  1. I finally got to put my hands on the vepr this weekend. It definitely feels more substantial than the saigas. The fit and finish is a level above. It does feel a bit nose heavy not too much but noticeable. I hope to get it out to the range this weekend see what it will do. I don't know if i will change the trigger to the tapco g2 as the width of the trigger seems a bit narrow. I guess i am just used to the tapco's trigger. the veprs trigger seems a little on the heavy side but that will lighten up with use. I am not sure about the grip angle of the wood stock,,,,i am used to the hogu
  2. Guncats: dam! Centerfire systems emailed me yesterday and they have vepr .223 an 7.62 x39 for $499.00
  3. Thanks for the info Rhodes. DAM!!! Its an end of an era. This will probably mean that other manufactures will bump up their prices. No wander i couldn't find a new inexpensive Saiga. Glad i i have the 7.62 x 39 and .223 in the gun safe. i was going to sell the 7.62 x 39 and all my mags and ammo to fund gearing up for the .308 but now i may just go on a TOP Ramen diet for a while to make up the funds. Hmmmm!!!! Still i love my saigas and had it not been for the great price on the Vepr I would have continued to look for the Saiga. I can't wait to get my hands on the Vepr and
  4. no that sucks. No wander i was having trouble finding a decently priced saiga. Dam!!!!! the end of an era!!! I am glad i have the 7.6 2 and .223. Thanks rhodes.
  5. Ok. Update!!!! I made up my mind. Especially with the price that Centerfire systems has. $599.00 for the vepr 308. i got the 21 inch barrel. the hunters and supers are at $899 right now. I can't believe i missed out on the $499.00 left hand stock ones. Anyway after agonizing forever here's why i decided to go with the vepr. One the obvious reinforced rereceiver and cold hammer forge barrel. already converted and if i want to ....there is a rereceiver mod that i can buy from carolinas shooters to change it from a slant receiver to square for about $40.00 bucks. I figured i will shoot it

  9. OK back to the original question at hand. i have been thinking about getting a .308 myself. I have looked at the vepr but it seems as though accuracy is about the same as the saiga .308. weight advantage to the saiga. mags saiga. price saiga. i really like the way CSSpecs and red308 weapons turned out. thats the way i would want mine to turn out. i am thinking the 21 inch barrel is the way to go....getting the most out of the round regarding velocity close/down range. I am assuming the weight would be no more that a saiga 12 . In looking for a great all round weapon an
  10. im in for that price. give us the number.
  11. rent it out......don't know about letting someones skinners foundle it and for money. It would make me feel cheap......Still thats a dam nice hand gun. hmm... maybe the 1911 swedish mauser????
  12. I have been itching for a smith and Wesson 25 45 long colt. I missed slinger big chunks of lead. I mean the glock 20 10mm is fun but there is just something about those big bad 45 long colts. anyway..... every time i think i may sell the S12 to fund something I take it out and shoot it. Man i don't know if I could ever part with it. It is just so dam nice to double tap 12 gauge rounds. yeah it may be a bit heavy but i haven't found a softer shooting shotgun. Mine has always shot the cheap winchester bulk ammo and jammed on the Federal bulk. I am getting it tuned in for those now. I do have
  13. the 1000.00 price tag makes me kringe. SpetsnazGRU can you post links to your research since no one here has responded. it sure looks nice. i would be willing to sell my S12 and mags for one. got to love the wood.
  14. anyone have any real world experince with the super? really nice but 1000.00 price tag. Ouch!!! still i would sell my S12 for one.
  15. Anyone have any info on these. man that looks like a sweet rifle. I would really like to hear some real world experience with one of these. The Vepr Super .308 Vepr .308 Super Limited Edition Target/Sniper Rifle - Gorgeous wood and beautifully checkered............Photo above shows mount ( included ) with optional scope. - - Vepr Super 308 .308Cal, 21" bbl, 1-5 and 1-10 Rd mag, manual, and a Free Factory Scope Mount. This is one of the nicest rifles I have seen come along in a long time with true innovative improvements on standard AK characteristics.
  16. have you shot it yet? what do you think of its weight and handling?
  17. Okay, i just finished several hours of searching and reading this thread and other info. definetly looks like the 16 inch barrel is a viable option. The main thing is velocity loss and that doesn't seem to be too awfull. It seems that 600 yards is generally considered the max effective for the 16 barrel and that is more than i will be ever be shooting any of my rifles. Now I just need to find a way to quiet it down and reduce muzzle flash....Oh yeah and find a way to fund it. here are a few of the links: http://www.snipersch...e-barrel-length http://www.tacticalo...com/SWATb
  18. i have been looking at this as well. Hell Gunsite and Ruger have done well marketing this rifle. I am still flip flopping over barrel length. If you check this article out the gunsite guys suggested a 18 inch barrel but was nixt by one of thier higher ups. Also the steyer scout has a 20 inch barrel which Copper collaborated on its development. http://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/ruger-gunsite-scout-review/ i like the ultra reliability of the bolt action rifle. This barrel is stepped down or tapered to provide extra rigidity which will provide better accuracy. Then mag capacity
  19. Happy to help. If you go to AR-15.com and click Ar-15 and then click Ar-15-piston I believe that there is a bunch of reviews there on the CMMG. In fact I checked this morning and the was a new post about someone experiencing problems with their kit. There's too many there to link. If that Osprey comes with the bolt carrier, then that's a SUPER Deal. Especially if its the new kits with the Fail Zero coating. Seriously once you run and own a piston a while you will change your mind about what the AR-15 is capable of. I treat mine like an AK or worse and the thing just wont be stopped. I ru
  20. the recent introduction of the Ruger Scott got me to reconsider the Saiga .308 to add to my collection and the barrel length is a consideration but the ammo cost is the biggest draw back. The ruger scout seems to do well at short and long distance and i know that the saiga will do well (i know it's not going to be bolt action accuracy). I have a long barrel S 12 and it doesn't seem to be to difficult in home use. So the longer barrel .308 may be in my future. Like you pointed out historically most popular MBR have been long barrel....FN FAL. I like the idea of the weapon giving one the best
  21. can't really see bottom bolt. plus could you also do a side view? the more comparison pic angles the better. thanks for you time it will really help
