  1. IMO the 7.62x39 round doesn't have enough recoil to warrant a break. Muzzle climb can be controlled with proper shooting mechanics.
  2. Put a block of aluminum against the fsb. Take an airhammer against tthe aluminum. It will slide right off.
  3. That is a beauty of a rifle! As for the Tapco stock, I hear all this crapco stuff to. So I took mine out to the old locust tree and 20 buttstrokes later no problems. I think they just don't cost enough for some people. That said, it's just begging for a plum 100 series sidefolder IMO.
  4. You're very welcome. 100 meters.
  5. Get your sight tool and use this target at 25 meters. Enjoy the new rifle.
  6. All this talk of high prices makes me feel a little bit guilty. I just bought 400 rounds for $40. 50 rounds of copper washed AP, the rest Wolf. Buddy was selling a SKS and the ammo he had. He named a price I gladly paid it.
  7. Gave my girl a new look. Flash suppressor, stock, and rear peep sight.
  8. Knocked the barrel off. Trimmed the fsb on the mill. Cut .600" off barrel and recrowned it. Threaded it 14x1 lh. Put it all back together. Still the same length it started as ,just now has the hider. Tim Foreman at Gewehr Werks in Tippcity Oh did the machine work. He let me look over his shoulder and help with the pressing on and off stuff. I couldn't be happier with the results.
  9. Wouldn't we all like to buy some more ammo at these prices.
  10. I used a block of brass against the fsb, and then an airhammer against that. Slid right off.
  11. I meant no disrespect to Roseberry. There has always been a common ribbing between the Army and Jarheads. Most combat vets have a brotherhood others would not understand,Army or Marine.
  12. When I was in Kosovo ( 101st Airborne) the Marines were known as "not even there". But I know what you mean, going from a CIB , Bronze star wearing trooper,to a want to be Rambo myself.
  13. The easiest way I have found is to use a short flat screwdriver. Put your rifle in a vice supported under the sight. Put a little tape around the screwdriver blade to protect the finish. Place the blade in the grove of the rear sight right between the pins. Push, and I mean push, straight down. No need to pull it back. The sight will pop out slick as a whistle.
  14. If things do get "rough" that KT warranty isn't going to do you much good. I have nearly 5000 rounds through a Saiga with only 2 FTF (mag problems). Secondly AR mags are cheap. There is a reason for that. They are made cheap. The good ones (H&K MagPul) on the other hand are not cheap priced or made.. 5.56 ammo compared to 7.62x39 ammo is no comparison at all in price. The choice is clear.
  15. Seriously ? Not one answer.
  16. Today at Bill Goodmans gun show they had Arsenal/Saiga 107s for $667. Wish I had the extra cash!
  17. Bought some Bulgarian steel mags today. I thought I got an alright deal at $18 a piece. I get them home and degrease them and the follower is plastic. They function great though. I have never got any mags with plastic and was wondering if this is common, or if I got took. They where sealed in a plastic bag with a little sticker on them that said " Made in Bulgaria". They are in like new, if not new shape. Real beauties as far as mags go.
  18. The bullet guide is very easy to install.
  19. How about something that doesn't cost half again as much as the rifle ?
  20. I have never owned or used a Bulgarian. I have on the other hand, owned a Century. That being said, I would go with the Bulgarian.
  21. , Thank you for the interest in Tech-SIGHTS and the AK sight. We are very excited about how this sight is working out. It has been needed for a long time. We are entering in the tooling up stage of the product. Our intention was to machine the sights ourselves but soon determined that it was too costly for us to do as the sight required a good amount of machining. We have decided to do a MIM part which boils down to a cast steel, not cast iron but steel, part. This will give a quality sight at a reasonable price. However to do this tooling will require a couple more months on the
  22. Very true you have your irons but they are closer together which makes them less accurate as the tech sights. (how far down 36 are you?) Maybe something like the Tech sight that would flip down out of the way until you need them would be optimal.( I'm outside of Greenville)
