  1. Some guns are more forgiving than others in this regard. On my hunting rifle I welded up the front section on a bunch of the low cap AK mags and filed down the locking tab and they work great. Hardest part was in cleaning up the welds with a file and dremel-took couple minutes apiece. I also cut down the followers on some Chinese 5 rounders and made them into very good 8 rounders.....I have had good luck in finding the shorty AK mags at gunshows for a couple-$5 apiece and have had fun in converting them for my rifle. At last count I think I had 10 mags- They run very well.
  2. I have killed close to 20 hogs with a 16" Saiga in x39. Most of my shots are fairly close- under 100 yards. I am shooting out of a blind or while using a spotlight- you can only see so far even with a good light. For that reason, my x39 has been an excellent rifle delivering 1 shot stops on hogs up to 300 pounds. My rifle has a CDNN scope mount on it, the one with the light rail built in- I have a Surefire mounted there. I am currently using a cheapo Tasco 4x on it, so far, so good. It was all I had in "spare" scopes when I got the gun and I haven't had a reason to change it out yet.
  3. I did nearly the exact same thing with one. I cut down the buttstock though and tapped the forward sling swivel to take an American stud and put a real sling on it. It is a hell of alot better rifle for behind the seat than a Mini 14 or SKS in my opinion and the price is right.
  4. I cut my stock down by about 1.5" as it was too long-that made is kick hard as it did not properly fit me. I filled part of it with steel wool and then the rest with bondo, added a Pachmayer recoil pad. Much better handling and less felt recoil. Took me about an hour of "steady work" to do.
  5. And y'all fuckas stop pickin at Azriel befo he come down on yo ass haad. Word! 022.gif I offer Haiku to appease the offended Mall Ninja Warrior, lest he put on his special boots- When I hear the call: "there's touble at the food court," I'm locked and loaded. Bored suburban kids or midget terrorists? It can be hard to tell. What keeps The Gap safe? My unblinking vigilance. No need to thank me. Step away from the Orange Julius counter! Don't force me to shoot! Scaling up the walls lets me keep a watch on the Ladies' dressing rooms. Or: Read SOF ad S
  6. I went on a Pheasant hunt a couple of weeks ago with my 19" gun and Polychoke. Set it for modified, was running some 2 3/4" #5's. Ran like a top, shot my three birds no problems. Did get a few "looks" though but most thought it was pretty cool. Hardest thing was mounting the gun and knocking the safety off quickly but I got used to it. Lots of fun.
  7. Did someone say training? I have almost 1,000 hours of some of the best weapons and defensive skills training that money can buy....and I paid for it out of my own pocket not on Unca Sugars dime! I've trained with Louis Awerbuck, John Farnham, Col. Jeff Cooper, Clint Smith, Gabe Suarez, Jack Furr, Tiger McKee and Pat Rogers just to name a few of the more notables. You might look up a place called Rifles Only here in Texas if you want to learn a little more about sniping....I have been lucky enough to train with Jason a couple of times now. Oh, and as far as putting my money where my mouth
  8. Azrial, you cannot seriously believe that the way in which this country is currently governed is even close to what the Founders intended? Again, read some history- it is patently clear to anyone with a 4th grade education that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton would not recognize what this country has become. I cannot even begin to explain the many ways in which the Constitution has been raped and pillaged over the past two centuries. Just please start with my example above about the expansion of the voting franchise. It is damn clear that what I said is exactly
  9. It is a given that you must be prepared to die-the ballistic curve runs both ways! However.....consider that the US military is a shell of what it once was. From WWII through the 90's it was Pentagon policy that the US military would be able to fight a 2.5 front war- Meaning an Atlantic and Pacific war- just like WWII AND a 1/2 war meaning some kind of minor action in someplace like South America etc..... At present our military can BARELY keep the lid on what would have been classified as a 1/2 war! Techo crap is great but it take BOOTS ON THE GROUND to HOLD GROUND! Quite frankly, we don
  10. Research Simo Hayha-White Death, if you want to know something about guerilla sniping and the equipment that he used. He has a kill total that absolutely DWARFS any known U.S. sniper, period. You might also look at Sepp Allerbergers biograpy- Sniper on the Eastern Front. It's the story of Germanys' second most highly decorated sniper on their most vicious battlefront. His kill total is in the hundreds...... Look at the equipment that he used and the distances and tactics etc.... Then apply that new information to what "sniper" truly means.
  11. Glad to have some company on "the list"! Lol.....truly, though, I believe that the center of this country can not forever hold up countless "voters" of benefits to themselves who produce nothing or certainly not as much as they believe themselves entitled to. The end result is a general societal breakdown and either anarchy or some form of totalitarianism- either Fascism that "saves us" from the mobs or "Socialism" that seeks to placate the mobs and feeds on them. This is the choice that the Germans were faced with in the late 1920's....we all know which path they chose and where it u
  12. The problem with the political process is that our Constitution and the "right to vote" have been degraded to the point that my vote (taxpayer, loyal husband, employer, reasonably well educated -Doctorate on the wall, Scout Leader, Deacon at Church, Father of two etc....) is exactly the same as the 5th grade educated, homeless, crack whore that works the local truck stop. That is why the political process will fail. There was a reason that certain people were excluded from the voting franchise by the Founders- I hate to say it but think of it what you will- the Founders saw the average vo
  13. I like my Saiga shotguns plenty but they aren't going to replace the Remington 870 anytime soon.
