  1. The raised portion is there for a reason. I would not recommend removal. The raised part of the right trigger leg is the contact point for the safety. Filing it down may cause your safety not to work and require that you find a new safety with a longer trigger contact leg. Check the interface between your current trigger and the safety carefully at different positions. The raised part should not intefere with the spring which should ride on the level part just in front of the raised portion. The raised portion actually helps keep the spring from moving backwards along the arm.

  3. Received this new for my Saiga 12 and with only minor fitting started running rounds through it. Using both full power 2.75" buckshot and high brass #6 loads, I had sporadic misfeeds (round stuck pointed at chamber but rear not rising enough to get into chamber) at rounds 5, 6, or 7 through the mag (middle of capacity). I thought there might be a piece of flashing or some other manufacturing anomaly that was binding the interior drum in that area, decreasing spring pressure at that point. I disassembled the drum. Everything looked fine inside. Now I can't figure out how to retensio
  4. My double hook Tapco G2 trigger assembly started malfunctioning after about 500 rounds through my Saiga 12. It was modified for the Saiga before installation, and function had been fine. The gun was converted when new by a local 'smith about four years ago. Starting just a couple of weeks ago, about 50% of the time I fired and held the trigger to the rear after the shot (follow-through for sighting in with a new red dot sight) my trigger would not come back forward and reset. I removed the trigger group and found that the disconnector was binding in the cradle at each side where the di

    Gas Regulator Adjustment

Buffers can cause short stroking. Be sure to test with all ammo for reliable feeding. The new adjustable gas regulators, though more expensive, provide a better solution for reliable feeding and gas control. CB3

    ACE Side Folder Stock

Here's the gap in the alignment of the stock and mounting block. The button lock is certainly the way to go, but I wish the installer had put it on instead of something that doesn't work. CB3
  7. I wrote a new Topic in the Saiga 12 Forum. I hit "Post New Topic" and nothing happened. I was not taken back to the forum. I hit "Post" twice more with again no results. I decided to check the forum, and the posts were there. I then tried to delete the duplicate posts, and could not find a way to do so. Sorry. If someone can delete the duplicates that would be appreciated. Is it typical not to be redirected back to the forum after hitting "Post New Topic"? CB3
  8. I had my local gun store install an ACE side folding stock on my S-12. It folds left. I have the same unit on an AK 7.62, and it works perfectly. However, on the S-12, firing three or four quick rounds will cause the stock to unlock, wobble and even start to fold. Not good. I wrote the company and they suggested I shoot the gun differently--do not pull down on the gun while firing. I have not tried this "fix", but it seems to be going in the wrong direction to me. I would think a critical weapon component like this would be designed/machined not to unlock except when the operator wante

  10. I'm late to this party, but you want input. My S-12 is not for gaming or hunting. It's a short range defensive weapon used with buckshot. I want it quick and easy to handle. Hanging a long mag underneath, or a heavy one with 10+ rounds of 12 gauge ammo, decreases the handling characteristics. I store my second and third mags in pouches. A DS mag would be even wider than the SS, of course, and the SS is already a handful. Something wider would be unwieldy, IMO, and probably slower to use. The five's do not hold enough, the tens are too long and heavy. Although I don't have any, I think

    recoil buffer

I have used buffers successfully in a number of rifles and pistols. I put one in a new Arsenal 5.56 AK, and it short-stroked the bolt and misfed one-to-two rounds out of each mag. I took the buffer out, and it has run flawlessly since then--just as it was designed to do. I learned my lesson. The AK receiver will not get battered by recoil. You can reduce felt recoil with external methods that will not interefere with the action. Don't buffer. Tromix is the acknowledged expert for Saiga-12's. Trust them. They could make money selling you buffers, but they don't, because they know better
  12. Paid $550 for the only one I could find locally, last fall, and don't regret it at all. I would not pay $800, but would wait. Today, with the scarcity, if I found one for under $600, I would snap it up. The law of supply and demand does work here. Even if supply goes up in the fall, demand has gone up and will probably continue to do so. Supply may not be regular after a large shipment as the factory builds other models or guns. I would expect the new price in the fall to be between $550 and $650 at most dealers. They may have to "last" for six months or more. I hope that container has
  13. The only one I have found w/in a 40 mile radius of my home is now $599, $635 OTTD. I bought mine a month ago for $550 (the only other one around) and felt that was a decent price for a local purchase. Law of supply and demand--not may around right now.
