  1. to answer your question instead of quoting laws is no you cant remove the trigger metal. if you do the firing pin is free it will just move smothley with the bolt and not have the necessary impact you need to fire the weapon

  2. lol, why re-design the wheel when its already there? I just need some sample measurements since I don't have a muzzle break handy... and I have zero experience in muzzle break design... I know the pros probably crank out hundreds of prototypes and test them on a rig to measure the effectiveness of the design. Yeah, I'm not going to go that far, The most I can see me doing is giving a drawing to a local fab shop, have them make 1, test it out, make a change or two, then do a run of 100 or so. So if anyone has any info for me, it would be appreciated!
  3. That would work fine, just trying to get a feel on the rough dimensions of them. Also, who makes that particular flash suppressor?
  4. My day job is a mechanical engineer. I'm thinking of designing up a cheap muzzle break for the Saiga-12 since I can't see spending $100 on some fancy muzzle break and the CHAOS muzzle break has holes all around, which really doesn't do much as a muzzle break... The only way to make these cost effective would be to design it myself (easy to do) and find a fab shop to pump out a run of at least 200 or so... Would anyone currently in possession of a Saiga-12 muzzle break mind giving me some measurements off it? I'd like to know the following.. Type of Muzzle Break: Overall length:
  5. So far all I've done to my Saiga-12 is add an RAA Skeleton Stock and grab some 10rd mags. Sadly, I find the iron sights too low where they are. What are my options on changing out the Saiga-12 iron sights for something a little higher? I'd love something I can install myself that doesn't require a trip to the gunsmith, but if thats the only way I'll have to bite the bullet and do it. So yeah, mind listing some options and the respective websites they can be found on? Thanks for any info :-)
  6. With all due respect, its been done before... http://youtube.com/watch?v=lUe4NWiOq5A And with a ATF tax stamp its 100% legit... I'm seriously just curious if it really is *that easy* to convert to full auto or if I'm missing something, because I know with AR's they've had to have a few things redesigned so they're not easy to convert.
  7. Taking my Saiga-12 apart and checking out the internals while cleaning, I'm noticing that there are two metal pieces that keep the hammer down... the piece in front of the hammer is directly connected to the trigger and if you hold the trigger down that piece stays moved out of the hammer's way. The only thing keeping it from firing more than 1 shot per trigger pull is the other metal piece behind the hammer will grab the hammer on its way back down after a shot. It seems if you remove that rear piece that as long as you keep the trigger pressed, the hammer wouldn't be stopped by anything
  8. ......I'm still a little confused. OK, being that I will not convert it while living in NY: No folding/telescoping stock, no pistol grip. So The only feature I would have, would be a detachable mag. Now it doesn't say anything about how many rounds said mag can hold, so is there anything else in NY's AWB that says I can't have a 10 round mag? I've gotten pretty familiar with my x39 Saiga and NY laws regarding it, but I'm still pretty clueless about S12's and what NY laws think of them. I live in NY and have a Saiga-12, and 10rd mags are fine, under the AWB all mags need to be 10
  9. Hello all, When I bought my Saiga-12 it didn't come with a Sling, I was just curious what slings others have used and if they worked good / fit the gun well? Does the standard AK-47 sling with leather strap ends work? http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SKS633-825-1878.html Or is there a better (and hopefully black) sling others are using? Thanks!
  10. Hey all, I'm looking for a soft case for my Saiga-12. I prefer using soft cases for my long guns because long hard cases seem to always be a few inches too big for my vehicle. My AR-15 soft tactical case is great for my AR-15, holds 4 30rd mags on outside pockets, has a zippered area for this stuff, and is pretty decent for the cheap price I paid ~$30. I was curious if anyone found anything like that for the Saiga-12? My 10rd AGP mags are HUUUUGE compared to other rifle mag, so I'm thinking the main hang-up would be finding a soft case that has big enough pouches to hold the mags.
  11. Just curious if anyone else with the RAA skeleton stock on a Saiga-12 has found a decent fitting recoil pad for the back of it? Or will I be forced to get a "grind down" pad and do it that way? (The end of the stock is approx. 5-3/8" long by 1.5" wide in the middle.) Its a little different from the standard hunting stock that came with the gun Thanks for any info, it'll save myself time scouring the internet! RAA Skeleton Stock
  12. Hi all! So I'm the proud owner of a new Saiga-12 shotgun. I also ordered the RAA Skeleton Stock, and installed it when I got the gun. I was finally able to take it out to the range today, and with the facepad up there's no way I could use the iron sights to shoot, my head was just too high resting on the pad. So I turned the pad away and tried it again, but still my standard sized hearing protection would hit the stock before I could get my head low enough to use the iron sights. I'm guessing if I just used ear plugs I could probably use the iron sights w/o using the Skeleton
