  1. All 3 of the ones we just got in don't appear to have threading.. MFG dates in 11/2013. Cut one end already.. no glory.. :/
  2. Well the 1st build with E German folder and Intrafuse handguard went to my partner, threading that today/tonight for him.. I've decided on another E German side folder with some NOS new wood handguards from APEX. Got the parts, gas tube, and CSS retainer ordered up last night.. Build #2 starts soon.. (other build is in VEPR forum by accident) Should look something like this..
  3. So I cut back 1/2" with the tube cutter.. no threads.. In other news CSS has shipped the DIE and TAT on Friday.. Debating if I should leave at 1/2" or go back a bit further?? (and yes that is a 14mm-9/16" crush washer for the Brake/Comp)..
  4. Thanks. I was going to go with wood but the gastubes are running $40 #ND then another $40 for the lower retainer. I got the AMDTECH cheekriser on the way as well. but it shoots great as it is. Don't know which way my business partner will go with his...
  5. I ran 120 rounds thru it this evening with no issues. Zeroed it at 100m. then range some 10" AR500 steel plates...
  6. Not pretty but it works.. and with the 30 round surplus.. Don't mind the other Saiga boxes in the back.. 1 is for my partner.. the other is up for sale..
  7. Straightened out the existing bullet guide with dremel-fu.. bolt now turns all the way and locks in.. and it opens up and ejects too.. which is always good.. LoL
  8. Also ordered the threading die and tat from CSS yesterday to do the barrel threading. got the Damage Industries Brake to put on... turned out very well thus far IMO. No worries I didn't mess up the trunnion, just the bullet guide.. Thinking I may need to tap for 8-32 screw when I get the new one in and center it better.
  9. I don't like top porting is all.. and extra gasses going up.. For say my VEPR 54R I did the top ported comp by JP Cooley.. that worked very well.. and with a 21" barrel.. no worries on the gasses.. LoL
  10. 1st Saiga build since 2009 for me.. took no time to fall back in routine. All stripped down.. I misaligned the bullet guide.. drilled the hole a hair off.. then I proceeded to botch it up too much for use.. Waiting for new one to come in from CSS. Folder locks up tight.. MagPul AK grip feels good as well.. Function check with factory mags went well.. I did dremel off the mag catch to accept the surplus mags so thats done.. Questions??
  11. if I recall being in NJ would require you to pin and weld whatever choice as you can't have threaded barrels. I know that Bushy sells NJ AR's with pin and welded brakes.
  12. I got 3 coming into the shop today..hoping one will be... if not I will be threading the one with the least 'spread' for myself.. the other 2 are for the shop..
  13. I shot the Damaged Ind Brake/Comp (the one with no top holes) on a 16" Yugo 762x39 and it does cut the kick over the factory 'slant'.. With the coupon it was $17.81 shipped.. I ordered 2 more.. 1 for my incoming Saiga 762x39 and 1 for my buddies Yugo UF..
  14. The bad news is its been 8 days since I asked the question. Now you have 0.
  15. Slight change.. ordered the MagPul AK grip for it.. can't run the Yugo grip or I'll be 1 off for the 922r stuff.. Kinda lucky since I run a small g-shop and convinced my partner to order 3.. so I get to choose from them.. Classic had issues with their UPS.. finally shipped them yesterday.. & due in Thursday..
  16. And thats with the factory trigger thats on a hinge. slap a Tapco G2 in and cut that in half at least. The last 762x39 I had back in 2007 to 09 would do 2x3 groups off a bag after I changed out the factory tigger.
  17. Csspecs mags are GTG. I ran the 15 rounders when back in NJ..
  18. Nice shooting OP.. Usually the Saiga come with a certificate which will have the mm of the grouping on it.. (insert in booklet) Since yours is new.. does it have a round 'trunnion' or flat 'trunnion' where the bullet guide would be?? I got one coming in from Classic so I figured I ask about the latest 'batch'..
  19. Going with E German folder and Intrafuse for the front end. Got in the Damage Industries muzzle brake for it too.. Going to recycle the Yugo grip for now.. got my CSS pkg today also with Tapco G2 FCG.. KISS.. Just waiting on the rifle..
  20. CAA AL Tube, CTR stock, Intrafuse HG, (above mentioned Saiga IZ132), KNS .52 post, CSS parts, & MagPul AK grip. Forgot I got in my Desert Palm IIIA 'Defender' front/rear 'vest' today.. (plate due Monday) my wallet feels lighter but me happier
  21. Since I didn't get too much feedback and the Bonesteel folder (or other) would have resulted in $362 for parts.. I opted for kinda simple. CAA Aluminum Tube with MagPul CTR, MagPul AK Grip, and Tapco Intrafuse Handguard. Conversion kit from CSS with Intrafuse was $131 CAA Tube was $76 MagPul CTR (commercial per CAA sight) was $56 Total was $256 Going with wood and adding the gas tube and lower retainer would have ran me $273 or more.. :/ Will post pics when I get it in and setup.
  22. latest Saiga batch 762x39.. round or flat buttler guide for trunnion??

  23. I have done the wood back in 2007 with my 1st.. I did the Tapco thing on the 5.45 in 2008.. What should I do for my new 1st (again) 762x39 16" thats inbound?? Maybe something like this?? I am ready to order from CSS.. so I just want to get it straight before I 'dig' in.. The good news I got 3 coming from Classic for the shop and get to pick 1 from them..
  24. 1 Saiga 762x39 for me.. and 2 for the GS.. getting them whilst we can mang'..

  25. Got 500 of BB 762x39 coming.. and another 500 of GT 762x39 coming.. and possibly a Saiga 762x39 to go with it..
