  1. Got both of my front sights from Oleg at FSU. Took about 25 days to get them if I remember correctly, but I'm very satisfied with them. Here's a pic of the sights. AKATTACK
  2. Here's a picture of the original Russian Saiga 12 trigger guard and a picture of my Saiga 12 with the trigger guard that I made using a standard Bulgarian trigger guard from KVAR. I just used my dremel, marked and cut it, then used a file to smooth things out. Go slow and it's easy. AKATTACK
  3. The paint I used was Dupli-Color Engine Enamel with Ceramic, LOW GLOSS BLACK #DE1634, bought it at local car parts store. It's a little bit more flat than the original, but it looks good. I didn't paint the barrel, just the underside of the receiver and lightly sprayed the sides of the receiver. The tear-drop shaped object is the locking lever for the Kobra red-dot sight. These are slid onto the rail and then you push the lever around until it locks. AKATTACK
  4. Yes, they are 8-32 and 3/8 inch long. They'll be going out tomorrow, and you're very welcome. AKATTACK
  5. Thanks for the compliments guys! AegisDei, the stock on my gun is the non-folding U.S. made Warsaw-length(short) stock that I purchased from K-VAR. AKATTACK
  6. If you'll PM me an address, I'll mail you a dozen of them for free, I've got quite a few of them. I'll try to send them ASAP. AKATTACK
  7. Finally got around to disassembling and painting my Saiga 12 and received my Kobra from Tantal today. Put a Russian sling on her and this has become my favorite shotgun!! I've had lots of fun putting this gun together and I have a .410 that I need to get to work on. The other shotguns are a Remington 870 and 1100. The 1100 had been custom nickel-plated when my Dad had taken it in on a trade. He used to have a small gun shop before he passed away last fall. The 1100 also had a 30" barrel that I had shortened to 20". AKATTACK
  8. Here's the template that I use to locate the grip hole. It should be to scale so just right-click on picture and then click on print picture. Then make sure the template is to correct scale by checking it with the various pin holes of the receiver. Then I just cut the template behind the mag well and align the template to the rear of the receiver, hold the template very steady and mark the pistolgrip hole by cutting thru the template with an exacto knife. Note that this is a template for an AK rifle, but the pistolgrip hole is in the same place on most AKs, as are other various pins and ho
  9. The Kobra generation 1 and 1+(improved) used the AA batteries, the generation 2 use the CR2325 lithium tablet battery. AKATTACK
  10. When I converted my Saiga 12, I used an AK blank receiver template to locate the position of the hole, then used my dremel tool to start cutting it, then used a small saw blade to cut into the corners, then used a file to smooth it all out. It turned out near perfectly, looks factory. When I start to convert my 410 Saiga, I think I'm gonna go another route. I've read postings on gunsnet where the later AK-74s and AK-100 series of rifles with folding stocks used a "reinforcement plate" under the pistol grip. There was supposedly a problem, when shooting the gun with the stock folded, with t

    Hot News!

Hot damn, I can't wait!!! Thanks!!
  12. OK guys, here they are, but they aren't exactly cheap. I've ordered from these folks several times without any problems at all, they are good to do business with. Nick, on their ordering info page, it says that they do ship internationally. Here's the link to their page with the underfolding trunions, look about half-way down the page: http://www.aa-ok.com/AK_Receiver_Parts/Receiver_Parts.html This company usually removes anything they don't have in inventory from their web pages, so I'd be willing to bet that they have them in stock. I know it's a little steep, at $58.00, but sometimes y

    SAIGA STOCK

Chinese receivers are made of 1.5 milimeter-thick sheetmetal as opposed to the 1.0 mm thick Saiga receiver. The Chinese stock is slightly thinner and therefor will be slightly loose if installed on a Saiga. You need the "European" stock.
  14. This video was posted a few days ago: Saiga. Look just below the pic of the Saiga for the links. Here's some movies from Valery Shilin's website: Valery Shilin. Check it out! AKATTACK
  15. A slamfire is an unintentional discharge of the firearm that happens when the bolt, on it's way forward, picks up another round from the magazine and chambers it and the gun fires as the bolt closes-as I said, it's unintentional-such as there's some problem with the firearm. Bump-firing is a technique in which you hold the firearm at waist height(some people practice and can bump from the shoulder)and hold your trigger arm and finger in a rigid manner. Then you pull the gun forward with the hand holding the firearm until the trigger hand pulls the trigger and the gun fires, when the gun fir
  16. I'm not really that familiar with the E. German stocks, I have a couple of the Romanian stocks, and I know that the Romanian are easier to install, but the E. German stocks are of better manufacture-they are a little better fit and finish.
  17. StarLynx, I believe that's an East German stock on his Saiga .410. The Romanian stocks have the push-botton release, and the E. German stocks have the lever-release. Isn't this correct BigAl?
  18. dmarco, there's an answer for your question in the "Saiga 20" forum, here's a link: answer. You should get the rest of your mags in a few days. AKATTACK
  19. Chuck, sent you a private message. Check it out. AKATTACK
  20. Looks great!! Good job!! AKATTACK
  21. Cobra, here's a few pics of a camo Saiga that belongs to a member of AK-47.net. The camo that comes on the imported guns looks a little more subdued than the pics on Izhmash's site. To me it does anyway. AKATTACK
  22. Saiga20inmyhome, check out the "base" or "home" page of rusmilitary. It states in the "Other Accessories" titled entry in the updates section that Oleg will have the front sights for 20's arriving soon! Stay tuned and check back frequently, looks like they are on the way. Here's a link: Rusmilitary "base" page. AKATTACK Edited to add: I didn't know that Cobra762 had provided a link to the same page in the other thread.
  23. Integratedj, it took 18 days for the front sights to arrive at my door in Arkansas. AKATTACK
