Where to find unmodified stock handguards?
coma8coma1 replied to paternoster2012's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
i noticed this one http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/index.p...products_id=145 when i ordered my Tapco T6 M4 style stock and pistol grip, but it might be cheaper to get one from a member who's done the conversion. Looks more like a butt stock to me oh, damn. i shoulda read the OP first -
convertion legal in Maryland?
coma8coma1 replied to CardBoardBoxProcessor's topic in Saiga Rifle Conversions
apparently you can do 'em yourself with minimal effort and know-how. i've been toying with the idea for a couple eyars now and finally just swapped out the stock for a Tapco collapsable to make 922r compliance with SureFire mags -

Saiga Conversion Video (DVD Format)
coma8coma1 replied to Messiah Jones's topic in Saiga Weapons - General Discussion
a DVD would be great. the price is nothing compared to what it would cost for a noob to totally screw it up. -
Your firing pin is either seized or damaged of has something cooked into it and if it was removed and cleaned with a good lube like militech when you first bought it it would still be functioning perfectly even in the cold or desert despite an infrequent maintenance schedule. you should remove your firing pin and inspect it(and your extractor) and look for a foreign substance other than typical fouling(cosmoline, paint residue, flaked off chrome) as well as burrs or bending because I honestly have only seen this problem once under those circumstances with a Kalashnikov other than early Chine

Actually, it looks like they came in a bit over budget (assuming this is the stuff you're talking about): Ammo .223/5.56 NATO Igman 200 Round Battle Pack 55 Grain M193 FMJ, 10 boxes of 20 per Pack Item #: AMM-238 Our Low Price: $92.97 Club Price: $88.32 Value: $699.95 Your Savings: $606.98 (86.72%) Club Savings: $611.63 (87.38%) http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM238-65307-66.html I guess I better order up a couple of hundred rounds, so I can save myself over $600... ;>) LOL! hey, if it's worth $3/round i've got a few boxes i'm willing to part with!

When I think of tough firearms that can take any abuse and keep on going, of course I think 'Kalashinov'. But, somehow 'GLOCK' never comes to mind. This guy uses and abuses a GLOCK model 21 .45ACP pistol in ways I would have never thought of and documents it all in detail with descriptions and photos http://www.theprepared.com/index.php?optio...;id=90&Item I only ever fired a GLOCK 21 once, and I didn't like it. The overall weight made it sting the hell out of my hand when fired and I remember thinking it felt like a toy to handle. It was ugly. Everything about it just turned me of

i too have been looking for a better sling for my .223 and I'm tempted to buy one of these http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SKS633-825-1159.html for about $5 and spray it down with some black vinyl and upholstery spraypaint from Advance Auto or Auto Zone.

Great deal on Brown Bear- $95 per 500 includes shipping
coma8coma1 replied to wlnt's topic in Reloading and Ammunition
i didnt have alot of luck with Brown Bear .223 when i picked up a few boxes for $3.99/20rnds awhile back at the local Dick's Sporting Goods. The price was right but the performance was terrible. Very inconsistant from round to round. One guy pointed out that my spent cases were going all over the place; some forward, some to the right, some straight up into the roof of the pavillion. This tells me the action is coming back at unpredictable speeds due to however much powder they decided to put in each one. And dirty as hell. Good thing I like cleaning guns. But worth the price. Yeah , it's like putting 22" spinners on a '69 Camaro SS. Classics weren't meant to be messed with
