  1. The 7.62x39 has a rim diameter of 11.35mm and a rim recess of 9.56mm The 5.45x39 has a rim diameter of 10mm and a rim recess of 8.60mm The ak74 extractor claw is about 1mm too deep for the 7.62x39. A file can fix this in just a few minutes.
  2. I have e-mailed CGW twice in the past 3 months about S-12 and x39 parts and have never received a response!! I also have a note into RAAC in Scottsburg for some parts so we will see who responds...... I emailed RAA a few time since last year about bolt parts. They are not going to get any imported according to the reply I got a few times. They have been importing these guns since 2006 and never got parts for bolts. Eaa before them also did not did not get any according to their customer service. Your best bet is adapting ak74 surplus parts. I'm pretty sure the saiga extractor spri
  3. I compared the saiga factory firing pin with a surplus ak74 firing pin. I couldn't see any real difference. I inserted the surplus ak74 (5.45)firing pin in my saiga 7.62x39 bolt and it fit perfect. I examined the pin protruding into the breach face and it worked flawlessly. I left the surplus pin in my bolt and and hammered the retaining pin, and it fit fine. I am going to live fire my saiga with the replacement firing pin when I get a chance next week. I doubt that it will pierce a primer even with a smaller frontal contact surface, but I will check the primers from the fired cases
  4. I found a spare kit and removed the retaining pin from my bolt. I compared the saiga factory firing pin with a surplus ak74 firing pin. I couldn't see any real difference. I inserted the surplus ak74 firing pin in my saiga 7.62x39 bolt and it fit perfect. I examined the pin protruding into the breach face and it worked flawlessly. I left the surplus pin in my bolt and and hammered the retaining pin, and it fit fine. Finally, I reinstalled the assembled bolt into the saiga and pull the trigger. All worked fine. The firing pin was rechecked to make sure it wasn't wedged after the hamm
  5. Firing pins are something that can potentially break and having a spare or a few is not a bad idea. I don't think RAA is going to bother importing spare parts. This is a do it yourself type of thing.
  6. The 7.62x39 pins are too short. The 5.45x39 pins appear long enough. The saiga is more like the ak74 pattern rifles, but I am not sure if the pin is the same. My saiga bolt has a free floating pin (no spring). I think I have read somewhere that a free floating pin will work inside of a spring loaded bolt but not the other way around. Free floating Spring loaded
  7. I noticed the saiga firing pin looks longer than most ak firing pins for the 7.62x39 rifles. Will the ak74 pins fit correctly as a replacement?

  10. Absolutely. Sold pending Funds on another board still waiting on which accessories the buyer wants
  11. Sold pending Funds on another board still waiting on which accessories the buyer wants I got a used Saiga 12 24 inch barrel with pistol sites and bolt hold open. Less than 100 shells through the barrel. I'm the original owner. I camo painted it a bit. I'm hoping for a face to face deal in SC. If no offers, I may just ship, but for now local only. $500 includes one 5 round factory mag The gun must sell first, and then I can also part with some accesories. Gun buyer gets first claim to any accessories. This will be cross posted on other forums
  12. The Benelli M4 has a big following, but I would have to agree that the Saiga is far more reliable.
  13. I would imagine that these came from the factory with the mag extension. This would mean nobody actually had to violate the 922r assembly rule.
  14. I guess the factory one holds 9 I would think the Los Angelos ones are stock factory police contract
  15. Talking about law enforcement, I found this rather interesting on that same site. The M4 shotguns that were already mag extended for police work beyond the typical 5 rounds were causing a panic with the BATF when private ownership was the case. Without actually violating the 922r law, simply passing a higher capacity shotgun out of the armory caused the stir. Who would of thought that uncle Sam even still cared about stuff like this. What does the gov version hold in the mag tube 9 max?
  16. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread...6694&page=2 quoted 01-25-2009, I am in the process of working up a quote to build the trunions and barrels for Florida law enforcement on these shotguns. It will be my first in depth analysis of them (Saigas). Having said that, it is safe to say that if FL has given the nod to departmental use and acquisition of them, they must be fairly decent.
  17. I think so. The only thing I would prefer is a vent rib some where for fiber optic sights.
  18. I already did for both types. It was heavy recoil, but manageable. It felt like the gun took more of a beating than the usual buckshot load.
  19. The Brenekke 3 inch magnum 1 3/8 oz slugs and the Remington 3 inch magnum 7/8 oz (1800 fps) seem pretty intense.
  20. I called Nodak to verify this and asked. They list theirs as receivers. Nodak also confirmed the rule about once a buttstock is inserted into one of their receivers it can never again become a pistol without proper NFA means.
