  1. I FINALLY got a S12 and will buy one of these ... my question is you mention the gas tube rail that'll be on the same plane, does that mean I could mount some AR sights front/rear and have them work? If so that'd be just the ticket for me, I prefer AR sights and have many extra sets already. Also I'd like to have quick detach sights instead of a welded on HK front. Also, I'd have no worries about JB Weld'ing a part like this on. It would be low weight bearing, and the contact area between it and the top cover is pretty large ... so I can't imagine JB Weld not holding.
  2. The longest I've ran my S308 is about 700 yards, and it did just fine. I have a friend who's built a range out to 1200 yards literally off his back deck, it's awesome! It's a series of rolling hills, each crest has a set of swinging steel plates. His 700 yard plates are 10"x10", and I was able to hit those on a 65 degree, wind straight in our face at about 10mph day 8 out of 10 times on average. That was with Israeli surplus, even SA surplus was better than 50% at 700 yards. I'm working up some 175gr Berger Match VLD loads to try out to 1000 yards. Sniper is more about the man than
  3. Man I love my GSG-5! I got mine about a week ago, local shop had one on the shelf and they traded me straight up for 7 South African .308 battle packs. Since then I've ran about 3000 rounds through it, and have had exactly 1 fail to feed ... and no other problems. I got a Classic Army side-folder and railed forearm for it off Ebay cheap, airsoft Tango Down stubby VFG, the G&G optics mount, and a 3x fake ACOG. Sure it's not cheap in the context being discussed here, but damn it's fun. I think I might even sell my DPMS bull-barrel 22lr AR-15 upper now that I have the GSG-5.
  4. Wow, that hideous! AR stocks look horrible on AK's ... the Ace folder I have on my Sierra Arms AK looks great, and is rock solid.
  5. I'd have to disagree. The 'magic bullets' are going to help rough bores most, and it's pretty clear with a look down a Saiga barrel that it's fairly rough. I've seen hundreds of reports praising the product, never have I seen a negative from somebody who actually tried it. There have been plenty of closely measured tests showing significant before/after improvement in both accuracy and velocity. My Saiga .308 can get pretty close to MOA right now with good ammo. And since I reload trying the final finish is cheap. I plan on loading some up soon and giving it a try. Sure other guns
  6. This one turned out well! Bulldog flectar stencil and lots of colors ... I probably used close to 10 colors in this job. I started off thinking I'd just a single color paint job on this one, but the original base color I put on didn't turn out like I wanted, so next thing I know it turned into this! I love how this rifle shoots and handles, everything about the Sierra build says quality. It's probably the favorite of my 6 AK's, not counting my Saiga as an AK. Next up I think will be an Urban Digital 6.8 SPC AR-15.
  7. A few more shots, got the handguard rail installed ... the cheap-o bipod works great actually, slides on/off the rail with a push button. And the vert grip really helps stabilize for standing scope shots. I'm a happy camper! It handles and shoots just like I hoped it would. Also since the first pics I added some shapes of CADPAT light green, I like what that color added. I also dusted the whole thing with a touch of Blackhawk Coyote Brown to blend the colors a bit.

    Sierra Arms AK-47

My flectar camo Sierra Arms AK-47 using Bulldog Arms stencil. I like the way this one turned out, and I love how the gun shoots ... the Sierra stuff is fantastic!

    Custom Saiga .308

My converted Saiga .308, custom fluted barrel cut and crowned to 20" with threaded Phantom break, cheap-o NC Star bipod (actually works damn well) and Knights vert grip on pic rail, Bushnell 3x9 scope, trigger job, Choate stock, FBMG mags ... Camo job is a Bulldog Multi-Spec template with 7 colors, Coyote Brown, Desert Warrior Dark Earth, Woodland Brown, Woodland Green, CADPAT Green, Stone, Olive Drab. I put a ton of hours into the paint, and I think it turned out well. It was my first Duracoat job, my one mistake was putting it on a bit heavy with the female shapes. I put a coat of flat
  10. Well, I've had a few people ask ... but right now I'd only do it for locals or friends. It was a VERY time consuming process, if I charged an hourly rate it'd be around $500
  11. I used that bipod because I have it ... I know it's a bit cheap, but it actually works very well. the sling swivel isn't very strong, so I'm putting a rail on the bottom of the handguard and mounting the bipod on it. That's a better place to mount it, and getting rid of the barrel clamp removes a few more ounces. I also have one of those cool new Vltor wide-stance side mount bipods that I might use, but I'm planning on using it with my 6.8 SPC AR-15 build.
  12. Well I haven't done much 'fighting' with the gun yet. If it makes you feel better the fluting will let me throw it farther and harder at an enemy when my ammo runs out, and the paint will make it easier to wipe all the blood off the gun. I have polished up the trigger, and the muzzle comp works very well. With over a pound off the barrel end of the gun it's a LOT easier to shoot while standing too. And it looks really damn cool ...
  13. Well, about like before with a bit less recoil ... I didn't do much range work with it before, but it was around a 2-3moa gun with SA surplus, 1moa with match stuff. And it seems from one extended range trip to be about the same now. It's just a lot sexier doing it your cammo job looks good , i would like to know what load data or factory match load that was used to get 1 moa? Thanks TS2 The only 'match' ammo I have is some Lake City match, with LC77 headstamp. It's pretty old but shoots good. I should probably say around 1moa I only did a couple groups with the M
