  1. Listed below I have the parts I have left over from my AK-103 conversion.

Everything listed is new & unused (including the parts removed from my IZ-132), and prices listed are either what I paid or current market, whichever is lower.

Shipping is a flat rate of $5.00 per order, for one item or all of them. I'm not looking to make a killing here, just to recoup what I can from what I have invested in the current project.

Items are only listed on the S-12 forums and are available on a first-reply/first-paid basis. IOW, if you want one of the listed items, please reply with "I will take xxx" in the forums and PM me for payment info. Your forum reply committing to buy will hold the item for 24 hours, plus an additional four (4) business days to allow for payment processing after your PM...provided it was received within the 24-hour period. Payment is accepted via PayPal or money order, but be smart on PayPay with your descriptions (e.g. discrete) as they are not the most friendly folks towards the stuff we deal with here. If your payment does not clear in the four (4) business day timeframe or if I have not heard from you via PM in the 24-hour period after your forum post to buy, that item will be made available for the next person in line requesting it.

All items will ship via USPS shipping, with tracking and delivery confirmation. If you provide me with an e-mail in your PM, I will set you up to receive shipping updates.

Questions on any items are welcome and I will do my best to answer them.

  2. Update 3/4/13 - All mags are sold!

As the topic states, I have five (5) new and unused US Palm AK30 (7.62x39. 30-round) magazines in FDE (flat dark earth) available for purchase at my cost, plus shipping.
Mags will ship for $40 each, plus flat shipping rate of $5 per order to continential US desitinations (shipping is $5 whether you order one magazine or five).

Please note that I will not ship these items to CA, MA, NJ, MD, NY, or anywhere else that your politicians suck and won't allow you to have constitutional rights. Sorry guys, but check your laws before ordering. I refuse to go toe-to-toe with these ass-hats.

Payments accepted are check, MO, or PayPal + 4% (unless sent as gift with fees covered)
Item(s) will ship within 24-hours of payment clearing

OK, I know the mag prices suck, so here's the good news
I hate the current price of mags and ammo as much as the rest of the folks here, so as a consolation, I will include two extra bonus items to the first two (2) individuals who post an "I'll take one. PM Sent" post and commit to purchase. The extras bonus items will be an RAA branded Saiga coolie and set of ear plugs...as shown below. The first person to purchase has options on colors (jungle or RealTree camo & gold or blue ear plug kit). On the chance someone takes all five mags, I will send both sets of coolies and ear plugs to that person.

  3. +1 to dubya's advice.

While you "can" file each one of your high cap AK magazines, the general practice is to file the mag catch on the rifle. And then, just to the point that the variety of standard AK mags you have on hand will lock in. For clarity of the topic here, this is done so the magazines will lock in, not to correct feeding issues.

Your feeding issues are probably related to one of two things; (1) the bullet guide not being installed correctly, or (2) a crappy magazine. Until proven otherwise, I would suspect #2. Get ahold of some other mags known to be reliable (Circle 10, US Palm, Magpul, etc) and give them a run.

Here's a pic of a mag catch being filed

  4. Honestly, it's personal preference. I use Hogue and Pachmayr across my collection of various firearms, but that mileage varies between individuals. Hell, I even found one case where an inverted Hogue handgun grip made the best fit for a pistol grip on one of my rifles.

Try them all (preferably under a bit of stress), think outside the box, and see what fits your style the best.

  5. Easy upgrade kit for Saiga / AK

The main disadvantage of ergonomics Kalashnikov called three aspects:

    - short butt

    - too "thin" pistol grip

    - and complete lack of Picatinny rails

    To remove these shortcomings:

standart buttplate changed to the new, more longer

standart pistol grip changed to the new, more convenient

standart handguard changed to the new, with Picatinny rails

For this we need : rubber buffer "Izhmash" (it does not interfere with the folding butt) of Saiga 030, pistol grip "STK" (with a set of tools instead compartment in the butt) & tactical handguard "Izhmash" with 2 Picatinny rails, which, thanks to its shape can be easy to hold, even with bare hands.

To install all these additional parts, we need 10 minutes of time and a screwdriver.

The weight and center of gravity weapons almost not change ...

Nice! I've seen the rubber buttstock pads for increasing the LOP on Warsaw stocks (not my preferred method, but I have used it before), however, that's the first time I've seen that tactical handguard from Izhmash. Now that's something I'd LOVE to add to my upcoming AK-103 clone project if I could (or perhaps can) locate one on this side of the pond.

Thanks for sharing...you're giving me some awesome ideas

  6. Yep, Vlad's are the AK74 sights. Identical to the AK-100 series sights, except for the full-tick marks. That's my backup plan, but I wanted to check around first.

BTW, Vlad got back with me. He only has the sight leafs listed on the website. My guess is that it's going to be one of those oddities that pops up from time to time.

  7. Not in Indiana, but if you want someone relatively close, I would send you towards Tom Cole at Cadiz Gun Works (Cadiz, Ohio). He's listed in the business section here, which includes info on his conversion packages.

I have had the opportunity to see and shoot a good number of guns he has converted, including some of his prototypes. Very impressive work. Plus he handled the warranty work for Russian American Armory for a number of years, so he definitely knows his way around a Saiga. Bottom line, if he had room on his schedule and I needed one done, I wouldn't have any hesitation about sending him one of mine for conversion.

There are plenty of others who are capable of doing a top notch job for you, but he's the closest to you that I'm familiar with.

  8. Very interesting pictures and information.

Despite all the complex and restrictive gun laws in Russia, you have still managed to come up with some very cool looking configurations. And I love the law where changing the stock is neither allowed nor prohibited. That sounds like some of our crazy laws...like in my area you are allowed to buy and sell fireworks, but it is illegal to use them.

Thanks for sharing, and please feel free to keep them coming!
