  1. Thanks for the reply, Lakedweller; I did do a search for the Buisness Members link, but all I located was the forums in the "For Sale" section. Was that what you were refering too, or did I miss the boat? I'm looking to make mine into a SBS, with all the usual mods, so I think I'm in a bit of a bind when it comes to gunsmiths. I'm hoping someone here has had good luck with other companies who rebuild these. I'm a bit concerned about the wait for Tromix, but equally concerned that anything else will be cut-rate. Anyone have any other companies customs, and can comment? Th
  2. Greeting, ya'll! I am in search of a company to do a conversion for me on my IZ-109 while I'm playing in the sandbox. I was planning on using Tromix, but noted that they aren't taking any orders until Jan of '11. So, are there other reputable companies doing collapsible stocks, pistol grips, accuracy/reliability packages, barrel shortening and sight setups? Please let me know who is out there that can be trusted. Thanks, everyone! Fred
  3. Scoutjoe, with that in mind, I assume that these will not be the IZ-109 I desire then, if they have been sitting a bit? Or did EAA have the '-109 models as well? I haven't heard back from my friend yet.
  4. Look at Atlantic Firearms on gunbroker. Last I looked, they still had a couple on gunbroker for sale. If you find one on Gunbroker, buy it and don't hesitate. The IZ109 that I got from them yesterday is perfect and doesn't have the too short of a barrel. Well, I called my dealer, and they happen to be stocking these now! She's gonna get a few in and make sure they match the description of what I need. How about that? Now, Bobotech and BlackBear, the ones you got from Atlantic (just in case my dealer stocks the wrong one); did they come with a threaded barrel for a muzzle
  5. Alrighty, then, sounds like you guys know your stuff. I guess I did come to the right place! Well, I thank you for all the insight. I will order from an alternate location, and just suck it up (price) to make sure I get what I would really want. Thanks again for your help, and I look forward to joining the club...as soon as those boats hit the docks! Fred
  6. Thank you for your reply guys, and the welcome. Now, as to the comment that it is too short; is that a restriction for importation, or too short in general? In other words, if I purchased this item, and then removed the muzzle device, would the gun then be illegal? Or, could I re-install a muzzle device of my choice (not soldered on) and be back in buisness? I seem to remember an 18 inch rule. Next question is the bolt hold-open. Is this an easy upgrade, like modifying the selector lever on an AK to hold the charging handle in place, or is it more complex than that? Should I just be buyin
  7. Hello, all, from Kuwait! My name is Fred, and I am very interested in being a new owner of a Saiga-12, so it appears I have come to the right place. I'll start with my question, so as not to bore everyone who doesn't want to read the rest. I am looking to go on a back-order list at thegunsource.com for a '-12, seen here: http://www.thegunsource.com/store/item.aspx?PID=55103 My question is this; is this one the IZ-109 unit that everyone seems to covet? If so, what is with the muzzle device being silver soldered on? I assume that it can be removed, but what damage will have been
