  1. Links? Tutorials? Looking to put one on a gun with no handguard retainer. Does the little cross pin just tighten it up and its good to go? It can't be that easy.
  2. How do you install one of these on a gun with no HG ret like a Saiga 223. Tutorial? link with pix?
  3. I have a Saiga 223 all converted and duracoated and with welded on G3 sights but ran out of money when I first did it and used a Tapco Galil style bolt on HG which I hate. Since it is refinnished and welded up HK sights I dont want to press off the front and put on a HG ret (which I should have done in the first place). Been thinking about what to do up front for a long time and thought about an Mp5 handguard but dont know about fittment and what keeps it from sliding forward? Anyone know how to do this?
  4. The stock came from AKfiles or theakforum... off the classifieds. However - I did see that Brownells is now carrying Kvar - check them.
  5. You need a complete triple frame front sight assembly with thr frame/sight/pin. Then you cut the top off of the snowman and weld it in place. You need a complete rear sight assy. Get the in the white bases, unless you feel like milling off the old G3 receiver stub from the used ones. For me it was worth the extra 8 bucks for in the white. I will try to get some pix up later.
  6. I have not come accross a pad I like much... still looking and open.
  7. Hey mods - this would be a good sticky tutorial - "How to put an HK sight on an AK....." I just did a pair and had to wade through a bunch os searches to get it done. (take a look at my posts of it. Good advice can be found on this site but the search feature lacks. Take a look at my .223 and S-12 posts. RTG parts has complete front and rear HK G-3 sets for $56.
  8. I finally got a Saiga and got her done. She is my mail order Russian bride. HG retainer is Dinzag. Tapco cut down galil hg, Tapco SAW grip and FCG. Swift lever safety, KVAR buttstock, gun has HK sights welded on (cheapest HK sights I found was from RTG parts), Sling is the MASH style made by me - (LMK if you want one I have many ) gun was duracoated by TRIDENT INDUSTRIES in Corvallis, Oregon and 762llc of Albany Oregon helped out a bit too. You cant go wrong with those guys. They are awesome to deal with. I am not a fan of the Tapco hg - perhaps a rail in my future for this gun. I would like
  9. Finally got my Saiga .223 done. It is not a "Correct" AK by any means but It works for me... I am actually quite fond of it.... front sight pushed off and pin holes re-welded then turned 1/2 x 28 and AR15 flash suppressor installed. The HK sights (RTG parts - cheapest I found) welded on. HG is TAPCO... wish I would have put a HG rt. on when I had the barrel off but oh well.... I see a rail HG up there in the future. SAW grip, holes in receiver welded up, KVAR stock, surefire mags... sling I made (LMK if you want one - I have extras ) Tapco FCG. Rear sight block welded up (amazing job there b
  10. I got my HK sights from RTG parts... with the virgin base. I had them welded on locally and am awaiting refinishing... I am hoping there is enough adjustment in them to make them hit POA/POI! Kinda worried about that...
  11. Everything seems like it would be much easier for me to put my safety in LAST (fighting the other parts in/connecting to a Chinese style L wire retaining spring/TAPCO axis pin retainer, etc...etc...) - there is some mention of marking the BHO where the safety slides through to grind clearance and allow this but it does NOT seem to be commonly touted as "the way." Curious as to why not??? any "I wouldn't do that if I was you because.....xxxxxx" If there is no reason not to I am inclined to fire up the dremel... just want to check before making an error..
