It's sad to see the forum slow down,but it's understandable. I used to log on daily for years but it's only every few weeks now,partly as I have done "it all" with so meany saigas now that I feel I know them inside out without having to look for info anymore and what new info that is on the site is mostly about bolt on parts that are almost imposable to get in my part of the world. I built a 300 blackout ak and it was a lot louder than at ar upper I replaced it with. It's still worth suppressing a ak, for your hearing sake and just to be polite to others in the area. And if your shooting at something alive it can be very handy for it to have no idea what way to run eg I got three red deer in under 10 seconds recently as they ran towards me after the first shot (308 supersonic) Have used mainly lead pills for subsonic and have never had any of the issues people seem to be worried about.

I had that problem, after a lot of reading I found a post( maybe even a sticky ) detailing how to extend the "hood" that extends back into the action from the top of the chamber. First gun I shot was some sort of .22 I have no idea what it was. They go for between nz$150 and nz$200 new in New Zealand depending on who brought them in. Not always available but shipments come in a few times a year. They have a removal spacer in them that cuts the capacity down to 7 rounds to comply with our law. I'm 99.99999% sure it is legal for us to export them

You know, for almost all my shooting life(well over 3/4 of my life) I have wished I was a US shooter rather than being stuck with my country's laws. I'm not in the USA so I'm comenting bassed on what has happened in the rest of the world. Ammo will come back so as long as you have some you will be ok, rifles will get much more expensive and possably a lot harder to get and parts like mags will become pure gold

It takes very little work on the mag to make aug mags work perfectly. Nice light strong mags and in my part of the world you can buy twenty of them for the price of any other sort of mag
