Are there any parts I can change on the shotgun (without doing the conversion) to allow me to legally use the 10 round mags?

Just bought a Saiga-12 today. Can't wait to shoot it. I'm going to order some 10 rounders for it tonight. Question: what ammo restrictions does this shotgun have? A gunsmith told me it won't shoot certain types of light loads, is that correct? Or does this shotgun shoot anything? It's my only shotgun. Are there 8 round mags too? Can I legally use the 10 rounders without converting? I don't have the $ to convert right now. Tell me what ammo and mags I should stay away from if any. Obviously, it will be a self defense gun only, but I want to take a shotgun tactical class

I like my Saiga 7.62 with skeletonized stock. But what sling do you recommend and how does it clip on the skeletonized buttstock?

Like Scout said, get the Saiga's NOW - they aren't getting any cheaper, I gaurantee You: about the same w/ ammo - get it NOW! Load Up - it will only get more expensive. I think I'm going buy another Saiga next week, before I spend the almost $200 on the Ace Stock PG Set I was gonna get - do I want a .223 or a .308? Hmmmm.... Very accurate! I just bought a Saiga 7.62 with a skeletonzied (Dragonov style) stock and love it! I took it to the range for the first time today, fired 80 rounds from standing position. After getting used to the rifle for the first 40 rounds, I was able to put 22 out of the last 40 in the red center ring on the target (about a 3 inch circle)! Since I've never fired any type of AK before, I think this rifle has better accuracy than I'm capable of and certainly enough accuracy for any combat situation. Here is my take... I started looking at this board and trying to figure out the whole imported/922r/etc. The FAQ doesn't do it well. It reiterates the law, which is fine for attorneys and people who know everything there is to know about Saigas. A few posts into the thread , you find a bit more information, and so on, and so on. What about the Surefire 30 round mags for SAIGA's. They state they are modified in the USA. Would those be illegal?
