  1. They were advertised LONG before jan 2003, I think spring of 02, course I may be wrong.
  2. FA, Looking back over your posts, I've seen a few misunderstandings between you and other board members. You, however, have been a complete rude jerk with such persistence that would get you banned on many of the more official forums like Gunsnet, Gunandgame, and others. You are a GUEST here. I don't think you walk into a public store and insult the sales clerks. Even though the doors are open here, you are still a guest. Treat people with respect. Granted you were merely posting an ad for your father. But you can't blame people for taking it the wrong way when you don't frigg
  3. Modify mags means modifying each and every mag, and not being able to use then in standard AK. Modifying rifle need only be done once to use any standard mag. Trust me, do the rifle. And it's legal to do now with the necessary US parts.
  4. The difference between 16" and 18" on a 308 is significant. You'll notice a differenxce in flash and ballistics. The 22" is more efficient.
  5. WHERE IS THE DAMNED LAW? Illegal to import a mag over 5rd? Never heard it. As far as I know, it's a business decision by EAA. Break another law by inserting it? FIND THE DAMNED LAW, after you find the first one. I'm really tired of this "yes it is" "no it isn't" crap And no posting links as evidence that actually do not say what you're claiming they say.
  6. It's not a theory, it is based on the knowledge of many soundly informed members of Gunsnet and Gunandgame. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but there may have been an ATF letter saying that. What's really confusing is that they are allowed to be imported due to their "sporting" nature, but it still counts as a restricted feature under the AWB. It is very easy to get the idea that thumbhole stocks don't count as pistol grips, but they have consistently been found to be that by ATF and I think courts too. I think it was 1996 that they established that indeed they do count as pistol grips be
  7. The thumbhole counts as a pistol grip, but is considered "sporting" so though it affects the restricted feature quota of the AWB, it is allowed in on imported rifles.
  8. Tooling is on its way. I expect to have a finished prototype by the end of the month and a stock by mid July in time for the PGCA gun show.
  9. The stock is standard Romanian that comes on WASR-10s. Putting one on a 12ga Saiga would be illegal until the ban expires. The 410 is a gray area being under 12ga.
  10. The base rifles are great material for conversion to US compliant config, and soon post-AWB-expiration, with folder stocks and attached bayo lugs and threaded barrels. Gun shops should learn about this and learn to do it. I'd be doing it for people if I had an FFL. Then those Saigas would be worth their weight in gold.
  11. I need a rag for my keyboard. That actually looks a bit like my design for the G3 mag adaptor for the Saiga 308.
  12. If you mean Gunsnet, they are commercial and have had a long history of learning experiences, from which they have developed a variety of rules relating to advertising I wouldn't worry about posting a distributor link here. Now if you were a distributor and syphoned up Saiga12.com's bandwidth to advertise, that would be different.
  13. That's a good question, but it would be the trunion, not the receiver that you drill and tap for a machine screw. As I said, I just shoved a properly formed PVC pipe section in there. Some have tried JB weld for metal to metal. Feedramps are an art more than a science at this point.
  14. Alas, the good old days of the $275 SAR-1 are gone. And those older than me will tell of the $199 MAK-90 of old. You're paying a fair price, not a whopping good deal. If you want a whopping good deal, find a Saiga 7.62x39mm for under $200 and convert it yourself. You not only get a great gun at a great price, but you get knowledge too.
  15. If you like to fondle your own breasts and want people to watch, may I suggest voyeur sites. We're all connected to the internet and can see you fondle your breasts elsewhere if we so choose, but don't be surprised if a mostly male mostly heterosexual gun oriented website's membership doesn't go for the sight of a teenage boy fondling his own breasts. Of course that would be illegal, because if you're too young to buy a rifle you're too young to be photographed nude.
  16. Yes it was, and a few people tried to prosecute, but it went nowhere because she's Sarah Brady.
  17. I hope you're using US compliance parts there in your Saiga. If so, please post pics if you can, we all love to see how others do it. Generally you install a feed ramp to guide the bullet into the chamber. Standard AKMs have these already. For me a piece of PVC pipe filed into shape and pressed into place has worked so far, but a metal pipe or an honest to goodness bullet guide from Kvar is better. You'll have to shape it accordingly. Try going to the Saiga conversion page frequently linked to. Or buy Messiah Jones's Saiga conversion CD.
  18. I too recommend the Saiga 308, and am happy to hear real hunting stories from a real hunter up north. Hats off to you! I would love to hear more stories.
  19. I don't think any new manufacturer will be able to match the price of G3 mags these days.
  20. Any bore over 0.5" is a Destructive device except for shotguns. Even if rifled, it counts as a shotgun if it's a shotgun gage. The thunder 5 is chambered for 45 Colt primarily, and accomodates 410 shells, but is first and foremost a pistol round.
  21. I have the same problem with my 98/22. Perhaps penetrating oil will work as well as it did with the tang screw.
  22. An AKU-94 bullpup kit should work, perhaps with modification, but wouldn't be legal till the ban dies.
  23. The '94 AWB includes the hi-cap law. They are not separate laws. The separate law has to do with rifles made from imported parts.
  24. 10rd has been made, I used to see them for sale, and didn't realize how rare they'd be by now. They're pretty pricey. Not worth in it my opinion. Like some other things in life, try not to be too fixated on size
