  1. Hey Will, I noticed you have what looks to be a S12 masterkey setup under an AR in this trailer. Always wanted to see one of those with a Saiga. I once shot one that used an 870 pump and It's my understanding you should only use low recoil door buster rounds as the magnum loads can warp the lower reciever and forearm rails from regular use. Can this setup of yours take 3 inch Mag. loads without the wear/tear to the host weapon since the S12 bolt carrier soaks up most of the recoil? Thanks.
  2. I've played Left 4 Dead online co-op a few times. For the Zombie fans, this is a must have game. Although it dosen't have a S12, there is a Benelli M4 Super 90 that has an S12 rate of fire. It only holds 10 at a time and is slow reloading. Hopefully they'll render a Tromix with the drum mag for the sequel; but that'd make the game too easy!
  3. The Sig556 is the one of the closer things to a Saiga .223 when you can find them. The Sig is cool in that it takes AR P-Mags all day long out of the box and shoots Wolf very well. While on the topic of S12 vs. AR, anyone here have range time with a "MasterKey" AR/870 shotgun setup?? Knight and Ceiner have their own versions, and that big indian in Predator carried an AR with a Mossberg mounted under the barrel. MasterKeys are mainly used to open doors with breacher rounds for entry teams, and not so much as a defense/offence tool. Although it feels good to have the shotty as a backup
  4. This is a high traffic area and I know some folks here have EOtechs on their S12's which was why the questions was posed. Most of us here have more than a shotty in their collection as an option. A good AR/AK would be better suited for an Aimpoint or Trijicon. My line of thinking in throwing this out was geared more towards a high alt. detonation EMP attack, that in theory would knock out grids, computers and cars with electronic ignitions. If any of the popular EMP theories are true, then only older vehicles in the area with points would likely still operate(until you ran out of gas, or were
  5. Been thinking about buying a high-end optic recently. Dispite Barry's Caravan of Love tour, Many of us are concerned about the real likelyhood of an EMP attack in this country after the pot bellied pig fired off his science project over Japan's airspace this weekend. Anyone care to guess which optic would still function after an EMP hit? I'd think the Trijicon would most likely be to one to keep going because its fiberoptics, tritum dot and no batteries needed. Co-witness iron sites are always a must on a Saiga, but this topic might be something good to think about before forking ou
  6. Yep, I need more quality time trying different combos. The KA boosted the compression in the gun with the use of Gunfixer's and the factory knob. Even if I have to use a buffer that'd be fine if the gun will cycle all loads better than with flat puck. The I'd definately recommend the KA for any undergassed gun before going into the gas block. Wished it would have been available when I chopped down my 3 hole 24" barrel. It may have saved a lot of work. A better solution for me maybe to get a KA barrel for the modded gun when they finally come out. I gotta keep working the kinks out
  7. Ran the KA puck, Gun fixer knob, and MD Drum this morning. The KA puck seems to really increase the recoil. Used both the factory gas knob and the GF unit. I may need a buffer with the KA, especially the 3 inch mags. It was hurling spent shells 10 feet away. Note I used this on my chopped 24 to 19' barrel that had the ports opened up. Have not used the KA on the stock 4 hole 19" gun yet. Strangely, there were some issues with cycling the Remington #7 shot. It would only cycle the low brass somewhat on the GF #3 setting. But, there was also an improvement with the use of that sorry Wal-Mart Un
  8. Test fired this weekend with WalMart Remington 7 1/2 green value pak specials, Winchester 2 3/4 and 3 00Buck. All cycled good. The gun has a rough finish compared to one from 2 years back. Had some issues cycling 2 3/4 buck with an AGP mag. Turned the gas knob back one full rotation to #1. It shot buck fine after that. After closer inspection, the new gun DOES has 4 port holes. Had to probe it with a paperclip at the front of the gas block to confirm. The front port hole is almost buried under the gasblock, you cannot see it by peeking in the gas tube. This is the likely reason the gas knob h
  9. Hmm, Anyone use the dished Knight's gas piston with Gunfixer's Gas adjust knob? I will testfire my new S12 this weekend to see if those 3 ports will cycle on a variety of mags. Knight's design reminds me of a low compression Blower/Turbo piston. That combo may prevent some of us from going into the gasblock. My Gunfixer knob is on order at this time, I'll likely give Knight's plug a try as the Tromix unit is discontinued for now. As for filing the main gasblock opening to a D shape, would that have any effect on the performance of the gas puck/piston movement if it's ported past the out
  10. Dang, I recently got another 19' barrel S12 and it appears to have 3 ports. NIB, I have yet to test fire it. Never really checked it until reading this post. The two holes on the sides look to be partially covered by the gasblock opening. I thought the new 19' 3 hole guns had larger ports than the older guns with four holes. So anything less than four holes in the 19' barrel is bad?? I was hoping not to go back into the gasblock this time. Oh well, one must do what one must do if low brass hangs. My gun is in the 08425XXX range. Is trimming out the sides of the gas block opening to a
  11. that agp mag has a catch to it that make is miss feed and jam i think that was the problem after all im calling the agp people tomorrow to see what they tell me.. you can pull the bold back then insert the mag then let it go to the front and stops in open possition because the catch on the mag Are you running GEN 2 AGP mags? Once a AGP mag follower held the bolt open on my converted 24" to 19" barrel after the last round was ejected. Never happend again since. I had the same FTE problems with the Tapco FCG. Had to have the hammer polished and it made a world of difference in cycling. Som
  12. Dinzag is very helpful and I finally got to meet Nathan at the Jax MS show a few weeks ago. I don't think he'll be at the one this Sat. MAA is very prompt in shipping orders out. I've delt with both of these outfits with no problems. Save yourself some conversion labor and get the 19' barrel S-12 if you can. I had only the 24' to pick from and went thru alot of cutting, threading, gas block removal/porting. Everything you need to know is in the forum. The local class 3 dealer I used last year has not restocked S12's in several months, get one while you can...
  13. All of the above reasons plus I read a copy of "The Road" by McCarthy, and got spooked into buying one!
