  1. I just found this out myself last night. The gas tube actually falls into a slot on the bottom inside the gas block. The spring pushes against the tube .. so once the front of the gas tube is in place, push it down and back, against the spring. The spring will compress and the tube will fall into the slot. Plus make sure the little lever that holds it in place is set so the flat side of of the half-rod is vertical before you start. Sorry for the lack of proper terminology. Then, lock it back into place with the lever. Will probably take a little bit of force to get it to ride over the ga
  2. Is there going to be any way to fit this to an Ace folder?
  3. I had to grind down the arms on mine to clear the rivets. Excellent, thanks!
  4. I've got the AKRBC from Ace for my .308 - I cut and filed down the top rear tang, but the block still won't slot in. It appears to be hanging up on the trunion rivets. Anyone here know if this a normal problem? Not sure if I should clearance the rivets or the block or if there's something obvious I'm missing.
  5. Was shipped the wrong product a week ago and haven't gotten a response from him since. Maybe just on vacation, or using new email filters, but searched and someone on another forum mentioned health issues a month ago. I know from reading others that he's a standup guy, so I don't want to start anything with paypal or my cc unless it really proves to be necessary .. but I'm getting itchy just sitting on my hands. Thought maybe someone here could either verify they have/haven't been able to contact him in the past week. Edit: Just heard back from him. Apparently the email address I was using
  6. If you do a pin on, you will have to get it welded on. Someone here posted that the pin-on quickly becomes a pin-off.
  7. I just did this last week. Pretty sure the receiver is okay, but even if it wasn't why couldn't it be welded and redrilled?
  8. Those prices look so good because the store hasn't updated them since they ran out of stock If you are shopping at cabelas and have discover cashback, you can use it on a cabelas $50 giftcard (for $40). Not a smoking deal, but if you were going to buy there anyway ...
  9. I may be mistaken on both counts, but.. 1.I thought BRG3 had inspected a s100 30.06 and determined that the internals were basically identical to the .308 .. I must be wrong on this or someone would have worked out a conversion.. 2.If the extreme shock ammo you linked to is half as good as it says, it's twice as good as any of their other products. http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot23.htm
  10. Sorry, I probably should have updated I went with the 8x POSP I've never even shot a rifle before so it really would be mall ninja territory if I were to speculate on how I would be using it. My general thinking was for providing anything from meat to defense between scenarios on the scale of Economic Depression to SHTF, with a mind to the fact that small critters up to (optimistically) 100 yards are already covered by my AR7. While I don't expect to ever need to shoot out to the potential range of the [saiga] rifle, it would seem a waste to me to not have that capability. In the
  11. Background: I've never shot a rifle before. Despite this, I want my Saiga to be as accurate as possible. I know that will require practice from me, but in the meantime, I'd like to be able to select the most accurate ammo for my gun so I can start hording. I've got my 308, my 8x posp, and 11 different types of ammo, so a range trip is on the agenda in the next couple weeks. Is it reasonable to expect that a complete noob will be able to determine which of these brands is superior if he has the aid of a couple sandbags? Are there any tricks or such that I should be aware of, other
  12. My first real rifle. The 16" would seem to be a more practical gun, but I figured what the hell, if I don't like 21" I can always cut it down. Be a lot tougher to add 5 inches. I was of course drooling over the idea of the RFB when I ran into the saiga. Actually I was thinking about a stevens 200, knowing I wouldn't/shouldn't afford the kel tec (plus, geez its a keltec). Somehow ran into the saiga, and once I read about some owners getting 1moa out of it, I thought "hell I'll take a chance on that". Sort of a jack of all trades rifle. Well, okay I wouldn't use it for squirrel meat.
  13. Unfortunately it lists every post by Acer and everyone that quotes him as well. Not that I mind reading his posts I was just hoping for posts specific to the external ACE receiver and the Saiga 12 gauge. use the + and - to help +ace* -acer +stock http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?act=Se...+-acer+%2Bstock +ace* -acer +receiver http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?act=Se...cer+%2Breceiver and so forth
  14. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?act=Se...te=ace%2A+stock if you use an asterisk after a three letter word it will work
