  1. We all know there is a feeding problem with the 10rd SF magazine. but could we get a list together of what isn't working reliably in these mags so we can avoid buying it for the purpose of using it in the ten rd mag until we get the feed issues resolved. I have personally destroyed several rounds of ammo trying to get them to feed. So far from personal experience or from this forum; what doesn't work Golden Bear / Silver bear Estate Federal (personal experience) Any others? I'm about ready to start tinkering with my own mag.
  2. Wow, that one must have been feeding on cats, dogs and the neighborhood children. I've never come across a snake that big in the wild
  3. Glad to hear your dog pulled through it alright. What did the vet do for him? Anti-venom for a dog? Actually my first thought when my wife called for me, was that it was probably a false alarm. When she said "huge snake", I was thinking S.black racer or kingsnake. We're visited quite often by them, and I love having them around the house. The kingsnake I have for a pet now will be turned loose out here next spring. I rescued him in our warehouse where I work. My co-workers were about to kill it when I came up and picked it up. They all thought I was crazy, but I knew what it was right
  4. No offense taken Cobra, I know alot of people that couldn't identify a snake properly even with a field guide in one hand, and the snake in the other. The only problem I have with them being in my backyard is my dogs. They love to play with a snake when they find one. Just a couple months ago I had to rescue a garter snake that my lab was playing catch with. I just don't believe that he would treat a moccasin any differently, until it was too late. And as much as I hate to say it, I do like my dogs alot more than any ol' snake. I wouldn't want to find any copperheads in my house either.
  5. Sorry no pic. After killing it he was tossed into the lake; turtles will eat good tonight. Definately a moccasin. I've been an amatuer herpetologist since I was a teen. We have several kinds of water snakes around here; yellow belly, banded, broad-banded, diamond back (easily mis-identified as a mocc), along with kingsnakes, corn snakes and many others including copperheads (although I have not seen one here yet). The lake behind my house is crawling with all of them. I don't, and won't kill any non-venomous snakes. In fact if it were just swimming by, I would have let it pass. Unfortunate
  6. Just scored my first clean kill with the Saiga.410. Wife was walking in the backyard and saw a "huge snake". Came to the patio door yelling for me to grab my gun and come outside to get it. Grabbed the Saiga and found the bastard trying to make a run...er,crawl for it. Took it's head off. 3-31/2 ft water moccassin. Some cold weather we're having; the snakes are still active.
  7. I'd have to with a +1 on the mutts too. They seem to have the best personalities and health. I also like the suggestion of a rescue animal. One of mine is an abused resuce and she is one of the best family dogs I have had, affectionate, protective, and intellegent. Haley was the rescued dog, part Sheltie, and we beleive Bordercollie. She has been great since getting over her fear of people (took about three months with us). Bill is a 8 year old Black Lab/ Belguim Sheperd mix. Looks more Lab that anything else and is another very affectionate, but protective dog. If you want a full bred
  8. Thanks again for the help guys. Got everything in this week. The choke set from rusmilitary came in about two weeks. Ordered on the 15th, shipped on the 16th, and arrived on the 31st of October. Another thumbs-up for Oleg, from this new Saiga shooter.
  9. Thanks, gents, for all of the help. Just ordered and got my confirmations for 2 1/2" mags from AOA, and the choke set from oleg. . Hopefully they'll come in time so I can use them for this falls squirrel season. Also already received my spare 3" mags from Stanleys Proshop.
  10. Yes, listed; but not available. Also no available 2 1/2" mags, did order another 3" mag though. Thanks
  11. Definately not new to shooting, firearm forums, and searching for what I need...BUT I just picked up my first Saiga, and have a couple questions. First, where can I find the chokes for my S410? I have run search after search all day and looked at dozens of websites but can't find them for some reason. Looking for at least a full choke to get the pattern where I want it. Second, I've fired a few 3" shotshells from the gun with no problem. Will I have to adjust the gas system before I fire any 2 1/2 slugs, and is it possible to run both (staggered) from the same magazine.
