  1. Huh??? It is a pain in the arse to get a money order. First you gotta go to your bank (gas wasting), then you gotta go to the post office, wait in line, buy money order, fill the stupid thing out, put in envelope, and mail. Then 2 weeks later when Billy Bob gets his money order, he then mails the item out. Paypal and credit cards are so much quicker and less of a pain in the ass.
  2. I guess I'm just not a collector then. I would rather have the 10 rounders than the 8 rounders. Whomever makes them is kind of irrelevant to me.
  3. Serious question, what is the huge draw to the Saiga 12 factory 8 rounders? I mean we have the AGP mags and even now the Promag 10 rounders, why bother with the 8 rounders?
  4. No, I don't think that the Tromix one covers the hole. The only reason why I went with the Tromix one instead of the Saigatech one was that Mississippi arms took credit card over the phone for buying it. I had it within like 4 days. The Saigatech one (which I actually wanted more) required me to mail a money order which I just didn't feel like doing.
  5. I bought a Tapco set from the gunstore down the street from my house. 31 dollars. I didn't feel like digging in my stash of AK parts kits to find one of my G2 trigger sets. I think all that the Tromix one is a ground down Tapco set but done much nicer than my Tapco.
  6. Mine was running perfectly before I converted. I converted it over the weekend. When I shot it yesterday, I did have a few FTE/stovepipes. (3 or 4 out of a 25 round box of cheap Walmart ammo). I did use a modified tapco hammer that I didn't polish up or anything so that might be the culprit. I'm going to take the hammer out and polish it up and make it smooth and see how the gun runs at that point.
  7. Less than 20? I thought that the website showed that they were selling these for 42.00 or so?
  8. I never understood why people hate the comfort level of the underfolder? When I built my first AK, it was a yugo underfolder and I love that rifle and find it very comfortable to shoot.
  9. Sure you could. It would entail first demilling the old trunnion, then welding up the holes, smoothing the welds out, putting in the underfolder trunnion, drilling and cutting holes for the underfolder and then you assemble and rivet. The hard part would be welding up the holes and smoothing them out and refinishing.
  10. Meh. I bought the sidemount scope adapter for 20 bux at a gun show last year and it came with the free Millet red dot. I will use it for as long as it works, if it breaks, I don't care, I didn't buy the scope adapter for the red dot, I bought it for the scope adapter so I could put something better on it one of these days.
  11. LOL I don't have any other stocks in my stock of spare parts. I'm planning on scoping out the gun show this upcoming weekend and seeing if anything cool shows up. What is wrong with the red-dot anyway? Its either that or nothing. I tried it at the indoor range today and it was kinda nifty. But yeah, it is a work in progress, the stock is only temporary as it sits.
  12. Did my cheapo conversion yesterday finally. I was thinking on doing either a slant cut romy trigger guard like Cobra's (have the parts already) but I just didn't feel like drilling holes in my first Saiga conversion. So I bought the Tomix (HEY, I know have some REAL parts on my gun!) trigger guard, gas piston, and the saw grip. I spent a few hours working on this badboy and now that its done, I'm pleased as punch!! I am planning on putting a different stock on or possibly just painting one of my spare wood ones with a flat black of some sort, maybe bedliner material to match the rest of
  13. I wish I had seen that you are selling them for the same price. Honestly, sometimes Atlantic's friendly phone manners aren't exactly friendly. I was trying to ask some questions and got cut off very quickly and hung up on. Bought it anyway though.
  14. Not really. If you decide to convert, you are going to want to leave your mag release alone. it is a Saiga 12 speciifc part unlike a generic AK style mag release. I have a virgin trigger guard without the mag release that I am going to use on my 2nd Saiga 12 one of these days. I am going to cut off the actual mag release and one of the forward pair of rivets. Then I will smooth it all out to allow the factory mag release to remain exposed and I will attach it with only 2 rivets on the forward aprt. But leave the mag release alone. The factory mag release is too wide to fit in be
  15. Oh. I see what you did there. Magpul. Got ya.
  16. I said I would pay up to 250 for a drum. They are selling them for 279. Thats 29 dollars more than my cap. I bit and bought one. I figure that I deserve to be punished for not doing the pre-buy. Oh well, I called them and they have them in stock so hopefully next week sometime I shall have my drum. By then I hope to have it converted too. I bought 1 drum at that price. I can now relax and wait for the next presales that Mike puts out and maybe buy 1 or 2 more drums. Then I shall be golden. At least I didn't buy one from an auction.
  17. When I first bought mine, I had a bunch of FTE/FTF but after about a box of 25 or so, the gun just started running smoothly. Mine is set on 2 and thats how it always has been set. It just runs so well I don't see a need for changing it.
  18. Okay guys, you need to understand how the valve works. I am using Distal's picture for clarification. See the gas valve on the left side? See how it has that slanted cut and missing metal. When the valve is rotated one way, that slant cut portion is up and then will only let a little bit of the gas though. When the valve is rotated the other way, the slant cut portion is down and allows much more gas to flow though. So justr so long you screw it down til it seats and back it out to either 1 or 2, you are golden. Its not a matter of how many times you screw it in o
  19. That is how my gun's gas setting works. It just barely makes it past 2 before stopping.
  20. Very very nice pictures!!! You have one heck of a cute gun!! Very cool.
  21. I think that there are far more Saiga 12s than Strikers or Spas or USAS12s. I figure what will happen is that if the ATF does decide to do something, they will make the drums themselves the DD devices and leave the guns alone.
  22. Antiques (and modern copies of blackpowder guns) are not subject to the NFA Otherwise, these would be illegal: Edited for clarity. I know this is an old thread but this reminds me of a question I have had. If I were to put a R&D conversion cylinder into that carbine, would that be illegal without stamping it?
  23. Might not be entirely true. There will always be someone out there that has to have XYZ no matter the cost. those are the guys paying 450 dollars for 230 dollar drums. They just have to impress people at the range no matter what. They are the ones keeping the price on gunbroker high. How many drums are for sale right now on GB? 5? I just checked, looks like 4. None of them have any bids and they are started at 399. The guys that bought them at 400+ just had to have them but there probably isn't that many out there willing to pay that much. I want a drum badly. A
  24. I just want the most for the least short of the 20 round drum. I do not want the wm 30 round drum, that's just stupid obscene. I would love a drum one of these days and might get one. But I also would love some cheap 16 round double stack mags. Not quite the allure and awesomeness of the drum but still very fun for plinking. I would enjoy having say around 2-4 agp 10 rounders, a MD drum or 2, and a few cheaper double stack 16 rounders. That would cover my bases.
