  1. Tap the retainer pins out. Soak it with PB Blaster or the like overnight. Use a large brass hammer (softer, might mark the metal, but will give first and not destroy your parts. )I turned my barrel (had to pull it to fit my lathe), and set the sight back. Threaded 14x1LH, plenty of metal to do this. Also turned bbl down from the gas port (same OD) back, and dremeled out a Romy lower handguard retainer, so I could put on a real handguard.Plus the obvoius other mdos, can't help it...
  2. Reloadable isn't the question-shootable is. It's Indian. Stuff sucks. Years back, had some in an H&K. The brass actually seemed to be made of rolled layers, it would delaminate (for lack of better terms) when fired. Huge amount of misfires. I recently shot some though one of my FN's (inch pattern) and probably 25% failed to light. Nice hard hits on the primer. Other surplus we took all ran 100% My Saiga has a very tight chamber, seems to take only nicely trimmed brass (if I am reloading) or commercial, Ie: fed american eagle, etc. Indian won't even lock up. just my 2 cents worth...
  3. I wasn't sure of the plastic concept, although I do have bulgarian plastic for my 5.56 saiga. However, in past experience with thermolds, I didn't have them hold up in the field. I bit the bullet,so to speak, and took time to convert it to take m-14 mags.
  4. In your description, did you skip a step or do you not feel that drilling a new rear pin groove in the barrel is necessary? He hasn't done his... To do it 14x1 LH threading you need to turn the barrel down. Otherwise if you want to thread the barrel without turning, you can do 5/8-24 or M17x1 depending on the diameter under the front sight block. Then you need to bore the front sight block so it can sit rearward about 0.600", then reinstall and drill and new rear pin hole. Then just find an attachment with the proper threading. (Or someone to rethread and existing one)
