  1. attempted to get one of these from rusmilitary, about 8 months ago, paid and everything. no delivery and no response to emails. if anybody has one they are willing to part with, i can do paypal. thanks
  2. I might sound like a total noob with this question, but how exactly does one remove (albeit in this case, temporarily) the magwell? Does it require a special spanner wrench or something, or a trick I don't know about? If anybody is willing to post some pictures or a detailed description, that'd be appreciated. Needing to get around it somehow, so I can drill the hole in the bottom for a side-folder latch.
  3. If it can't eat the cheap stuff, then it's likely fixable to reach that goal. A few quick searches in these forums and you can find bolt polishing to streamline the cycling and gas port modifications to give it more umph. But then you run the risk of it perhaps damaging the rear trunion when you run the really beefy loads.
  4. Would it be against this forum's policies for somebody to paste information from the AKforum? It would be extremely helpful to know what's going on, and to get status updates... however, their website isn't easy to access (it denies all registrations from users with "free" e-mail accounts, on top of what seems to be a wait for approval from administrators for access) which somewhat limits the ability to stay informed.
  5. Sweet! what does that price translate to? roughly 125 dollars... if i did the conversion correctly.
  6. I'll be in for 4 of the Magwell version 8 rounders. they can be found on this page: http://www.dmazay.ru/index.php?productID=5066 ... if that counts towards the group buy.
  7. eye relief looks very misleading when it is not shouldered. i'll admit, the scope does look a lot further back than it should be. however, when you have it shouldered it looks as though you have enough room to clear. just keep the beast shouldered tight the criticism about balance still stands... you have presented a balanced firearm yes... but you still haven't chopped off barrel length, and added a loaded magazine. though for the sake of having saved OAL with having a bullpup design, you should consider keeping your barrel longer. for the sake of slugs at least.
  8. just more constructive criticism... don't take any of it the wrong way. just my two cents. if you were thinking about using the optics rail as a carry handle, take in consideration the balance of the shotgun. most of the weight is to the rear of the shotgun, where the receiver / magazine (where a loaded mag will weigh quite a bit). a lot of firearms that have the carry handle are balanced pretty well. in this case, it might even be uncomfortable to carry it by the handle.
  9. i've shot an SL8 with the optic rail on it, identical to that one. it was difficult enough to use with the rifle, not sure why, maybe because it's tiny. just saying... because it does has the "cool" factor. however, as far as practicality for a shotgun goes, not sure what it has. maybe if you leave your barrel at 22" or thread it and use a paradox choke with some slugs. even then, iron sights or a red dot sight would work just as good.
  10. if you want a short AK, why not just go the mile? http://www.gunsnet.net/forums/showthread.php?t=347386 build one of these
