  1. Here's my contribution. I shot 30 rounds through my 16" 308 yesterday. When we were going to bed, my wife said "what happened to your arm?" I had some small bruise marks on my shoulder from the recoil. Those marks were considerably less than when I carry a 30lbs on my shoulder through the airport and much less than 30 rounds of birdshot in a 12 gauge. I actually feel more recoil shooting from the bench than I do standing unsupported. And I can't double-tap with a 308, unlike a 7.62x39, as I have to recover and get back on target. You know when you touch off a 308. It
  2. DTakas - Thanks for the info and congrats on a beautiful rifle!
  3. All, I have a Millett DMS 1x4 that I'd like to mount on a Saiga .308. I'd like to know if anyone has mounted a similar scope on a Saiga and their experiences with eye relief and chin weld on an unconverted Saiga. My cheap (~$30) AK side rail scope mount doesn't work on my Saiga (it does on my 7.62x39 WASR), as it flops off without any lockup along the bottom of the Saiga rail. And my attempt to use a high profile side mount rail like this convinced me to switch to lower profile rail. Anyone have a low profile side rail weaver mount they'd recommend? Thanks for any help!?!
  4. I ordered two magazines last Monday and they arrived by USPS Priority on Wednesday. Impressive. Total cost was $99. That said, I haven't wrung them out yet.
  5. I'd second Bill's comment. I shot a 2 inch group with iron sights this weekend with a 16 inch barrel. Off hand, I shoot regularly in the 3-4 inch range. This isn't a testament to me. Frankly, this rifle will reliably shoot much better than my skill level. What is your intended use and necessary range? Will you mod the rifle? That might help you discriminate on the best barrel length.
  6. I'd love to see if your buddy has any other deals like this.
  7. I bought a beautiful 16 inch .308 for $325 ($345 with tax) two weekends back. I felt I did okay, but hearing of $500+ base Saigas is outrageous.
  8. I think this is the one - http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php I used it to buy 1000rds of 7.62x39 this week. Sure helps.
