  1. Check out this video. This guy's about as proficent with an ak as they get. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TegQiSObPZo
  2. I was origionally gonna go with the Krebs on one of my Saigas, but went with the Texas Dogleg rail system instead. I got the rear peep ghost ring for a few bucks more. Well worth the money. I have a Trijicon front sight post. Was meant to be together. I really like being able to unlock and lift up the entire rail to get at the guts. I'm gonna do another conversion soon, and will go with the same set up.
  3. What's with the panhead screws on the magazine?
  4. Muzzle brakes do next to nothing on the Saiga shotguns There just isn't enough pressure/gas at the muzzle. They are basically to look cool is all. Maybe the spikes come in handy if you're breaching doors, and a couple extra ounces at the muzzle might do a little. Most of the manufacturers have even stated this as well. The only real recoil reduction on the shotguns is usually the mid barrel stuff. If a get into a close quarters jam, I could do some serious facelift surgery with that baby. (lol!)
  5. I had a J-Tac on a Romy, and there was damn near no muzzle climb or recoil on the bastard. My irons stayed right on the orange spray painted paper plate I had set up at 100 meters. The east German ak-74 zigzag brake I have on another Saiga is a close 2nd. I'm gonna do another conversion soon on my Saiga-12 and gonna foot a Tromix shark brake on her. From all the research I've done, they seem to be the "cream of the crop" as far as controlling muzzle climb and recoil.
  6. I was under the impresson that you had to have the class III stamp for one of them. Do you? Or can anyone who can legally buy a gun get one? I was in a situation some time ago, where I cut the FSB off of a 16" Saiga I had, and pressed on a brand new one. It shortened the barrel 1/4" of being legal.(which I later found in this story) A few years later, I converted it, and removed the FSB again, and took it to a local gunsmith to have it pressed back on ( for perfect center over the barrel alignment). The guy I was talking to began to look it over, and pulled out a tape measure and measured the

  8. The Vortex comes with its own built in mount. I'm looking for replys from folks who know what the Vortex is.
  9. Not looking to co-witness on this rifle. I want to be able to see my FSP through my peepsight, and use my Vortex by itself. All the optics I have on my rifles, I have the mind set that ANY optic can fail, so it is impairative that I get the irons "balls".
  10. What a light kick to my jewels. I just installed my TWS dog leg rail with rear peep sight, and the mount for my Vortex Strikefire is too tall, so I can't see the front sight post. Now I gotta put my FM red/green illuminated recticle 3x9-42mm scope on it. I was planning on installing a Trijicon front sight post on her, with my Vortex, but hell, I guess I'll be settin' this up on my other x-39mm convert. Anyone else get the TWS dog leg rail and have a Vortex come up with this scenario? BTW, this rail with the rear peep is awesome! Can't wait to throw some rounds down range with the irons.
  11. Amen, brother. I just ordered mine from Peach State Guns last week.
  12. I converted two x-39s a while back, and did the single hook Tapco on one, and a double hook on the other, and played with both of them the same time, and wondered which one had a smoother pull. There was a slight noticeable difference between the two. The one that had the double-hook did seem slightly crisper than the single hook. They both have the same Dinzag muzzle brake on both rifles. I repeatly fired one after another to make sure it wasn't a mind-fuck, and the double hook did seem a c**t hair smoother in trigger pull.
  13. Why don't you fellas who have such a problem with the weight of the UTG try lifting weights, if it's too heavy for ya's?
  14. Whadda ya guys talkin' about? I've been using that bag for oven baking my turkeys on Christmas and Thanksgiving for over 20 years now! In fact, I have a really good recipe that I have concocted that I'll share with ya'll. For this special turkey recipe you will need: * 1 15-20lb turkey * 2 cups of Cosmoline * 1 large bottle of CLP * 2 boxes of 1000 count Federal primers (may be substituted for Winchester primers, or at half yield for large magnum primers). Soak in CLP overnight. * 1-3/4 cups of VihtaVouri N-320 smokless powder * 2 tbsp of minced onion Prop up t
  15. Did you throughly clean it before you shot it? Sometimes the cosmoline (corrosive resistant grease) can cause a new rifle to jam. ( my sks did until I cleaned the cosmoline off)The brand new Saigas I had, along with an sks I had were packed in cosmoline. I had to take them all apart, and scrub them with scalding hot water, dishsoap, and a scrub brush. Lube them up with some CLP afterwards, leave it on overnight, wipe it off in the morning, and see if this fixes your problem, if you didn't remove the cosmoline prior to shooting it. Good luck.
  16. It's "function", not "fuction".
  17. Ya'll can cry and whine all yous want, but some sucker will pay the owners price for this "Frankensaiga".
  18. I would think a barrel de-resonator on a 20" would greatly improve accuracy against barrel flex, but since the ones I've seen have all been on hunting rifles, I think the thing would melt if not enough cooling time was allowed, like on heavier barreled bolt rifles. Has anyone used one of these on a Saiga?
  19. If past posted threads get closed, I hope like hell we can still get axcess to them. I go back to threads that were posted, even ones posted a few years ago, for the wealth of info on a lot of them. It's like the liberal newspapers: Just don't read the shit you don't want to read! Of course you'd have access to them. I'm not asking for deletion, just the locking of posts with X months inactivity. Nobody'd be able to bump years old threads to the top, where the majority of the previous posters aren't even around any more, and/or the topic is so out of date, it's ridiculous.

  21. So long as you don't store your ammo in an open fire/furnace, I wouldn't worry about rounds randomly cooking off. I store mine in a secure closet, (the ones I can't fit into the gunsafe). Are the ones that don't fit in your safe look like this? http://cartridgecollectors.org/introtoarty...introtoarty.htm
  22. If storing ammo in a sealed container where there is periods of extreme daily temperature differences, for example; mid-spring in northern or higher mountain elevations where the temperature in the early morning is say, around freezing, and the mid-day temperature gets up to the hi 60's, low 70's, condensation can form in storage containers, especially metal containers. Same thing if, like here in the desert, sometimes it'll be 100 degrees at night (when my air conditioning is turned off in my cargo trailer where I keep my ammo), but I turn on the ac mid-morning and get the temperature down to
  23. Any of you guys ever use this? http://www.gunbutter.com/
  24. I went through the exact same bullshit with those assholes. I was locked in at $208.00 per 1000 x-4 cases(Wolf) with free shipping back last December, and played the "continual backorder" game, only to find out I was one day late after their "must respond to keep item on backorder" request. After some heated venting on my part, the gal on the other end asked "What do you want me to do?". I told her I wanted any other form of 7.62x39mm ammo in its place, for the same price. She put me on hold, then told me she was "advised" that she couldn't do it. I told her it was just one day past the deadli
  25. I hope this is a sign of things to come. Prices have nowhere to go but down now that people realize their guns aren't going to be confiscated. You're joking, right?
