between now and the time we could actually buy them. I think we'll be lucky to see either in a workable 2.75" version by election time.
  16. Regarding the ATF and DD status, they are more likely to rule it a DD if people keep asking them about it. It's like if your neighbor calls the cops on you even if you aren't doing anything wrong, the cops will give you some instructions so that no one can accuse them of not doing anything. If the ATF wants to declare the S-12 a DD OR declare the combination of S-12+Drum a DD, let them take the initiative. Some people are so anxious about it becoming a DD in a non-DD state that they are actually prodding the ATF into doing something about it. Ruling a mag + gun combination when there
  17. That's strange. I got it this morning in a wishlist that E-mails me new ads daily.
  18. I think the list of people who would like to be involved with Tromix is a long one. Hiring another person makes everything a lot more complicated, including most importantly quality control. If you like what Tromix does, let him keep working the way he has, and if he finds someone he wants to bring on board on his own initiative, you'll know it's being done in his and everyone else's best interests. Congrats to Tony on having the very good problem of too many orders.
  19. Sore for all of us because it hurt this forum. My version is that the development of a drum was announced here against the clearly expressed position of this board. It was marketed with rude and profane words against everyone who opposed the idea, for which the developer has since apologized. He was banned from the forum and a misunderstanding among moderators caused Cobra to be banned by another mod. (I'm using the term misunderstanding very loosely and euphamistically.) Then, another drum was advertised on its own site. Nothing this forum can do about that. So with the idea that
  20. If you want the highest capacity pump imagineable, put a 10rd extension on it, one made for the short tube. With the long tube, it would be even more than 10rds. Then you could use Aguila short shells, which feed in the defender, and have even more capacity still. You'd have to use a longer barrel though, one made for the short tube, with a spacer in between the mag tube cap and the barrel band. A model called the "practical defender" has the 8rd tube and a 22 or 24" barrel with chokes and rifle sites, and was designed for competition. I'd love one myself, and have been seeing one a
  21. http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976881971.htm?wl=1 This is a good price on the most popular model. I paid only $10 less when they were just starting to dry up.
  22. Here are the first group progress pics with more to come. You'll notice that the machining stages for fitting come first, and then on some items there's some basic contouring before they start to take a smoother shape under shaping tools. Some folks here may recognize their orders, but this pic is not all inclusive. There are several more sets that are at the same stages that just didn't fit into the picture at the moment.
  23. You don't install the trigger and linkage when installing my US made FCGs. Some of us have used binding posts for cosmetic hole fillers, but if you're using it to pivot I'd say you'd need to start fresh. Perhaps an undersized screw with a bushing so that the threads don't rub against the trigger or link bar?
