  1. It was just annoying the piss out of me though. I can bump fire my 5 round mags no problem. I haven't tried my 10 rounders but I was all set to bump the 20 round drum and nothing. I wonder if I just need to use heavy hotter loads.
  2. Went to my local range last night. I brought along a bunch of Gun Club cheap ammo and my drum. The gun did have a few issues cycling but overall it worked well. I tried position 1 on the gas thingybut that made it cycle really poorly. Anyway, every time I tried to bumpfire the gun, all it did was jam as soon as the gun cycled. Well more of a failure to eject than anything else. What am I doing wrong/
  3. I so want to do it and get it on video and post to youtube. It would be wild to see that but I don't know if the cleaning would make it worth it.
  4. Already pmed the info to one guy. They had 2 left at least yesterday. So there might be one left. Double Eagle Pawn (509) 276-7760 811 S Main St Deer Park, WA 99006
  5. What a cool looking gun with LOTS of neat touches and features. I also am not a huge fan of the camo but otherwise, awesome. Why did you have the side rail removed? Just wondeirng.
  6. I just got back from one of my dealers yesterday and he still has at least 1 Saiga 12 left for 489 dollars. I think he might have 2. Anyone interested? I got my last 2 so I'm set so I decided to go public with this knowledge now.
  7. I am contemplating on shooting 20 blackpowder rounds though my drum on my Saiga 12 just to see if it could be done. Is there any reason why it should not done? I know I will have to clean up the gun good once I finish but I wonder about cycling issues. I just want to do a massive 20 round mag dump as quick as possible with black powder. Can you imagine the cloud of smoke off of that one?
  8. Please do the full conversion. It is worth it.
  9. Budget conversion. Tromix Trigger Guard $45.00 Saw pistol grip $25.00 Tromx FCG $45.00 AR style sliding stock for AK $44.95 Tromix Gas Piston $45.00 And a couple of cobalt drill bits to knock out the existing trigger guard rivets. Then the rest is just bolt on. HEY look, I just noticed, everything is available at the same place, Mississippi Arms. They also happen to be one of our sponsers! Hint hint! Total cost for all the parts for a basic conversion being in compliance, $204.95 plus shipping. To do the stuff that you want to do instead you will need to use a di
  10. Kudos to mike for replacing the drum!! I am curious, so in the end, the broken drum still works fine even with the damage after the broken pieces were removed?? If so, then why destroy it? It does work but has zero resale value since it is clearly smashed with a hole though it but as a backup, why not keep it instead of destroying it? I dunno, I would just keep it and use it as a backup or something.
  11. Not sure. I just know that the one I bought had a furry lining in it, slightly padded. I think its more for insulation than interior protection since they are canteen covers.
  12. Make sure you get the 2 quart sized ones. I saw another one at my store that was only 1 quart but looked like it but the drum didn't fit.
  13. I went to my local army/navy surplus store today and bought one of these: http://www.astglobal.com/military/uscanteenstrap.jpg It is a GI 2 quart canteen cover (padded). The drum fits perfectly into it. Not too loose or too tight. Just wanted to let others know that if you are looking for a decent padded case, those work well.
  14. I was kind of wondering the same thing where to get one. I would rather have one that is free floating than flush against the barrel.

  16. Very cool looking gun. Looks like something that should be in the movies. Have fun with it!
  17. Ya I was a little surprised too. But ya i think they went for like 450 or 475. I think any one who REALLY wanted a drum for their saiga, either had drums pre ordered or wanted em bad enough to buy the WM and do the mod to their gun. There are still WM going on their for 400+ and people are bidding, it appears some people still want that, i think its because they think its all AL it might be better or something. Their loss is our gain... CJG I really think the people buying the WM drums are existing owners of the drums who had the "service" done to them and want more drums by the sa
  18. LOL Yup. Danged short. My gun store gave me an old recoil pad (the small slip on kind) and its still too big for the stock. I will put it on for when I got to the range just to see how it feels compared to withoiut the recoil pad. Something else to consider, I don't know if this is entirely true or not, but some people say that the reason why Mosins kick so much is because of their extremely short stocks, something about leverage. Same for the short Warsaw length stocks on a "stock" converted Saiga 12.
  19. I was referring to the 400-500 dollar gunbroker sales that were occuring right after the drums were being released to the public before Atlantic and Mississippi announced that they were selling drums for 279-300 dollars. People were paying 400 dollars for the drums because they didn't know that companies like the above ones were going to be selling them. That is my point, the average gun broker price is now around 260-300 dollars and that Sicktooth didn't pay too much (his 279 or 299 depending on when he bought it from Mississippi Arms). I don't look at a 20 dollar difference as a
  20. Only because at the time, Atlantic Firearms had drums in stock at 279 and Mississippi Arms were selling them for 279 (i noticed that the first day that Mississippi had them in stock, they bumped their price to 299 a day or 2 later). Now that Atlantic and Mississippi are out of stock again, the drum price on GB will probably go back up again. I don't think we will see a rash of 450 dolllar gun broker drums anymore though. Maybe one or two random odd ball auctions but most will be around the high 200 dollar/low 300 dollar range. I was wondering what was going to happen to the WM pri
  21. I would say that the big issue is that the way an unconverted gun feels is just wrong compared to a converted gun. The extra few inches between the mag release and the trigger compared to the standard ak just feels too stretched. When I was shooting my unconverted Saiga, I felt like that the front foregrip was WAY out there. An AK lends itself to be held close up and tight to the body, the unconverted models feel too long in my hands even with the pistol grip style stocks.
  22. What did you say? your comment isn't there anymore.
  23. LOL I so want to reply to his WTS on Akfiles but I don't to get banned or anything. But what a tool.
  24. Yes, you can. You will need to notch the other side of the trigger hole to mirror the side that has the notch in it. That way the other hook can move freely.
