  1. Day 6.... Got a new Bulgarian Selector Stop from Global Trades and removed the extra 2 holes and extra material. Modified Selector Stop Test fit to show that the selector stop and selector are fitting. (Yes, the screws are there for position only - Rivets coming soon.) sKot
  2. Day 5. Got another 4mm bit and finished drilling the pin hole - All of the drilling is finally done. After reviewing the trigger guard picture from RDSWriter, I decided to modify the trigger guard again to be a little more accurate Next I wanted to utilize a RSA FCG Retaining plate. Problem... The selector hole is a little lower on the Saiga 12 than a regular AK (I guess to clear the bolt carrier) So it is time to modify! On the RSA Retainer Plate I had to remove material from the top above the selector hole, re-angle the bottom and remove some material around the trigger p
  3. I got the rear trunnion, locking hardware and the front latch from Oleg at rusmilitary.com. The folding buttstock and the 8 round mag came from members on akfourm.net.
  4. Day 4 Today I thing I'm seeing a little progress. Got the Folder's Catch Latch slot cut The Folder Catch latch pin hole is drilled Trigger Guard Holes drilled and Trigger hole modified for a double hook Test fit - I will need to make the hole in the trunnion a little deeper so the pin will seat properly. Bit is too dull - will have to get another 4mm Another view.
  5. Here's the pics you wanted. For the second pic (the measurements), you'll need to open the original image to view it properly. Also, you'll note that original AWB 12Cs don't have BHO or the pistol grip plate. Personally... I'd do what you are doing and keep them as they (IMHO) should have been there in the original design. You're conversion is looking great so far. Thank you - this is exactly what I need
  6. Day 3 - Finishing up the rear of the receiver Cut the Tab for the folder lock Cut the Pistol Grip Hole Nut Hole Inside view Drilled Pistol Grip Plate for spot welds. Can't wait until this is done!!!!
  7. RDSWriter, Rusmilitary.com is hopefully going to ship me the missing retaining clip this month... May I ask if you have a picture of a correct trigger guard? - I would like to get this as close as possible. Also, If you have a a 12-C would you mind making a few measurements for me? I need to know where to drill the hole for the retaining latch pin and how long the slot is for the side - See below. Thanks - sKott
  8. Day Two... Removed the rear trunnion, reshaped the back angle, drilled hole for the folder lock. Trunnion Removed All holes drilled and test fit the new AK100 stock. - Everything lines up.!!! I've been wanting to see this folded for a long time!!! - Still need to cut the square section for the locking tab. I'll get that and the Pistol Grip Hole cut on day 3.
  9. The retaining latch came from rusmilitary.com - It it not listed on their site but if you email Oleg he may have a set. The folding stock came from a member on akforum.net and I got the trunnion from another member on the same board. sKot
  10. After buying a Saiga 12 and gathering a lot of parts I figured it was about time to start the conversion. I usually keep a blog on AK builds so I thought I'd do the same here. I wanted to keep this as simple as possible and keep it as original Russian as I could. After looking around I really liked the 12-C with the AK100 style folding stock. So that's what I'm going for. As I understand the 922 compliance parts count requirements I will need to replace 5 parts. In this conversion I will replace the pistol grip (K-Var), the FCG (Dinzag Arms) and the gas piston (Tromix). This is
  11. I had the full intention co converting my Saiga 12 to a Saiga 12 C clone until I saw these on rusmilitary.com. I was wondering if anyone was using one of these set-ups on their Saiga 12. The main concerns I have is: Do these lock up solid or do they have a lot of play in them? Will the recoil of the shotgun be too much for the stock?
  12. Where can I get a Factory 2 Round Mag like the one in this picture. (Not the 5 round body with the spacer) Thanks sKott
  13. I got an AK74 plate from Tantal It is the "the real deal". I paid $14.95. I cannot wait until get this conversion started.
  14. Tony, I saw these in an old post. Do you still make these? If so what is the current price. - I did not see them listed on the Tromix Website Parts Page. Thanks - sKott
  15. I got mine at rusmilitary.com I emailed Oleg and he had 5 sets. - Only thing missing was the pin retainer. - I emailed him and he said he would have a replacement by Mid December - you guys may ask him if he is getting more sets.
  16. I will take the rest of the small parts for $15 shipped - I need the Selector Stop. PM me where to send funds
  17. 7. Saiga 12 Factory forearm - $15 ea. (1 available) Does this one have the hole for the sidefolder catch spring and keeper? If so I'll take it. sKott
  18. Problem fixed. I just took it off and put it back on 4 or 5 times. Each time I installed the flash hider it went a little further on until it seated like it is suppose to. Trust me this is a first in a long line of questions until the conversion is complete. Thanks to all who responded. Thanks - sKott
  19. I bought a stock Short flash hider from rusmilitary.com for a threaded barrel. I installed it but it seemed to bottom out with a 1/4" of threads still showing. I can still turn it with the wrench but it is awful tight so I took it off because I do not want to damage the barrel. - Am I doing something wrong??? Or do I just crank it down and the pressure holds it in place?? Thanks - sKott
  20. No action. I followed the instructions on Ironwood's sight. Matt at Ironwood actually turned the handguards for me. He does good work.
  21. Ok here are the steps I follow when sanding a new stock. 1. Using 180 grit paper lightly sand the entire piece until smooth. be very careful around corners so that you do not sand away too much material. 2. When you are happy with the results after the 180 grit sanding step up to 240 grit paper. sand the same paying special attention to the corners. When sanding with the 240 grit you will start to see dark areas (figure or grain) in the wood - this is good. sand and every now and then wipe off the excess dust with a towel. 3. After you are happy with the 240 grit results, get a we
  22. Ken, I can either do this for you or tell you how to do it. - It's not hard. I will have to know a few things before so I can give you some direction. What type of wood is it? What color do you want to end up with? What type of sealant (Tung Oil, Varnish, Polyurethane) Hi-gloss/Low gloss? Where are you Located? This is a handguard set from one of my AK's: (African Padouk with Tung Oil finish) Let me know sKott
