Maine law states that if hunting with a semi-automatic rifle, you are limited to 6 rounds- five in the magazine/clip, and 1 in the chamber. If you can put something in that limits how many you can put in, and it isn't easily removed, you should be fine, but you can check with a local warden/ranger.
