  1. Eat your hearts out, guys. I bought my Saiga-12 when CDNN had a Labor Day sale in 2001 and were letting them go for under $200.00. I think my total paid with the FFL transfer was around $214.00. Yeah, it is a plain vanilla 22" barrel gun with no bolt hold open. The only modifications I've made has been to add a red dot sight with the Bellorussian mount and I'll tell you the gun will cut clover leafs from the bench at 50 yards with slugs. Sighted for slugs at 50, I've found it shoots buckshot nearly to point of aim at 15 yards (OK, it's a little to the right, but who cares?). Now I'm
  2. One book I read a long, long time ago had this line, "Beginnings are always the hardest thing." That is as much true of any business startup as in personal life. Sure, things go wrong. But you cannot go through life distrusting everyone for that reason. I don't know Mike Davidson; I have never met him. However, I think it is possible to judge people by what they post and with whom they post it. For those reasons, I have no doubt that sometime before the end of this year UPS or whomever is going to be dropping one of Mike's drums at my doorstep. All good things are worth waiting for.
  3. I have dealt with Centerfire Systems about four or five times over the past years (C&R guns and ammo only). They are good people to work with, but of course I am biased. The only time I ever won anything in my life was an SKS from Blue Broker.com, their subsidiary.
  4. Today I took out my AGP 10 round magazine to the range for its first trial. But before I say anything about that, I have to mention that I have a plain vanilla Saiga-12 with the 22 inch barrel and no bolt hold-open. The only thing different from stock is that I have added a red dot scope on a Belarus scope mount. 1. Initially I filled the magazine with 2.5" shells. I was able to seat the magazine with the bolt closed by turning the shotgun upside down. But the first round wouldn't feed. Neither would the first in a nine load. When I downloaded to eight rounds, it fed and so did the r
  5. "1" is for heavy loads, not light ones. I think I mistated the setting. The "1" is about at the 2:00 position; the "2" is next to the detent. The reason called this the "light load" position is that I looked at the shape of the gas cylinder lock. I figured the angle is to admit more gas, and it is down (which I assume to be open) when the numbers are as described. Is this the light or the heavy load position? Am I right or wrong? The instruction book which came with my Saiga is really the pits.
  6. I'm in for one. Please let me know when I can give you my credit card number for the initial deposit. I wish I could afford more. I have to wonder how a drum with 20 rounds will affect handling. That leads to my sling question in another area of the forum. Lynn K. Circle
  7. OK, my Saiga-12 is stock early 22" barrel. No hold-down, no modifications other than a red dot sight on the Belarus rail. I want to add a sling to it for a lot of reasons but especially since I think my forthcoming purchase of one of Mike's drums will add a lot of weight. I have an almost perfect black leather sling, with one problem -- the sling is maybe 1/8 of an inch too wide for the little narrow rings on the Saiga. I cannot alter the sling; it is sewn leather, and trying to trim it down will make it look crappy. I tried removing the rings and bending them, but it seems they are high
  8. I want one. I'll spend an arm and a leg to get it, but I want one. Will it cost more than my shotgun did (Bought it for $200.00 when CDNN had a Memorial Day sale a couple of years ago)? I had to pass on the ten-round magazine because I was tapped out when my name came up. But I'll start saving for the drum right now. Lynn K. Circle lynnkcircle@netscape.net
  9. Two questions: when will one be available? Secondly -- will I be able to afford it?
  10. I ordered some S&B slugs when Natchezz had them on sale for something like $6.50 for a box of 25. Three round shots give me touching holes at 50 yards. I haven't tried sighting in for 100, though.
  11. Thanks to all who responded. And yes, this is my first time on the forum in about three months. Time's fun when you're having flies! Question -- did the BATF approve these, or is that another possible hitch? (I thought they got rid of the streetsweeper by classifying any semi-auto shotgun with a ten shor or better magazine a destructive device.) Hope the answer is a big fat NO; I don't want to be a party pooper and would happily order a couple when they are available.
  12. One forum member was tooling up to produce and sell 10-round Saiga-12 magazines. I haven't heard a think about it for more than three months. Is the project on or off? Did the BATF intervene? What happened? Lynn Circle
  13. S&B worked 100% for me, both buck and slug. Their slugs grouped better than Remington Sluggers.
  14. I went to the range yesterday and sighted in my Tasco Red Dot for 100 yards (I'd previously done the same at 50 yards). Something had gone wrong with my right contact (or eye; find out tomorrow!) and I had a lot of trouble focusing on the dot and target, so my results were minute of elephant (say, maybe a 10" group) While I did blow out the center of the target at the end, I don't know if that was good sight adjustment or dumb luck. S&B slugs seemed to shoot a little softer and group better than Remington sluggers. If I didn't TRY to aim, but held the gun as steady on the sandbags as p
  15. And how about the Sellor & Belloit?
