I have seen first hand info from one of the first responders who was actually there, arrived while the guy was still shooting. He'd been on the wrong end of incoming fire numerous times while in the military and he was confident there was only the one shooter. I don't agree with the way NRA caved in on the bump stocks, but it could end up going a lot worse for us. Time will tell whether that is a smart play or not. If nothing else, it puts the ATF in the hot seat of having to explain some of their rulings, why a bump stock with a spring is verboten, and one without is OK, etc. Bump stocks are stupid to begin with, and while I oppose the blaming/banning of an inanimate object, I will be overjoyed if that is all we end up losing out of this. If he wants to serve, he could get a job at a defense contractor. I did just that after my Army career, and I don't regret it. I can support the people who serve, providing them with my best, helping to keep America strong and free. Yes, I really believe in what I do.
