  2. No sir, I am in one of the dictator countries. I know lots do the conversions themselves but I don't mind paying for good quality workmanship. I just want to get recommendations and experiences of others
  3. I work in the oilfield and live oversea's and don't get to come home but once or twice a year. I am looking to have my new Saiga 308's converted by a gunsmith. I am not in a rush so who ever does the work has all the time they would need - I would not be pushing them to return the rifle. I was wanting to get opinions on Rifle Dynamics in Las Vegas and Red Jacket in Baton Rouge as to what Forum members have to say regarding their service and capabilities please. I would also be interested in hearing of any other potential gunsmiths to consider using. I am looking for the best qua

  5. I CCW and I carry a G-26. Very reliable, it eats anything I feed it. I live in Houston Texas and it is hot and sweaty here all of the time. I walk or jog about 5-6 miles aday and the Glock is the most corrosion resistant pistol that I am aware of. The gun is subjected to rain and sweat everyday. They are easy to take apart and clean, and parts are cheap. I carry for my protection and my familys protection. Brand/mfg does not matter. I carry what I believe to be the most reliable self defense weapon. For now that is a Glock. I bought my wife a G-26 also. thanks, gamboolman
  6. Thanks !! I have ordered the Saiga 308 and am going to order a bunch of surplus 308 ammo. I appreciate the feedback and advice. I am sure I will be asking more questions. Again, many thanks to all the replies. gamboolman....
  7. 1st off thanks for the help on this forum ! I have ordered a Saiga 308 after reading and posting here for advice. My next question is ammunition for the Saiga 308. Can I safely shoot my 308 ammunition that I use for deer hunting in my Remington bolt acitons in the Saiga? Is 7.62 x 51 surplus ammunition OK? I am sure this is a easy question but I seem to be having trouble searching the Internet to get it answered - ( likely operator error ) Thanks for any help and advice gamboolman....
  8. I am very interested in the 308 Saiga How reliable is the rifle in field conditions? Dirt, mud, rain, sand, dust, just normal general crud - Is the rifle forgiving of field conditions ? And how easy or hard is it to field strip and clean? I want a rifle that is dependable. Thanks for any and all feedback. Thanks, gamboolman....
