  1. Finally picked it up today, super stoked. I need some sights, I wanna go shoot it! I'm still leaning towards the Yankee Hill with the HK type front, but I think I'm just going to get some used Magpuls for the time being until I can find some used ones or justify spending the asking price on the YHM set.
  2. Thanks, that's a bummer. I dig the rear sight, and am not too terribly excited about the V type front sight on a lot of AR's. I have the CSS sights on one of my saiga 12's, and really don't like them.
  3. Also, what's yall's opinion on HK sights on a. AR? Do you think they would line up with optics?
  4. Looks great. I'd love to see a video of you shooting trap with that thing. Dudes with $20000 Perazzis wouldnt know what to think.
  5. That's a good point. The aimpoint would definitely be mounted on the receiver rail. Unfortunately, the local guy sold the YHM sights, so I guess I'll keep looking.
  6. Thanks for all the replies. I went to pick the rifle up and got a god damn delay, so hopefully next week I'll be able to swing back by there, but I'm going to be super busy at work next week, so it'll probably be next weekend. I did get to play around with the gun, its really nice, the handguard is so slim, I don't know if I want to put anything on it. It reminds me of the HK91 standard handguard, very sleek. Spacehog, we gotta get together sometime, I know we've been talking about it for years.
  7. So, Saturday I'm picking up my first AR. it's a flattop 16" with a 15" KMod handguard, and I'm getting it super cheap from a reputable AR armoror. Pretty stoked. I want some iron sights obviously, and plan to ad some sort of red dot down the road. I've always been a fan of the Aimpoint micros, mainly because I see a lot of non-tacticool AK guys use them, and I know they have an awesome battery life, I've never personally used anything other than irons on my AK's. I was looking on armslist today, and there's a guy local selling a set of aluminum Yankee Hill BUIS, he wants $80 obo, which is ab
  8. I would try it, but I always heard that you wouldn't want to eat it if you saw it being made. But I do recall an episode of Seinfeld where Kramer and Newman were making sausage in Jerry's apartment, it didn't look that bad. I usually just buy Conecuh sausage.
  9. I bought a Hawk/Interstate arms 870 clone a couple of years ago, it's been great for what it is. Admittedly, I don't shoot it much, it stays by the bed, but it's a solid shotgun and the price was right. I bought it because I wanted a shotgun for the bedroom, and didn't like the idea of leaving one of my Saigas out of the safe all the time.
  10. If the stock can't be readily attached to the weapon there is no constructive possession. Like, you could own a Romanian folding stock and a Draco pistol, as long as the Draco doesn't have a regular rear trunnion installed there is no constructive possession. If you're looking at an ace type stock and adapter, as long as there's no holes drilled in the back of the flat rear trunnion there is no constructive possession. This is my opinion, not a lawyer, never played on on TV.
  11. Sure. You can have whatever you want, as long as it's not installed or not able to be installed, as far as I know.
  12. Cool, thanks for the suggestion. I could probably find a sling swivel that would fit under the 10-32 Allen bolt on the bottom of the handgaurd, kinda like the factory front sling point.
  13. I gotta get a sling. All I've ever uses on AK type guns is a regular old 2 point sling, with the exception of my other 12, which has a 3 point, but I don't really like it. The 100 folder has a sling attachment on the right side, do you'll think a single point sling would work alright? I've never really used one.
  14. Yeah, those aren't delios. They're obviously whatchamacallits. The cool thing about Ray's front latches is that he cuts the front right side of the receiver, and the whatchamacallit that sticks out the right side releases the folded stock. Usually the stock is released by the button on the butt plate only. This design allows it to be release with your front hand or your back hand.
  15. And a pic of the pair. I'll get a group photo together of mine and my roommate's s12's. There's several of them around the house.
  16. It's going to be 8" when I get around to it. Maybe 10", but probably 8". I took those pictures with my phone, uploaded them to photobucket, and pasted the img links into the thread.
  17. Well, if you want to shorten the barrel to a certain length, you have to shorten the gas system, you don't necessarily have to chop the barrel immediately, not everyone has money laying around to drop on a tax stamp. Especially not after dropping the cash it requires to do a proper, quality 100 folder install on a 12. Like I said, I've had this gun for years and have been waiting and collecting parts to make it happen. I also said I want to do an 8" SBS, but there's not much disposable income around here since I bought my house.
  18. I've had this gun for at least 4 years, collecting parts and trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do. Ray at saigatech did the folding stock, and its excellent. I can't say enough about his attention to detail, willingness to explain concepts, and overall bad ass fabrication skills. Tromix did the gas system/barrel chop for the previous owner, and previous owner did the sights. This is the first Saiga I've owned which I didn't do all the work, but some of this stuff was above my paygrade. I'm really happy with it, considering 8" SBS in the future. Just gonna enjoy it he way it is righ
  19. You should just shoot Ray an email.
  20. I've been abusing drugs and alcohol for years, never considered shooting innocent people because of it. Millions of people do the same thing.
  21. I just watched the video, that's fucked up. I didn't see the supposed struggle that took place, but that lazy bastard didn't even attempt to give chase when the dude ran, he just gunned him down. String the motherfucker up.
