  1. I've been able to get the Winchester PDX short enough to function with the SGM mags by using a BPI .410 roll crip tool. I set my calipers to 2.750" and run the crimp tool in my drill press down onto the factory crimp until the shells fit through the caliper jaws. Works just fine in the SGM mags after that. Federal Handgun buckshot is still too long for this tweak though...
  2. +1 to this. I've done this exact thing as well as shortening by 1" to add a slip on Kick-eze slip on pad to add some cushioning without adding any length. Heck if you screw one up you can find a dozen guys who'll give you a stock for the price of shipping... How much shorter do you want to go?
  3. Not totally familiar with the rules here about posting links, so...type p/n 189985 into the search bar.
  4. FWIW, the CSS internal block, Ace pignose adapter, and UTG mil-spec buffer tube are essentially the same price, but this combination gives you some vertical adjustment with the stock placement for a better cheek weld. Yeah, you gotta chop the tang, but there is no legit reason to go back to a standard stock...
  5. Outstanding! Glad to hear you're in business. Ran mine through it's paces this Sunday - both performed flawlessly.
  6. I ended up getting a new Mec 600 jr from rrarms.com. Despite everything I read about .410 being finicky to reload, my experience with the Mec was quite the contrary. Picked up some Rem. wads & #8 shot froms the local supply shop. Bought half a dozen boxes of Winchester AA HS 2.5" shells from Walmart, and that's kept me going for a while now. Don't remember where I saw that review, but it was on some retailers review section for the shells...sorry, but I've slept a while since then...
  7. That's outstanding for 5 shots - now you need to see if you can replicate that at 100 and see how the cold barrel first group does. Also, FWIW, cool thing I've noticed about .308 is that the 200 yd. measurements usually show a tighter measurement in MOA than the 100 yd. groups. Not exactly sure what happens between 100 & 200 but just about all my .308s do this... Congrats - you've got a keeper!
  8. Recently, I ran across a couple different reviews that were S410 specific stating that users experiencing some rounds having the rim ripped off the hull, and giving it the big thumbs down for use in a Saiga... The .410 is what started me reloading shot shells, with hulls on hand, you can load a box for about $3.50...
  9. Yes and no... The 20 is an interesting mish-mash of S12 and S410/standard AKM parts. S12 style bolt, gas system, mag placement & only style-ish with center support ( square block that also is the ejector tip); S410 mag catch, BHO, rails, and again style-ish with the center support (while square, it's a bar & not a full block like the S12). Reason for pointing this out is that if you're just reworking the original trigger guard and tucking it behind the mag catch or using a bolt on version like CSS sells (yes!), but if you want to rivet on an AK74 trigger guard assembly - think
  10. Test two with Winchester fodder - fail town, big time... Thanks for the link on the wedges!
  11. Please put me on the list for at least 2 - thanks!
  12. Well, I suppose I can't say that the minor tweaks I did will fix an S20 that has some serious issues, but I just got back from the range and put a box each of Federal 7/8 oz @ 1290 fps and Federal 3/4 oz @ 1400 fps through her and not a single malfunction there with the 3" magazine. I also had some Win AA reloads to test, but they were too weak to eject the spent casing & squishing the hulls, so I only shot 5 of them so I didn't mangle up too many hulls. I've got a CSS reduced power recoil spring that came with the "reliability kit" I got for my 12 that I'll try with those shells ne
  13. Excellent writeup, post, & pics...but I want to hear more about this...what was your S12 doing on a golf cart? This sounds like a sport I could really get into!
