  1. Tac 47 and Lone Star Arms are both GREAT. Either one would be a good choice. They are both reliable, honest, timely, fair and do excellent work. That is about as much as you can ask for. WJ
  2. I really like my Chaos quad rails. The guy who cerakoted my LSA S-12 had never seen a Chaos quad rail before. He was very impressed with it (although he did gripe a bit about how difficult it was to apply digital camo to the many surfaces on the Chaos quad rail---ultimately, however, he did a great job). For tri-rails I also like the Kross rail. WJ.
  3. My e-mail did not promise the double stack mags by the Holidays, just that they should be available soon,--whatever that may be, but I interpreted it as being in early 2010. I hope you are correct. WJ
  4. I like the look of the JT Engineering trigger guard. If you look at the recently posted gallery pictures, Mike has a picture of a Lone Star Arms S-12 with this particular trigger guard installed. It looks pretty darn awesome-in my humble opinion. WJ
  5. I am ready for Thanksgiving!

  6. I have been reading about the use of steel shot, as opposed to softer lead shot. It appears that using steel shot in older shotguns, particularly over and unders and side by sides, can damage their thinner and softer steel barrels. Does anyone shoot steel shot in their Saiga? Do you think it will harm the barrel? I have no idea if the S-12's barrel would be considered significantly thicker, stronger, or more durable, than those found in twenty or thirty+ year old shotguns or guns with two barrels. Thanks, WJ
  7. I ordered one directly from Ithaca. I was going to buy one on Gunbroker, but I got one directly from Ithaca for $100.00 less than the comparable one on Gunbroker. They have a few options available on them now, so I added a few things to it. I hope to get it before Thanksgiving, but that may be a bit optimistic. WJ
  8. I was stumbling around the internet, looking at shotgun shells and I found the Baschieri & Pellagri web site. Has anyone used these shells? At first, I thought they were too expensive, as they do seem to be a premium brand. However, as they offer some sales and free shipping, their shells are at least competitively priced with the "better brands" of shells. I ordered some bird shot from them, and I think 250 shells were $70.00, which when you factor in free shipping, that is about what you'd pay for Federal or Centurion or other such brands from on line vendors. The free shipp
  9. I don't know why, but I have been wanting to buy an Ithaca Model 37 defense gun. Anyone have an opinion on the Ithaca compared to a Remington 870 Police or Wingmaster or a Mossberg 590A1? WJ
  10. No they don't. Buy your ammo online. I agree with post-apocalyptic, Buy on line for your ammo needs. It is easy, fast and cheap. WJ
  11. I played for a few minutes last night, but could not stay at the PS3 for long. I played the "Bay of Pigs" campaign, to try it out, and that is all I had time to do. I've got to take three 14 year olds to a concert tonight so I doubt I'll get on tonight. Probably Thursday night. WJ
  12. Cobra's on Thursday-let's blast some evil milk jugs!

    1. Cobra 76 two

      Lookin forward toit!

      Lone Star Arms

Have fun guys. Wish I could join you!

  13. I will swing by tonight and pick it up. I am a bit disappointed to hear the graphics are not better, but that is okay, I am ready for a new game. WJ
  14. Will up date Thursday night. I've not yet tried them. I am interested to see how they work along with the Silver Bear shells. WJ
  15. I did not get around to loading any into drums (failure on my part). The brass shells fit beautifully into my Saiga five round mags and my Surefire mags. After I fire off the regular shells which are currently loaded, I'll load some brass shells into drums Thursday to check the fit. If they work well, I will be sending the shells back to be reloaded. WJ
  16. I've got my two hundred rounds of brass shell buckshot, and I'm taking some of it to Cobra's. We shall see how well it works out. As I recall, I can get the shells reloaded for about $14.00 per box--not cheap, but not super expensive either, especially considering I can request variations to the shot size or even get slugs. WJ
  17. I have one of Mike's grips on my blue S-12. I like the feel of it. I like it much better than a Saw grip. WJ
  18. Okay, I am going to Cobra's on Thursday to spend some time with him and shoot a few rounds. I bought some Silver Bear Nickle cased bird shot a while back, and have not shot any of it. What is the word on it, good, bad or indifferent? Ammunition to go has it at 200 shells for $109.95. This is significantly more than other brands of bird shot, but it still does not sound like an outrageous price--So, I guess I'll learn for myself on Thursday, but what do you guys think of it. I am also going to take my brass buck shot shells out and give them a try. If they work well, I am going to se
  19. Okay, better late than never. I should have wiped the gun off before I took the pictures as there is lint and dust, etc., showing in the first picture. The last two turned out fuzzy, but what the heck, I suck as a photographer.
  20. Strictly point and shoot--no rear sight. This was going to be a home defense shotgun, done in all black. But, I had an extra od green grip, so I sent it to Keith and Cliff and decided to change the whole color scheme of the gun. So, the final iteration evolved a bit from the home defense "night fighter" concept, but that is okay, as I am a big fan of od green and tan. As to the mounting, I do not yet have the shotgun, it should be here Monday, so I have to leave that discussion to Keith and Cliff. WJ Jeeeezzz Will. You SOOOOO SUCK with all your incredible S-12s; I'm envious
  21. very interesting. so does it appear that the tritium tube and fiber were removed from the houseing (is there screws below the tube) to screw down the sight or what? would you kindly post a picture? I am very interested in how it was done. Yes, the screws are below the tube, so the tube had to be removed to tighten them. I'll see if I can get some close ups tomorrow. WJ
  22. I just looked the shotgun over and Keith and Cliff fabricated a metal "hood," or cover, over the receiver side of the gas block. It is very nicely done and fits very well. The hood was then drilled and tapped and the sight screwed on. It appears to be more than substantial enough for any reasonable use and abuse. Keith or Cliff, feel free to correct or add on to this statement as necessary if you wish. WJ
  23. Copy away! That's fine with me, I am glad you like the sight. I picked the Saiga up a few hours ago. I have not yet gotten it home to really look it over, but my initial impression is very favorable (as I knew it would be due to Tac 47's reputation for quality). The manager of my gunshop really liked it and he is not even a Saiga guy. The guys at the gunshop all really liked the sight, the colors and the quality of the finish. They don't always rant and rave about S-12s, but this one really got their attention. Great job Cliff and Keith! WJ
