  1. What condition would you rate this gun at sir? Has it been in the woods hunting? How many times? Thanks.

I've taken it hunting 4 times. I've taken it to the range twice. I sighted in a scope on it and once for target practice. It hasn't been abused at all. I don't know how to rate guns but I can take some close up photos of any parts and email them to you if that would help.

  2. Honest post, not a troll.

The rifle is indeed a rarity, and worth more than you paid for it... IF.... if you can find someone who wants it as a collectors piece.

However, I do not see the demand getting the asking price, but you may get a better idea of it's real market value via any sincere offers.

I would love to have one if I had the mad money, I might max out upwards of a Grand if it was an auction.

You of course, may set any price you like, g'luck with that.

Hope you get a good price for it, it really is a collectors piece if no others are ever imported.

I'd hold on to it for 4-5 yrs and see what happens with Russian imports, what with the developing news.

ETA: Then again, if the import rules change and the floodgates open, you may lose the investment value.

    Again, nice Saiga.

Yes, that is where I'm at. There is no cross post btw, just here. I've never purchased or sold a collector piece. This is really new territory to me. I jumped on this rifle because it was a great rifle that unfortunately no one bought. How does someone determine a price for a gun that is the only one being sold in the country? That is a hard thing to do. I have a friend that purchased a republic of texas 30-30 for $4,200. It was one of 100. That is the only collector gun I have any experience with. It is kind of a delima for me. Do I price it too high, I don't know? But if the gun goes to someone, I would like for it to go to someone here because most people here love the brand as I do. That is why I didn't go straight to gun broker where a guy is looking to trade a valmet for $3,000 or for a saiga 100 in 30.06. It is hard to determine a market price when there are none for sale. I appreciate any sincere advice.

  3. I really don't want to sell mine. I'm just info gathering at this point. They are hard to find and I can't find any for sale. A friend of mine just purchased a limited run 30-30 that only had 100 in the run. That gun cost him 4k. Is it that kind of market for the saiga 100s? It is frustrating to not be able to find any info on them. I figure if anyone knows the market, guys here would.

  4. Figured I'd give anyone that was hopelessly looking for spares a little glimmer of hope. Rifle is inbound in the next week. Should have prototypes done shortly after.

Current plan is to make 5s and 10s. I'm not totally sure the magazine catch can support a 20 round magazine bucking through recoil. Plus 922r parts count is hard to meet anyway.

Anyway feel free to post your thoughts.

Do you see any 30.06 mags in the future also?

  5. It seems odd that with all the time it likely took to make the 30-06 that they only made 50 of them.... It seems like such a waste.

Actually someone semi local PM'ed me saying that they have one. At the moment I have my hands full of projects, but come mid fall or early winter I'll probably contact you for a test sample. Obviously with only 50 rifles out there I'm not thinking of this as a big seller, I'll probably sell 40-50 mags total.

I'll buy some. Your 308 mags are great. Now all I need are 30.06.

  6. I picked up a Saiga in 308 last week and finally got around to ordering a tapco T6 for it as well as a couple of the 20 round surfires for it as well..... damn the factory stock is fun to remove...... any way just wanted to start this so I can post pics once I get the stock installed...... any advice for the stock removal ?

Make sure you take out all three screws. There is one in the stock under the receiver cover.

  7. I have been trying the search function, without luck. Now I am asking for some help in finding it. Esentially I need to find pics of installing the BHO and the pin clips.

This helped me with the BHO

. I used some small retainer clips for the pins. Got them from Dinzag.
  8. Here is my vented hg, using a drill and a file. It was more of a PITA than I'd expected, getting everything to line up. I think that if I'd had a drill press it would have been easier.

here's the same gun w/ a Galil style hg installed in place of the original. Same chair too... Anyway, the Galil style is the only option I know of which will let you show the barrel and gas tube in original AK style w/o replacing the gas tube.

As far as mags go, got a bullet guide and Orlite Galil style poly mags. They're sturdy as H, and have never had any feed issues.

I went w/ FCG, PG, and buttstock first. Then got bullet guide and mags. Lastly, the new hg. Hope any of this helps.

Did you reinstall the Bolt Hold Opener? I am in the middle of my first conversion and I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it or not. Thanks.
