  1. I'm a little confused, is the device a brake or a flash suppressor?
  2. 6500rpm: Looking at your picture it looks like you need to cut so that the top of the handguard is just about level with the top of the side surface of the Ultimak, at least on the .223. Am I seeing that correctly?
  3. Does anyone have any advice when it comes to modifying the Factory Saiga handguard to play nice with an Ultimak? It looks like a chunk of material will need to be removed on each side, anyone else done it? Any suggestions as to tools or technique involved? Also, I've got a can of the matte black Rustoleum Specialty High Heat that I used for another project, Anyone have any luck using this to cover the unfinished part on their receiver? Edit: and thirdly, the X39 I'm working on is one of the pre-EAA ones and doesn't have the PG opening, what are the key reference points to measure by in
  4. Get one of the quick release rails rather than the ones with the set screws.
  5. Well I still don't have my camera back and I don't think this will fit in the scanner. The rifle is a Kalashnikov USA Import, I'm assuming that means it's pre-EAA? It came with 3 what look to be modded Russian 30 rounders, but despite that I don't think this has been shot much, as stiff as everything was I don't even think it had ever been stripped, let alone cleaned. (bore looks unfired, though I know that can't be the case) I'm gonna get out to the range saturday and make sure it shoots straight. Then, surgery. PG, Fixed stock, flash suppressor, piston, FCG and glass of so
  6. Local, it was $295 out the door. I'll try to remember to post some pictures when the girl comes back with my camera. Not sure what I'll do with the modded 30 rounders. Sure as hell this thing wasn't 922r compliant when he pulled it off the shelf with the mag locked in.
  7. Like the topic says, I stumbled across this guy when I was looking to set up a transfer from Classic Arms. I haven't seen the rifle yet but I've been wanting a 20 inch for loooong time to set up as a DMR. If I remember correctly, there are accuracy concerns with the 20 inch EAA rifles, I'm not sure whether this is that old or not. I'm gonna go see it in an hour, If it looks good is $280 a solid deal For the rifle, and 5 mags?
  8. After doing some reading, are Tapco and Armory the only two outfits offering US-made Pistol Grips? Shit's the word if that's the case. If I'm right about that, I may have to build this one in the DM-ish setup i was thinking about with a fixed stock. What would I be looking at for options on a US made butt stock? I don't want the M4 style, so totaly fixed is what I'm looking for.
  9. Well, I hate the Saw grip, what are my other options?
  10. My x39 is on the way to my FFL and I'm on the net shopping for parts! If i'm using a non USA stock and the stock handguard, what am i going to need to do to abide by 922r? Will the trigger group and gas piston put me in the clear? I'm trying to decide between a Romanian style side-folder (there seem to be several variations being sold as "Romanian" right now) and the '74-style triangular one. And then there's the voice in my head saying to skip both and stick with a fixed stock for better cheek-weld with a scope. I'm gonna grab the CAA pistol grip with the interchangeable grip
  11. I tend to agree with the JPFO. On atleast one of these I am using the russian '74 style side folder, so I'm gonna have to work for my parts count on that one. I wasn't planing to vent the gas tube but i can see how that would be very helpful for the bullet guide, was planing to keep the handguard on one of them for sure, maybe I'll dress it up some.
  12. So I'm getting ready to do a couple of 7.62 Saiga conversions, what should I pick up as far as tools go to make this as smooth as possible? I do have some tools around the house but for the sake of this thread let's just assume all I have on hand is a hammer and some flat and Phillips screwdrivers. I know the basics/bare minimum: Drill, flat and round files, punches, carbide drill bits, rotary tool. But what I'm looking for is a list of the tools I should have on hand to make this as smooth as possible.
  13. Maybe a stupid question, but where can i get one of those skeleton side folders?
  14. The best of both worlds really when you're talking 9mm.
