  2. Now is this PSL, 7.62 x 39, or 7.62 x 54r ?

    54R  light ball

He makes great stuff, but he's such an ass on the phone. The ordering process is unnecessarily complicated, and he explained that as, "well, the customer has to do some of the work, that's not my job." That turned me off from a ~$200 order a while back.

Can't put in an order over the phone, and the exact combination of items I wanted wasn't available as a set - I was supposed to print out a damn order form (I don't own a printer), find the item numbers for the items I wanted, and mail the form in. Instead, I saved $150+ and put surplus wood on the rifle.

Sorry to hear that, in my experience Matt is the nieces guy in the business

  3. Just got a sneak peek on IWD Dragunov style PSL. Matt did it again I don’t know when he has the time to come up with all this great stuff, , Matt  is a proud dad of  new baby daughter , just moved to a new  and improved shop and yet he came up with the amazing quality PSL/SVD stock set , don’t know when it will be in production or the price, shot him email or check his website , I am personally on the list for one set was waiting for years to get IWD made PSL/SVD furniture . Thanks IWD

  5. I do envy you right now. I actually have an order in with Rhineland for a similar set in Tiger Maple. I actually like the cut of the front HG and the wood cheek riser better on the IWD set. I just wanted something different than laminated birch or the other woods they offered, but after seeing your setup I am drooling! smile.png I am still not sure about Rhineland. I have seen several complaints. They stated that the set would ship mid Sept, and I knew that going into the order, but they sure didn't waste anytime charging my check card. I may cancel it and place an order with IWD. I appreciate you posting the pics.

IWD has absolutely best copy of original SVD butt stock in US, I wont say anything about Rhineland, just its different smile.png

  6. More advantages for the Vepr - thicker receiver, fewer problems cycling heavy loads. I know PSLs have issues with rapid overheating - wonder if the Vepr rifles have the same problem.

Either rifle, set up to accept Lahti 20-round mags, would be splendiferous.

Receiver is same 1.6mm ,barrel is thicker , but most important is that gas pressure in Veper is lower than in PSL so Vepr is GTG with HB ammo

Have them both, love them both, Vepr is better rifle and made in Russia smile.png

  7. I and many others just spot heat treat our receivers with a torch and a quench bucket. Haven't had any wear problems yet and some manufacturers have made post sample machine guns on spot heat treated receivers without any problems as well. Some of these have had many thousands of rounds put threough them full auto. Mag dumps that make the handguards smoke and burn and they still work!

Full heat treating does make a tougher receiver, but I doubt if you could wear one enough to tell the difference in semi auto

What about AKbuilder flat? Iam using M85  flat with AK47 rails for my UF RPK

I have. However my OCD won't let me unless I figure out how to fully heat treat it. Bending and welding is the easy part if I had a way to fully heat treat.

Also have two m72 kits and 3 original barrels to choose from.

Eta: as of this evening I have a headspaced and partially populated barrel. I'm just waiting on a new sling mount before I continue. The original was pretty bent up.
