  1. After much research, I decided a shotgun was going to be my all around defense weapon, I was looking at many different kinds and had never heard of Saiga, when I did stumble across them I thought "wow, what an ugly gun" and moved on. When I stumbled across the Tromix website and watched the video of the semi-auto toss 8 shells in the air at the same time I said "wow, what a beautiful gun" What sold me was the performance, but you have to know about them first. Having people use them at the range, in competitions, youtube, tell your buddies, ask about parts at the gun shop (even if you k
  2. Based on research (I can get you the links if you want) #1 buck is the best anti-personnel load. It penetrates the recommended 12" in calibrated, cloth covered gelatin. It has greater cross sectional density than 00 buck, and hit probability goes way up with 16 projectiles vs. 9. The home defense challenge is that any weapon/load that will penetrate 12" to reach a vital organ for instant stop on a zombie will also penetrate interior walls. Many LEO's are now using fragmentation rounds. They are similar to "door busters" or Hatton rounds. They are essentially sintered metal that is
  3. Oh, THAT'S KCR, I have seen the vids on the web and a TV show on it too. I just really did not know what is was called. That is on my "must do" list ever since I saw it. The haze of gunpowder must last for a week after that event. It would be great if we could get a bunch of Saiga toting people down there to line up and cut loose at the same time. (It would take quite a bit to attract any attention to our favorite flavor of weapon)
  4. Congrats! I just picked mine up last week and I haven't had a chance to start breaking it in yet.
  5. Where/What is KCR? If its a bit of a drive we will definitely be grilling & chilling.
  6. Well, with this post and the one before it I guess I should be stripping down my brand new gun and see if all the parts are actually there before I shoot it!!
  7. I just picked up my Saiga this week and would like to give it (and me) a work out. I have been told about various tactical style shoots and am interested in trying it out. Does any "Team Saiga" people compete around the Columbus, Ohio area?
  8. First, welcome aboard and thanks for being a contributing member so soon after joining. That's the spirit!! The main difference between the two are the sights. The adjustable rib like you have is the only difference unless yours didn't come with a threaded barrel and BHO (bolt hold open). If you want a multi adjustable choke you need to buy the polychoke that screws onto your threads. Otherwise there are three choke tubes you can get that will screw onto them. Some prefer the adjustable vent rib sight. The 109 has a rear blade sight and a non adjustable bead up front. These are referred t
  9. I just got mine yesterday from Gilberts Guns.

  11. So, after much research I decided a shotgun was the best choice for Zombie control. Had glanced at Saiga's but did not see much of an parts aftermarket for them so was looking at Mossberg/Benneli. Then I stumbled upon Tromix site and watched the video, then I sought more and more videos and sweating and exhausted I knew I had to have a Saiga 12. With the info I have picked up here already on conversions, parts count etc. this site is a trove of info-thank you. I have officially joined and contributed. But with Tromix not taking orders, and everyone else out of stock I didn't think
