  1. I went with the modified 223 European metal mags from Surefire rather than the surefire plastic ones - also I did break down and get one promag plastic 223 mag...I know, I know I just couldn't resist the price though.
  2. Yeah we are, but looking at your avatar makes me feel so much better!
  3. There is still the odd one on Gunbroker.com from time to time. I don't know if this is a gunshop sale or private citizen. I have FBMG mags and love them - I need more but couldn't find them on their new web page. Glad to hear they're still making a fine product.

    Disappointed

You could just get an Ultimak gas tube and an inexpensive red dot site. I know it doesn't fix the site problem, but in a way it makes the problem unimportant. I'm just saying...
  5. I used black B-B-Q grill spray paint. Works and looks fine.

    Stupid Question

Thanks, I kinda wondered as my Saiga 308 has 308 AND 7.62x51 while the 223 only has 223. I'll give it a shot.
  7. Alright, I'll get on the short bus today - I searched the forum without any results so here goes... The Saiga 223 is just that, 223 - there's been a millions arguments on other boards about 223 and 5.56 and which are compatible; my AR15 says 5.56 and I was told it can shoot 223 also - matter o fact I do it all the time - question is, will the Saiga 223 also shoot 5.56 w/o any problems? Thanks
  8. Anything and everything! THe AR is kinda prissy and finiky so it gets the new production cheap Remington green and white box Wally world ammo. The reloads from that brass go to the Saiga. Funny how the AR said that using all this different kind of ammo including reloads will void the warrenty, but the Saiga never said that!

    Mag Report

Yep. When I first came to the forum I heard a lot of less than flattering stuff about FBMG but I have a couple of their mags and they work great - my only regret is I don't have more of them.
  10. Anyone who has done much hunting would see the difference between the .30 cal and the .22. Sure, with soft nose hunting ammo a .223 expands and does some damage, but with FMJ - I'd rather have my enemies hit with a 308 anyday. No contest on the knockdown power. BTW I also have an AR15 and Saiga 223 and love them - but if I know I was going to battle to engage an enemy at unknown distances - I'd grab the Saiga 308 rather than the .223 saiga. After all, how do you really know if the SHTF and you have a coupe of minutes to get your poop in a group, grab a rifle and head out the door, what t
  11. I know it sound like a bubba job, but I just cut off the forend handguard off midway about the length of a traditional AK and secured it on the barrel/gastube. Look OK and functions fine. I'd post pics but it says the images are too big????
  12. Thanks ArcFault, that cleared it up. Glad they are still going strong - I have afew of their 308 mags and love them - love to have several more one day so I'm glad they're still in business.
  13. Yeah, if you could just tell the general area that you live in, there are a bunch of guys here that could lend a hand...If you're anywhere near Montana, sound off and I'll help.
  14. Well let's see some pics of the converted Saiga Christina...and welcome to the site.
  15. Nice rifle tyrvidar...cute kids too!
