    .380 Auto

I know this is the Saiga .308 page, but I find that you guys are pretty knowledgable about firearms in general. My S&W 9mm is too big for my wife to handle. I wanted to get her a .380 auto. The Walther PPK's are too expensive and the Bersa Thunder .380 (a PPK clone) is illegal here in Massachusetts. Anybody have any other recommendations for an inexpensive, yet reliable .380 auto?? Thanks.
  3. I don't think you have to do an mods because you're trading one foreign part for the same foreirn part. But don't take my word for it. This is just my opinion.
  4. I'd love to buy a pair, but big brother says I'm not allowed. I HATE MASSACHUSETTS!

    Gun Debate

You guys are preaching to the choir.

    Gun Debate

Outlawed based on the fact that guns cause death and that the US leaks arms into the world through smuggling and the black market - so she says. And, yes, any gun can shoot more than 100 meters. Thats the whole point. People who don't know anything about guns might think that this restriction sounds "reasonable", but gun owners know its bull. Other than that, I though Wayne LaPierre did a great job. He got a lot of applause and more support than I though he would from pro-gun Europeans.

    Gun Debate

Did anybody watch "The Gun Debate" on Pay Per View? It almost made me sick to watch because of the anti-gun speaker's thoughts on guns. She said that any and all firearms that are either semi-automatics, can hold more than one of ammo, or can shoot distances greater than 100 meteres should be outlawed and that the US should submit to the will of the global community. Where does she get off?
  8. Rook, what kind of PG did you get and where did you get it and the nut? I just wanted to know because I have seen different PG nuts and wasn't sure which one you guys were using. The one pictured on K-VAR seems to be more rectangular with different levels rather than being just one, square nut Glitch308, how do you go about attaching a SAW styple PG if it has the trap door? If its got the trap door, do you just use a regular bolt or screw instead of the long one? Where did you get your PG nut, because I don't see it on Tapco?

    ATF

Yeah, but I could always just say I relied on their advice.

    ATF

I wanted to MAKE SURE the conversions were totally legal before I made any changes. I know we can do the part count, but what happends if the ATF doesn't see it the way we do? I contacted my local ATF office and got the go ahead with the buttstock, FCG, and pistol grip. It's perfectly legal, under federal law.
  11. Just out of curiousity, why don't you guys just wait 'til Saiga imports the hi-caps for the .308. EAA already said they're on order with Russia.

I'm also from MA (Chicopee) - what part are you from? I like the looks of the wood stock. I don't think it looks cheap at all. Its not a $1,000 Mossberg, but for a few hundred bucks, you can't beat the level of quality on the wood stock.

    new to .308

Took a 22" bbl .308 bear hunting a few weeks ago. Its not a light rifle, but I don't find it to be uncomfortably heavy. I think its pretty accuate. I regularly shoot 2"-3" groupings with mine at 100 yards with a POSP 6x42 scope. I wouldn't take it to a shooting competition, but you shouldn't be shooting at animals from 100 yards away either. It's accuarte enough for short to medium range hunting plus the .308 caliber is versatile enough for bear, dear, etc.
  14. Thanks. I appreciate it.
  15. Would somebody please just settle this question that I have been asking? Could you please tell me which ones of these that the Saiga .308 has and how you arrive at the 5 US parts number? (1) Frames, receivers, receiver castings, forgings or stampings (2) Barrels (3) Barrel extensions (4) Mounting blocks (trunions) (5) Muzzle attachments (6) Bolts (7) Bolt carriers (8) Operating rods (9) Gas pistons (10) Trigger housings (11) Triggers (12) Hammers (13) Sears (14) Disconnectors (15) Buttstocks (16) Pistol grips (17) Forearm handguards (18) Magazine bodies (19) Followers (
